When Bush raised it was wrong, and now that Obama is raising it, and continually trying to raise it, is also just as upsetting. I think the reason why it has become a greater issue is because of one, the recession and two, Obama has raised the debt more than any other President combined.

Whilst there are some who in Congress are being politically opportunist in there position (which Obama himself is not exempt from), there are some who genuinely want to condition raising the debt ceiling to reduce debt spending.

@maggiejusiel Well, raising the debt ceiling in the past may have not been a big deal to some people, but as for myself, those that did were wrong. Republican or Democrat, raising it is wrong. When Bush raised it was wrong, and now that Obama is raising it, and continually trying to raise it, is also just as upsetting. I think the reason why it has become a greater issue is because of one, the recession and two, Obama has raised the debt more than any other President combined.

@maggiejusiel, Part of the reason why is because Obama himself took a strong position against raising the debt ceiling under President Bush whilst he was a senator of Illinois, therefore Obama's own words are being used against him. Whilst there are some who in Congress are being politically opportunist in there position (which Obama himself is not exempt from), there are some who genuinely want to condition raising the debt ceiling to reduce debt spending.
