  • About time the oil tanker got retired...

Still, it was a beautiful plane though... RIP flying trainer

:'-) bittersweet end to a good plane past the retirement age.

Personally, I think this is one of the best ways to retire old models. Go out with a spectacular bang for your final flight.

  • Glad you guys fly your planes 7000+ miles away. They will ban planes here if they see this,

  • i think thats a little busted nothing a bit of scotch tape can't fix

  • pretty fucking destroyed!! no point in bringin anyof it back.

  • That "fuck me!" bit, priceless. :D

  • LOL Holy cow! Y'all aren't right! Not all wrong, by any means, but certainly NOT right! LOL Too funny! Have to wipe the tears from my eyes, I'm laughing so hard... Too bad that earthquake hit at such a key moment, too... Sheesh! The post-flight analysis is just as priceless as the flight... Much obliged for sharing this warp-edness! :-)

  • lmao yes please but dont scratch it , careful you could break something lol

  • Like shredded wheat, dump that in your bowl and some milk and off for breakfast...

  • BONK!!! I love the sound!

  • @EroticCheesecake No, we hit the correct side -- all the bits were supposed to spray through in front of the cameras. It's just that this is earthquake country and, a split second before the impact, a magnitude 9 quake caused the tower to dip by about 3 feet -- meaning the plane hit the guard rail rather than the supporting structure. No way to predict earthquakes -- not even in "the shaky isles".

  • @xjet I take my rc modelling very seriously but once in my life you make me laugh out loud. I love you crazy people. The name of the game I suppose is, enjoy. Thanks.

  • 0:56 key-cam 2009/06/06

    long years ago..LOL

  • The infamous control tower. A pilots worst enemy.

  • Hay Bruce, How did the cheap servos go? Are they impact resistant??

  • @jimnrel Not very impact resistant. Broke the output shaft off one of them and broke the gears in nearly all of them.

  • Cant belive the FLAMES....

If most of the FLAMES had been following the whole set up, you can see how it was planed..

So Before every one jumps on the band wagon, do a bit of research. Let PPL have fun....At least Bruce get a chance to set up the safety, video,etc..

When we smash into things there is no cam or any safety at all.....

Good to see it happen at last...RIP the old faithfull trainer..If there was any original materials left in it.

  • How stuuuupid is that? I mean what was he expecting?!

  • Oh well if they didnt have this to do they would just be molesting children.

  • hehe,,,l remember 9/11 ,,, they recorded from everywhere,,, l think this video was also planned like 9/11...

  • Nice vid m8 :)

  • fucking worthless wanker git

  • @75kilroy Hey, you can't advertise yourself on YouTube like that!

  • @xjet hahahahha, touche man, touche. I love a good comeback bro.

  • Comment removed

  • @xjet HEHe Good respond LOL. :-)

  • WoW Hahaha!

  • aye bro stick to rooting sheep aye kiwi... nah i like your vids, not this one though... spose you had to be there though..

  • All that work, and plenty of cameras. And not a single view of the crash, just the sound of it. You must do it one more time, after the rebuild.

  • This was reckless and stupid on so many levels and I expected better conduct from an RC veteran. I get it, it's your plane and you have the right to destroy it, but not in a way that's dangerous to people or property. You're not much of an example for RC start-ups.

Also, if you wanted to dispose of the plane, I'm sure giving it to an RC newbie to learn to fly on it would be a much better fate for the trainer...

I hope you'll refrain in the future...

  • @IRisingFuryI For a start -- it was so old and oil-soaked that it barely flew -- *NOT* a model you would give to anyone you liked, let alone a beginner! Secondly, it wasn't dangerous. We planned the whole thing down to the finest detail -- hence nobody was hurt, no collateral damage occurred. Why are there some people out there who just don't like seeing other folks have good clean fun?

  • @xjet hello....yes why complain on funny things like this? let people have fun, of course we must think safety. I know of an club that is soooo serious that people cant use items from hobbycity because cheap items are dangerous!!!! THAT IS STUPID!!!hahah....lets do more fun in the future;) keep em comming. P.S we in RingebuRC crash what we want....give away what we want;)......

  • @rcgutt Kenneth, either you and your fellow fliers will have to come to New Zealand or we will have to come to Norway. Can you imagine how much fun we could have together? No model would be safe!

  • Comment removed

  • @xjet so the plane was at the end of its life? how old was the plane? what is the typical service life for a rc plane like that one

  • @IRisingFuryI

what got damaged apart from the plane?

He has metioned alot of times now that the plane was worthless and barely flew, why would you think that a plane that barely flys would be good for someone to learn on?

  • @IRisingFuryI Shut up. You are so lame.

  • Yeah, you were only inches away from putting it through the control tower window, which is pretty retarded. I'm all for having a plane go out in a blaze of glory, but intentionally hitting a building with glass windows seems reckless.

It was hilarious to see it strung up on that hand rail though. Ah, ya gotta love balsa kindling! Shoulda started up a little fire and roasted marshmallows. Oh wait, do Brits do that?

  • @toddsher2112 don't be mixing us brits with those silly assies and new zealand-ites. the new zealenders came from aussies, who came from criminals sent to australia from england as punishment. although, bruce doesn't seem to act much like the offspring of a criminal, maybe his family immigrated later.(just kidding. the aussies and new zealandites are great.

  • might not want to reuse that receiver...

  • you people think you can destroy a perfectly good plane just because you have all these expensive jets. I dare you to destroy one of them.

  • méme pas de respecté les l'avion c'est une onte!!!

  • Bit of super glue, it will be fine

  • You may all think this was a lot of fun. I could not possibly comment. :P

  • must be nice to have lots of money....

  • @atcwiz I agree -- it would be nice. Unfortunately, there's no "RC plane recycling" facility around here so the only alternative to having some fun with it would have been to throw it out in the trash. And let's not forget that the amount of money involved here was less than some people spend on booze or ciggies in a week. But I agree... it would be nice to have lots of money, although I fail to see the connection with this video. :-)

  • @atcwiz

    why do you say that?

    the stuff used was worthless.

  • I think you might find that its illegal under the CAO's you fly under too...

  • @winsor68 Nope nothing in the rules that says you can't smash an RC plane into a control tower -- I checked.

  • @xjet Nothing about buildings and built up areas? I find that rather.... strange. I guess you are being tongue in cheek.

  • @winsor68 The only relevant clause is that you're not supposed to operate a model in a manner that poses a danger to persons or property. Nobody, nor any property (other than the model itself) was harmed during the making of this video. Everything was carefully planned and I'd say that there are plenty of clubs where the average flying abilities of those with the transmitters constitutes a whole lot more danger to person and property than we did in creating this video.

  • Too bad you got the camera on the wrong side.

  • @arsitama We will learn from our mistakes and do better next time (Next time????!!)

  • That made a satisfying thud

  • Thought the engine was going to come out the other side of the tower! Lol! Loved it.

  • I think its irresponsible...

  • @winsor68 how so?

  • @xenothius How so? WTF?

  • @winsor68 you said "I think its irresponsible..." how is it irresponsible? everyone involved knew what the risks were and the whole event was done in a very controlled manner

  • @winsor68 Oh my God! What have I done?

  • Very Nicely done Bruce!!

    Jon

  • Congrats on a great end to the trainer.

  • Yes, you made the VIKING funeral. Thank you, now this video is complete. I think "rebuilding" would pay tribute to those happy hours that you have spent with the trainer when it was still going strong. Thank you for sharing!

  • Is this a great hobby or what? Salute!

  • O my god,that was so funny,LOVE IT,more more,you guys are way to crazy,but a good crazy.hahahahahaha.

  • Very cool

next I want to see the rebuilding video

    and the new Flying Trainer!

  • Comment removed

  • Nice effort!!

  • cant wait until you'r done re-building it! do you think the flight-performance will be any different after the re build?

  • I loved how all the people directly started searching the parts that were still good :D you were just standing there filming and everybody was doing it for you! Great friends

  • Like it. Next time hit lower:-)

  • You could glue it back together and Use that Turnigy 9X Controller that never came.

Maybe then you could crash in a spot that we could see lol.

  • great stuff Bruce, - nicely edited too.

  • id say you crashed it pretty good, you just need to work on telling your camera people to get wider camera angles. people dont like it because not one of the cameras got video of it actually hitting the tower. the throw down was more exiting than the crash. unfortunately, poor camera work made this video better as a story (maybe an audiobook). if you filmed someone else crashing im sure it would be a "hit". i didnt like or dislike it....

    keep it up

  • @colebz420 we all thought xjets flying skills were good enough that we didn't even think he would have hit the top instead of the framework , Give him credit though the tower not that easy to line up for with other buildings in the way .Oh well better luck next time

  • Ron's cam got the best shot. Why burn Barbie?....now ken's got no partner !......Good ending for this well used model.....It provided fun right till the end. I hope Bruce sets up a rememberance plaque . My congratulations goes to Ron . Well done Mate !

  • God was it ever going to work?

  • I wonder why 6 people disliked this video? Strange. What's to dislike?

  • @xjet i didnt dislike the video. but i guess there are a lot of young boys who wish they had the money to buy one of these trainer planes and then see you wreck one just for the fun of it. just my opinion....:)

  • @Fra42below Trust me -- nothing in that plane was worth keeping or giving away. To give such an overweight model with an unreliable engine to a beginner would put them off RC flying for life. I give a lot my old stuff to people just getting into the hobby but I am careful to make sure that I don't give them things that will simply create misery and disappointment. You could see (in part 1) that this plane simply did not fly well. It took all my efforts just to keep it in the air.

  • @xjet i agree 100%. but most of the "occasional viewers" ignore all this stuff and just follow their instinct. when flitetest intentionally destroyed a 45 dollar HobbyKing AT-6 foamie (and then glued it back together) they lost more than 1 subscriber.

anyway i just bought my first gas plane and was wondering if the engine would survive after a major crash like this. (no control towers at my field anyway)

Gonna maiden it next sunday...wish me luck! :)

  • @Fra42below Glow/Nitro motors are seldom damaged in an encounter with the ground (unless concrete or tarmac is involved) and gas motors are only a little more vulnerable. I've had motors that have been through countless crashes and still run as well as ever once they've had the dirt removed from them. Good luck with your maiden -- be sure and film it so we can all see how you got on! (and watch out for control-towers)

  • @xjet thanks a lot!!! I dont want to film it but i am sure my mates at the field will (makes me wonder why...ahaha)

  • @xjet bruce i finally maidened my seagull yak 54/supertigre g90. i have the video on my channel, you said you would give it a look, so here it is. i hope you find the time to watch it!

    cheers, Fra.

  • @xjet I'll vouch for that!

  • @xjet Some people may not like you having cooked Barbie....she wasn't underdone so don't know why people disliked it.. Rc Enthusiast and culinery skills too !.......great combination.

  • @xjet it's up to 7 now , . If only they could have seen your trainer in person

that it was really gettin pretty old and bits falling off . Have to try really hard to hit the right spot next time and might pay us camera people to do 360 degrees coverage next time aye . Who would of thought crashing a plane would be so hard and to cover all the possible camera angles , so much could of gone wrong when you think about it

  • nice touch at the end ... the Barbie-Q

  • LOL "It still flies alright"

  • We can rebuild him,,,!

  • Rest in pieces! :)

  • somebody was using a sony handycam I recognized the sound effect when he opened the screen on the cam

  • can I buy the ashes so i can rebuild it? send me an email.

  • lmao..Barry is sure gonna get all the hot chicks chasing him around now...I did tell him not to drink the glow fuel.

  • @48horijoe It must have been the new prop on his plane that turned his beard a funny color.

  • @1:54 Ron just missed it.. on the Piss again? lol Great Vid all the same.

  • Should have let Ron fly.

  • lol, you need a bigger tower. Nice work!

  • greeeaaaat we had 10 camera's and everyone misssed the money shot. ROOOOOON! You almost had the money shot if you would have lifted that camera up a notch. Ron does it again. J/K!

  • all them fucking cams and you still cant get it ffs dumb fucking kiwis

  • @adam66688 Hey, haven't you heard? Kiwis can't fly :-)

  • @xjet they also only have half a brain lol

  • @adam66688 That's pushing it -- I'd pride myself on 1/3 of a brain and be thankful :-)

  • @xjet lol

  • "did we damage the tower?" lmao y would u even ask that, its pretty evident the tower did most or all the damage lmao XD

  • Comment removed

  • I like what you did with all the different footage and angles , This could be a good way of getting rid of our crusty old models in the future :)

  • That was EPIC! Thanks for sharing this crash :-)

  • Missed an onboard cam.

  • Dear Xjet i have 2 trainer plans if you would like them there a desent size and u can crash them once built if u so wish but if you want them ill gladly send them to you .

  • Great crash, even better than the A10 that drew so many death and destruction junkies!

  • YaY! its up! great video as usual :) thnx alot :)

  • excellent, but will it blend? oh, wait....

  • The engine always makes it the farthest in a crash !!

At that speed i'm suprised it did'nt go all the way through!

    Great stuff !!!!

    peace

  • A plane barely alive - We can rebuild it - We have the technology

  • Also goes to show that when you WANT to crash it's not all that easy.....put 100 man-hours into a build and it becomes a radar-guided ground-seeking missile!

  • Wow! That sounded like a cannonshot hitting the tower!

What do you figure the AUW was before the radical Cg adjustment at the end?

  • I new you could rebuild it... You will have to anyway because you missed! And I think Barry's stardom has gone to his head. Have toncall him Barry Gaga.

  • Nice work guys on the Camera's, Bruce LOL I thought you were going to go through the Control tower Frame, but you nearly went through the open door of the Control tower ,

As Maxwell would say,,Missed it by that much,,,,LOL

  • hahaha! The trainer had one last trick on ya....it wanted to go out without anyone seeing! hahaha Great edit, and great idea! Now I want more big crashes!!! hahahaha What else ya got left to crash...how bout a redemption crash??? lol

  • Who gave the homeless guy a camera????

  • Well done,Just goes to show you how hard it is to hit some thing when your trying.

    especially when its standing still.

A bit of glue and a spot of polish and it will be like new.

  • Oh Barry

  • Well done! Even if it were bad luck on the camera angles.

You should make a yearly autumn sacrifice like this.

  • that motor was in alright condition after a crash like that

  • you ain't fixing that fucker this time.

  • I reckon you could make a channel dedicated to crashing RC stuff... Just work on better angles :)

  • REBUILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not a single good view off the impact.....

  • I don't think that will buff out.

  • i think with a little patience and a little tape, maybe a spot of two of some epoxy it'll be good as new. really just cosmetic damage

  • I thought bary was a hobo not a hairdresser haha lmao

  • Heh, Well sad to lose any plane, but atleast she went out with a bang! Nice video work guys!

Hey Bruce being a noob here, Is it possible to build a EDF quad copter?? I have weird images in my head and before I go spend a grand I was wondering, You are about the closest thing to an expert since you made the EDF jetpack, What do you think?

  • @Tigratx you could build an EDF quad but it won't fly for long -- those EDFs suck heaps of power. The jetpack is only good for about 2 minutes before it needs a recharge.

  • it´s the tower ok??

  • Niceley Done!

  • lol at ron jumping when it hit

  • damn it ron!

  • I'll gladly take that motor off your hands Bruce. I don't own any motors yet and would love for yours to be the first! ;)

  • @psygn0sis Trust me -- that motor is not one you'd give to someone who you wanted to keep as a friend. Didn't you see how, in part one, it almost caused the premature loss of the Flying Trainer? It is the most gutless, unreliable engine I've ever owned -- which is why it was chosen for this mission ;-)

  • @xjet Yeah, I did see that. But nothing a bit of machining and tweaking wouldn't fix.

  • @psygn0sis Trust me -- that engine was a dud. Right out of the box it was a dud -- they didn't even tap the glowplug hole properly, the tap must have been *so* worn and every other manufacturing tolerance was *way* out as well. Must have been the last machine they made before the tooling simply fell apart. I spent far too much time "fixing it" and eventually gave up. It wouldn't even run when I first got it. A true lemon of an engine. But my SK90 was great. Go figure.

  • LOL all those angles and you did'nt get any good fotage where you could see it going straight in

  • @ClaritySWE Yeah -- call it bad flying on my part. I hit the tower too high and, instead of all the bits coming through and out the other side -- we missed the impact. There was a really nice shower of confetti though and the Egmont-cam got good footage of the bits floating down all over the place.

  • build a dehaviland beaver

  • Does the engine still run? :-P

  • @marcelh85 Does the engine run? Unless hitting that tower fixed it then the answer will be as before: "not very well".

  • @xjet but if it will run, it should be killed ;-)

  • at lest it crashed

  • the worlds best jigsaw puzzle :)

  • job well done

  • Apart from the "Crash" the highlight of the day was the looped "F**k ME!!!" Oh to be there would have been GOLD!

  • im gay

  • @MrKid118 cool!!!
