Linkin Park = audio fail. Did they drum into you not to be a whiny bitch so much in training (as they do...) that you have to listen to it in musical form? Shame. Good vid apart from that.
@TVismyopiate in order to be positive, I've found you an alternative track that happens to be 3m15s long - perfect for this video. It's also a faster tempo. Try it - Black Country Communion - Black Country.
Sorry Dan, I don't have this footage in HD. See my other video tho: 'Hawk 2010' which has been uploaded in HD. Thanks for all the other comments, it was certainly a fun vid to make :)
@trsaunders just a quick question. Have they suspended all pilot recruitment for RAF? Whats the current situation like for fighter pilots going through training, i have heard lots have been axed? Cheers
@BDFPA Still recruiting i think, you can still go through aptitude test etc and cranwell, however there wont be a job waiting for you at the end of it, you would basically be set for the future though, thats what my recruitment officer said, i dropped out of the recruitment process to go to university, however i almost got to cranwell, i will apply again in the future, also they have raised GSCE maths to a B grade, it's not C anymore.
@MonkeyMonkMan thanks but i spoke with a recruiter and they stated that they have indeed suspended recruitment for pilot training, which is of course a contrast to the information they have given you. Secondly, I realised that i would be past the age restriction once i graduate university, 24, so as a result i will purse commercial aviation and practice aerobatics in my spare time. Cheers and good luck.
@BDFPA ideally i would like to go straight into commercial however money is an issue, i cant help but feel that uni is a burden because of debt, i know people say that a degree should increase your chances, however you dont NEED a degree to be successful in commercial aviation.
@MonkeyMonkMan unfortunately you are incorrect. If you wish to fly for the likes of British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, you will need a degree, as the competition to graduate from fight school and become employed by the those companies is fierce. At least 90% of graduates have a degree in Aerospace Engineering, therefore if you don't have that relative degree or no degree at all, they won't even consider you. Thus you will end up flying for some average joe outfit like Ryanair.
@BDFPA that simply isn't true, i know three pilots who are flying without degrees, 1 for Virgin Atlantic. My flight instructor who is 22 has no degree and is applying to airlines such as easyjet. A degree isn't the be all and end all, also BA's FPP didn't require you to have a degree to enter. If you have the skills required then you will make it, degree or no degree. Also Ryanair has the same high standards when considering pilot recruitment as BA etc.
@MonkeyMonkMan OK, How old is your friend who flies for Virgin Atlantic? Secondly, when you attend Oxford Aviation academy, you will soon realise that the vast majority have engineering degrees. Needless to say, the choice is yours, but you will be at a much greater advantage if you do have a degree. By the way, what subject are you studying at university?
@BDFPA Im studying environmental sciences at Southampton, i see where your coming from and i know that having a degree will benefit in the long run, however it just annoys me when people say you NEED to have one to get anywhere. Virgin altantic pilot is 38, not a friend, a friends father.
@BDFPA Im 16 and my dream job is to be a fast jet pilot. I already have a B in maths, And am still taking the english course. I am doing A-level maths and english language at college, Then doing a degree in aeronautical engineering at uni. Is there anything else i could do to increase my chances of being accepted, Thanks
@TheBuddahHunter Best not smoke that Buddah then, fast-jet flying requires a serious drug-free lifestyle. You have to have The Right Stuff to be accepted.
Nice vid. Two more months of desk work and I'm back sitting on the Mk 10.

@MonkeyMonkMan Shame the pay is shit for pilots these days. Drones were invented in relation to this, I'm sure.
