I may be repeating this, I haven't read all the comments, but from what I've read about Michelob, it was introduced as a completely all malt beer only available in draught until being available in bottles in 1961. Then in 1966 when they began to offer it in cans, they reformulated it and added a rice adjunct (essentially making it a more expensive Bud). Then in 2006 they made it adjunct free again and called it "Original Lager". They even offered it in the "teardrop bottle" again until 2008.
@andy49093 Yeah, I kinda messed up on this one. Everything you just said I read as well... after I did the review. I wish I had read all that stuff first so I could have said it in the video but oh well. You're completely right though, thanks for commenting.
I'd bet that it has a similar taste to bud because they would probably use rice flour in this as well to keep it nice light easy drinking and inexpensive.
One of my top favorite beers ever crafted. So much flavor, so smooth and drinkable. A truly overlooked classic that is barely available to the public. Light beer has taken over and destroyed American taste buds!
@BubbaNintendo I agree with you about light beers taking over and ruining Americans' idea of what beer should be, but I wouldn't call this a classic, mainly because AB has changed this recipe several times. It's a decent beer, but it's not what it used to be or what it could be. Thanks for watching.
I remember growing up in Upper Michigan and that was TOP SHELF, none better in the 80's. We had no idea it was made by AB back then. It came in those cone bottles and when you gave that to your 16 yr old girl friend you would score for sure.
I grew up on Budweiser, kraut, ham, and beans, oh and fish lol. Michelob and Jack Daniels was the first when I started sneaking out at night and drinking with the guys....those were the days. About 1980. Good honest review, thumbs up. I like my Sierra Nevada Pale or Torpedo 9 dollar sixpacks too, and natty ice, so what is the best bang for your buck? It seams like it's either good or bad with commercial brew.
I can remember my Uncle used to drink Schmitt's of Philadelphia. He used to drink alot of it. My Aunt says she remembers I was curious about it. He would say, "wanna try it it?" I took one good sniff and was overwelmed with how bad it smelled. I never tried beer till college because of that. My how things change
When I first sipped beer (age 3, 1971) from my Daddy's bottle, I remember liking it. It must have been either Dixie, Miller High Life (7 oz. pony), or Schlitz, which is what my family always drank. Oh, did you know that they cancelled most of the Michelob line this spring?
Good talkative guy.I like that

The taste bud theory makes perfect sense to me. Just about everything I hated as a kid I dig now.
Michelob is kind of a generic name now but I've always considered it a fine semi-upscale beer. Or at least semi-upscale compared to my usual tastes!
I'll be on the lookout for the original!

I don't think I've had this one before, there are a couple decent beers from the Michelob line that I've had and its not bad for the price.
