  • HOLY CRAP! 3:40 he plays using his arms and yet it still sounds good!

  • when i'm 150yo i MAY be able to play it

  • best part: 8:24 - 8:33

    just saying.

  • Incredible! What a piece to take on! Wonderful!

  • Bravo!!! Thank you for playing and recording the whole thing, I absolutely enjoyed it, it was a great way for me to end my night, definitely moved me with teary eyed. And you have a beautiful voice too!

  • I'm a just about to start to cry, because knowing how much purely hard work you have done to this and the result is something truly amazing like this! What an amazing performance!

  • Thank you. This is beautiful.

  • Very nice!

  • nice improvisation, I felt that it played an almost recapitulatory role that really suited the moment just before the repeated theme. well done.

  • Wow, awesome performance, I enjoyed it very much!!! Thank you for posting!

  • I study with Ursula, who this piece was written for, and I must say, that this performance is just so inspiring- Bobby, congratulations. Really beautiful, top notch music making!

  • I love how you sum up all the previous variations in your improvisation. Wonderful. Thank you.

  • amazing, it's beautiful

  • Where can I get this in its uninterrupted entirety? I want to show everyone I know. Your performance - especially your improvisation, conjured such strong emotions I was on the verge of tears and that never happens to me.

  • I love how he just starts playing Bandiera Rossa halfway through the performance. I love this whole song; when I get better at piano I will learn this piece.

  • That was amazing!

  • Absolutely the most beautiful hour of my life.

Congratulations, you've nailed this work in every way and I'm so happy to have seen you do it.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. And to Rzewski, too.

  • Breathtaking kaleidoscope as Rzewski telescopes all the previous variation styles in to a compressed view like one's life passing before one's eyes at the time of death.

---but not to die! UNITE, PEOPLE, OR WE WILL BE DEFEATED!!!

  • That was actually the improvised Cadenza :) You have only the performer to thank!

  • Yes, the performer's cadenza from about 1:06 to about 6:50 is truly inspired, and shows his complete grasp of Rzewski's idiom as well as the entire piece.

But also, Rzewski's episodic compositional method summarizes the entire piece as the work continues.

    Worlds within worlds -- marvellous.

  • You are a hero.
