Theres a film called "tiger:spy in the jungle" it is absolutely amazing and will change the way you think about big cats. I think youtube has it on here in parts, I highly recommend it, though it is 3 hours long, it's beautiful and in HD.

Seriously though tigers are the best but their habitat is diminishing, not many left. It's extremely important that we help them even if that means placing them in Africa. Tigers would no doubt have successful hunts in Africa but would lion prides be a problem? They would have to live like leopards but they can't climb as well. They would also need a good water source. Maybe we can fit them on Ted Turners TWO MILLION acre bison ranch.

It baffles me how many tiger fanboys are here totally making lions look bad, Tigers are not ALWAYS faster stronger and more agile than Lions, not always. Dont get too wet on tigers fanboys lol. @liljuve13 recently the hyenas just killed off the last remaining 9 lions of the serenghetti, it was 50 hyenas and 9 lions! accross the savanahs the rest of the pride is about 27 but of the 9 lions killed two were the two pride male lions! so though I firmly believe the tigers are more dominant than lions they would have a serious problem with hyenas more than not! plus hyenas are marathon runners and tigers though have more stamina than thought hyenas can chase for hours!

@QUIKKSTAR the female tigress goes on 300 successful hunts, her stealth is so sick that even as big as she is she is still able to crawl for nearly 50 yards until she waits and then sprints after the impala and no lie, it's within seconds! so they can survive in south africa but the community is closed and only for tigers not other big cats, so if they were in the open, I fear that hyenas would be a pest toward them! bigger enemy now!

They could cause an imbalance between the species, as would be the biggest direct competitor of the oils, even a larger competitor than the hyenas for example...
...Just as an example you have Leopard, which has the same characteristics as the Tigers (living alone, etc}, and is very successful. I even did it on a CBT and caused much controversy in the post husbandry.

This program was meant to train the tigers to hunt in Africe in fenced area,and to release the them in the wild in Asia. Reason is that though one on one,tiger is strong as lion,they can't survive in Africa because lions and hynenas form groups, and since tigers are loners,they don't stand a chance against them.

captive breeding is the only way to save tigers. they will go extinct in the wild. chinese are getting rich & they want tiger parts. they will get them.

Leopards spent 80-90% of thier times on trees, they are very agile and with a lower body mass are able to dance on light tree limbs like monkeys, when hunting or fleeing from other predators. Have u seen the speed , agility and power in which Leopards use when on trees.. I'm extremely srry but Tigers Cant replicate that. I know tigers climb tree also but not like Leopards.
@OmarionXD8 thats true! Habitat for tiger is something like evergreen forests with good rainfall. As tigers take help of dense forest and river to catch their prey! They easily climb upon trees and jump over prey to kill. They wont survive too long in Africa. But yes in their habitat they r like second to none :)

And if they can indeed survive in Africa, then they can be populated into africa. Increasing the population. Plus, if Lions can survive in America, (American Lion. Extinct.) Then tigers can survive in Africa. I'd say Big cats are the best at adapting to their surrondings. Except maybe Snow Leopard's and Clouded Leopards. :)
@NightOpsProduction: My friend; America offers no real challenges for wild cats’ adaptability. Any big cat can easily adapt due to lack of superior competition and abundance of game. America rarely sees the type of draught seasons that the African continent sees, so adaptability there is less challenging. How would adding an additional predator affect the food chain? Remember Tigers are Solitary creatures compared to Lions and Hyenas. Look and the whole picture and then anaylze it.

They may struggle only due to being solitary, But Tigers are highly intelligent and chances are Tigers will realize the need for co-ordination and will start forming packs. A lone Tiger all though larger than a Lion by about 50 kilograms would stand no chance if it ran into a Lion pride or a group off Hyenas. The savannahs different from the forests off south east asia, Adaptations would have to be made.

Lionesses would run from them, and single males would get beaten down. But, a pride with two or more males would either kill or force the tiger to leave the territory, even the male tigers.
Leopards and Cheetahs would only give kills to Tigers. They'd never fight them.

@DwnNvr ... In the Wild a Roar is meant to Intimidate, while a Hiss is meant to Warn or Scare. Lions tend to Roar while Tigers tend to Hiss in a fight. Think of it this way, if a Dog is Barking at you, if you're a real man you won't be afraid to slap it upside the head to knock some sense into it. However if a Cat is Hissing at you, you'd be dumb to swing your hand anywhere near it. This means it takes a lot more courage to jump into a fight with something hissing rather than roaring...

At 0:48 you can see the male Tiger clawing at the wood and the male lion begins to lay down and put it head down. The clawing at the wood like that is showing dominance and the lion submitted. Again at 1:23 the lion backs off. lion at 2:15 was owned and ran off. etc
@DwnNvr Well lets get into details here. Every clip in the video you suggest is of Captive Cats. Big Cats in Captivity are a lot different than in the wild. Also, the only lions I saw submit were female, the one you mentioned where the lion gets smacked and turns his head is because he was protecting his female, once he saw whe was out of harms way, there is no reason to continue fighting. He turned his head not to submit but to see his female walking away. Now I'll get into some real details...

how can people be so stupid? an average lion and tiger are the same in every aspect a one on one match could go either way i'd say 60/40 for the lion now imagine if the tiger had to face 6 or 7 or 10 like himself i mean come on a leopard could kill a hyena but they don't do it and usually give up their prey, cape buffalo might not be as big as a gaur but they are more aggressive and they stick together if one of them is in trouble they'll help him, cape Buffalo fears nothing not even elephants.

@liljuve13 recently the hyenas just killed off the last remaining 9 lions of the serenghetti, it was 50 hyenas and 9 lions! accross the savanahs the rest of the pride is about 27 but of the 9 lions killed two were the two pride male lions! so though I firmly believe the tigers are more dominant than lions they would have a serious problem with hyenas more than not! plus hyenas are marathon runners and tigers though have more stamina than thought hyenas can chase for hours!

@QUIKKSTAR the female tigress goes on 300 successful hunts, her stealth is so sick that even as big as she is she is still able to crawl for nearly 50 yards until she waits and then sprints after the impala and no lie, it's within seconds! so they can survive in south africa but the community is closed and only for tigers not other big cats, so if they were in the open, I fear that hyenas would be a pest toward them! bigger enemy now!

Tigers usually hunt crocodiles and large animals without difficulty. It is, in my view, entirely possible yes, wild tigers living in Africa, and I would go further! They could cause an imbalance between the species, as would be the biggest direct competitor of the oils, even a larger competitor than the hyenas for example...

This program was meant to train the tigers to hunt in Africe in fenced area,and to release the them in the wild in Asia. Reason is that though one on one,tiger is strong as lion,they can't survive in Africa because lions and hynenas form groups, and since tigers are loners,they don't stand a chance against them.

I truely believe that Tigers would have a very difficult time surving in Africa, Mainly because of the other big 4 cats that already exhist there. Tigers of Asian and much part of Europe are solitary hunters and with soo much territorial bundaries Especially with Hyenas and Lions it becomes almost virtually impossible to stake a claim on one part of land. Tigers like to swim in Asia, well in Africa Good luck with those water wholes filled with giagantic Crocs and Hippos.

Leopards spent 80-90% of thier times on trees, they are very agile and with a lower body mass are able to dance on light tree limbs like monkeys, when hunting or fleeing from other predators. Have u seen the speed , agility and power in which Leopards use when on trees.. I'm extremely srry but Tigers Cant replicate that. I know tigers climb tree also but not like Leopards.

And if they can indeed survive in Africa, then they can be populated into africa. Increasing the population. Plus, if Lions can survive in America, (American Lion. Extinct.) Then tigers can survive in Africa. I'd say Big cats are the best at adapting to their surrondings. Except maybe Snow Leopard's and Clouded Leopards. :)

America rarely sees the type of draught seasons that the African continent sees, so adaptability there is less challenging. How would adding an additional predator affect the food chain? Remember Tigers are Solitary creatures compared to Lions and Hyenas. Look and the whole picture and then anaylze it.

@OmarionXD8 Hardly, Tigers fight off bears, Crocodiles, Rhinos, And predate on Gaur. They may struggle only due to being solitary, But Tigers are highly intelligent and chances are Tigers will realize the need for co-ordination and will start forming packs. A lone Tiger all though larger than a Lion by about 50 kilograms would stand no chance if it ran into a Lion pride or a group off Hyenas. The savannahs different from the forests off south east asia, Adaptations would have to be made.

@OmarionXD8 Hyenas would be of benefit to tigers. Hyenas are afraid of a single male lion, they'd be terrified of a single tiger, especially a male.
Lionesses would run from them, and single males would get beaten down. But, a pride with two or more males would either kill or force the tiger to leave the territory, even the male tigers.
Leopards and Cheetahs would only give kills to Tigers. They'd never fight them.
Of course, their pattern is all wrong too.

4, in mid 90's indian govt tried to reintroduce asiatic lions from gir to madhya pradesh, it got into trouble when gujrat govt refused to share lion studs for tourism monopoly reasons! and it was decided that african lions will be used instead. @DwnNvr ... In the Wild a Roar is meant to Intimidate, while a Hiss is meant to Warn or Scare. Lions tend to Roar while Tigers tend to Hiss in a fight. Think of it this way, if a Dog is Barking at you, if you're a real man you won't be afraid to slap it upside the head to knock some sense into it. However if a Cat is Hissing at you, you'd be dumb to swing your hand anywhere near it. This means it takes a lot more courage to jump into a fight with something hissing rather than roaring...

@DwnNvr Well lets get into details here. Every clip in the video you suggest is of Captive Cats. Big Cats in Captivity are a lot different than in the wild. Also, the only lions I saw submit were female, the one you mentioned where the lion gets smacked and turns his head is because he was protecting his female, once he saw whe was out of harms way, there is no reason to continue fighting. He turned his head not to submit but to see his female walking away. Now I'll get into some real details...

What's funny is...our little housecats would kill us if they were the size of their cousins seen here;) They're only cute to us because they weigh 10 lbs rather than 500. Just as birds are only cute to us because they aren't the size of a bus like some of their relatives in the past;)

the difference is here, in this video, the tigers are always hunting even when they don't need food. It's a slumdog behaviour.
The lions hunt only when they need to eat.
It's a big difference between a king and a slumdog.

@TIRYAKOUN Considering tigers only successfully catch prey around 1 out of 20 hunts and can eat 40 pounds of meat in a meal, they will feed opportunistically since they might not have another meal for days.

You're right about this point of view. But the general behaviour indicate clairly that lions are kings. Even in the spirit and imagination of our grand parents. These strong believes don't come to us from nothing.
Tiger left its female just after mating season. It doesn't carry about cubs. A lonely and solitary behaviour.
Attacking people just for fun. A bloody instinct even when it is full of meat in its stomach.

how can people be so stupid? an average lion and tiger are the same in every aspect a one on one match could go either way i'd say 60/40 for the lion now imagine if the tiger had to face 6 or 7 or 10 like himself i mean come on a leopard could kill a hyena but they don't do it and usually give up their prey, cape buffalo might not be as big as a gaur but they are more aggressive and they stick together if one of them is in trouble they'll help him, cape Buffalo fears nothing not even elephants.
