  • I cant wait for the person that takes Epiphone as a fake. there not really "fake" there 90% gibson pickups and machine made parts are the only difference. and yes to thoes that dont already know gibson hand makes them, like bosses.

  • thanks for posting this i nealy bought a fake one, thank god i found this video.

  • Lousy music!

  • my friend bought a Fake Gibson Custom. all i can say is that they're getting DAMN GOOD at making these. they look SPOT ON to real gibsons. he even went to guitar center and did a test. He told the workers there he wanted to trade in his Gibson, but did not tell them it was fake. They looked over it and flipped their shit and got all excited and was about to hand over a lot of money. Then my friend told them it was a fake and he was just doing a test and it blew their minds that it was fake.

  • @akhtab94 Even though the fakes have gotten a lot better over the years, there are still several simple ways to tell. I could spot them pretty quickly.

  • It count too with a Flying v?

  • This was very good to know.

    Thanks alot man.

  • bought a fake with 2 screw truss rod cover. 17 degree angled headstock, a working truss rod, no black painted cavity and no sloppy wiring, all $300 dollars include shipping and the gibson logo and headstock.....should have spent my other $3000 dollars buying 10 of these rather than 1 original....thats all i can say.......Whoever are making those "fakes" or i call them replicas, they are getting damn good...

  • Also people, be-fore-warned, that some people suspect that the "fakes" are actually just epiphones with a gibson headstock logo and they are selling them off-market, so essentially they are epiphones (which are usually made in China, and NO epiphone is made in korea).

I have a dean dimebag razorback explosion and the ONLY model made of it has been made in china, and its 2 grand retrail, and 1,100 street price.

  • Yes, those differences are well worth paying 10 times the price of some of the counterfeits. If you ignore the fake branding and know how to do setups, minor fretwork and wiring yourself, you can get ridiculously good guitars from these places if you shop carefully.

  • @TUUK2006 To be honest dude, I just tried a fake gibby today...I can 100% GUARANTEE no one here could have spot how it was fake. The ONLY messup that was there was 2 serial numbers. This one has a trussrod btw, and is heavy as sh*t, a good 6-7 pounds like real gibsons. A couple of guitar luthiers have been quoted as saying "just as good as any gibson I have played", and the only problem with the "fakes" coming out is that it says gibson. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

  • 2 people have fake gibsons

  • A lot of fakes now have the truss rod cover with 2 screws, a 17 degree headstock angle, and truss rod. They are getting very good.

  • Old stuff... the new models come with all this corrected... I'm freakin' out!

  • Look closely at 1:08

There's also a truss rod on the fake one.

It's an Epi converted to Gibby.

  • Best way to spot a fake........it's 300 dollars. Should set off an alarm bell lol. I have an ounce of real gold I will sell you for 75 dollars.

  • @joeysixtysix You're not taking into account the people that buy the fakes for $300 and then sell them on eBay for $2,000+

  • Yeah, these copies look like the real one and are inexpensive. But there are huge differences (specially the sound quality) for a REAL musician, those come out especially during RECORDING.

  • my dads got a fake gibson guitar that hes gonna lwt me use cuz im paractising and getting lessons in school but my dad new it was fake when he got it(some one gave it to him anyway) but really real gibsons are really expensive but still worth it

  • If the guitar is good, I don't really care if my guitar is made in China by Chinese people of in America by Mexicans.

  • @jacknuts22 I agree.. AS LONG AS THE GUITAR IN QUESTION IS REPRODUCED LEGALLY.... not a half assed attempt at a les paul with a Gibson logo on the head stock

  • @CrissAngelFreakAss

alot of the guitars are weight relied to cut down on the back problems so the chinese gibsons are about the same weight as the real gibsons and most of the finest wood is shipped to china. i live in a town in canada that ships alot of our wood to china. its not pressed board.

  • @brown7935 were the hell do you get a Chinese Gibson? Epiphone of China is as close to a legally approved Gibson that you will get.. GIBSONS ARE MADE IN AMERICA.. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? CHINA = EPIPHONE , USA = GIBSON USA.. stop telling yourself that the junk that you got from China was a legally approved Gibson.. or even a epiphone for that matter...

  • @espltdguitarlover Settle down faggot.

  • @jacknuts22 eat a big bag of shit dick licker....

  • Old stuff

the latest fakes have addressed all of these issues and are excellent....still fakes...but excellent fakes.

  • damn chinese always copies good stuff.. lots of counterfeit in china, hong kong and taiwan. from luie vitton, gucci, rolex watch and now gibson guitars. anyone know what is gibson doing about this?

  • very interesting

  • cheers for the help, good tune too.

  • what if a les paul has a chambered body?

  • Thanks for the info, my "Les Paul" is a Jay turser, it looks and sounds bitchin tho, but yeah great video man, educate the masses

  • GREAT info..thanks !

  • good video

  • Some guitars if you look on the back of the headstock when youve just bought it has a sticker which says hand crafted in china

  • its fairly easy to spot a fake just by the headstock alone. fake headstocks just look wrong

  • @TheMullerFan

Yeah, fake headstocks do look wrong. Although, some of the newer fakes have it a lot more authentic looking.

  • @TheHugsbugs87 thats means its an epiphone not a gibson, its not fake.

  • 1k views? thats great for some1 with 3 vids and 9 subs lol

  • does china sell original gibson?

  • fakes have a lot of fret buzz too!

  • at 0:29 thats an epiphone truss rod cover!!! counterfeiters are stupid.

  • @TheHugsbugs87 Depends, the challenger hadn't got the book cover style. But if its not a challenger, its best to assume it's fake. Better to be safe than sorry.

  • Book cover style? Do you mean the "Gibson" at the top of the headstock? I don't quite understand what ya mean.

  • Do all fake have three screws in the truss rod cover?

  • Good question,

Over the past few years, a lot of people have noticed the differences between the fake and the real guitars. So a lot of the fake manufacturers have changed to 2 screws like the real thing.

So no, not all fakes have three truss rod cover screws. But most of them do, and this is the most common way to tell the difference.

Thanks, and don't forget to subscribe =)

  • @randomness781 thanks!

  • @randomness781

However, some authentic Gibson Sonex Deluxe 180's have 3 screw truss rod covers.

  • @Experimentaccount1 easiest thing to do if your in like a pawn shop is just call gibson customer support and read off the serial number... should help see if its authentic gibson or not

  • cool vid, i kno i wont care abt this cus i dont play guitar but.... wait, wat was my point? nvr mind
