  • @thatwhichidesire no...each stickman represents a voice, so mostly throughout the fugue there are 3 voices, but at the end Bach includes some free voices, raising the number up to 5

  • Respects man!! very funny and beautiful!!

  • I love it! Check this one out: watch?v=UXxDVOASm0Y

  • Perfect video for showing people how a Fuge works.

    I adored it a lot!

  • i liked how u matched the steps with piano

  • wo kommts her? ausm großdeutschen reich!

  • äh... lol? was meinst du jetzt damit??? *schief-anguck* o_Ô

  • Congratulations!! Really good! Do you have anymore animations?

  • nice one (:

  • Great!!! That's a very good idea. You need try to do one for the Fugue No. 9 from book 2 (BWV 878, in E Major).

    Thanks for posting this.

  • I tried to answer to some posts, but it did not work. I have no clu, why...

  • Wow... I guess we all visualize differently. Your visualization is plain weird! ;)

  • great. simply great.

  • absoluttely fenomenal

  • This is really playfull and very ilustrating, do you use flash for the animation?

  • I used Adobe Director, but flash might work too. The problem was that sound and picture is not synchronized (I mean like fixed) in director. So it is not the perfect tool to do Music videos ;) I don't know, how flash works, though.

  • Hi Lenzorg, Flash actually lets you syncronize music and picture. I hope you'll have the oportunity to try it out. It works a little bit like Director. And if you know Director I'm sure, you'll find out. Thanks again for your lovely animations :o)

  • It's like an imagination that I saw in my childhood whan I had fever.

  • Fantastic job! :D Congratulations! :D

  • I'm starting to think that this may be the best music piece ever!yeap

  • wow... simple, but surprisingly good.

  • hihihi.....wonderful!!!!!!!

  • bravissimo!!!!

  • Qué ingenioso video!!! Felicidades!!!

  • very funny ! but i am still trying to figure it out !

  • wow...now this is something i've been looking for...

  • Absolutely!

  • That was gorgeous! Congratulations!

  • Fantastic! Now whenever I hear a Bach fugue I will think of these little men and their endeavours.

  • I love it!! so cute and fun and actually a very good analysis! takes me back to the days of theory class. :)

  • Clever! Great fugue and recording to choose.

  • Great fugue visualization!

  • This is simply wonderful!

  • Simple and so smart

  • What a great idea. Excellent! 5 stars.

  • exellent

  • it's very kiddish.... the animation..

  • I didn´t like the visualisation of Contrapunctus 1 but this is imo much better and more sympathic ;) Really great!

  • sau gut!

  • Great concept! I enjoyed watching it, and it's much truer to the music than the elaborate Fantasia cartoons were to the the music in that film. If you're interested and an Anglophone, I can send you the link to a Bach tribute poem on my blog, which attempts something of the sort with words. Just holler, I will check the posts.

  • I'd like that. sorry for not checking the posts.

  • excelente. parabéns! :)

  • Funny, and educational as well.

    G E G C A(lowermordent) G F E F G E F D F E F G A F G E

  • That's great! It makes it easier to recognize the various themes without having the score in front of you.

  • a great idea!

    that's how Bach felt ;-)

  • This is quite fun, but it seems like the animations are random half the time.

  • If you know the score of the piece, it makes a lot more sense :)

  • I admit that I made some parts sloppy, because I ran out of ideas. ;) Anyway, the main idea of the significant theme and contrapunctus should have remained.

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • awsome! :D

  • BRAVO!! *clap* *clap* *clap* *and other claps 2*!!

  • Lots of fun, and it helps to see the three parts. Bach goes well with everything.

  • lol contrapuntal people too!

  • cool! Now I hope my kids will hear Bach

  • cool...

  • very good!!!!!!!!

  • XDDDDDDDDDD Bravo !

  • Bravo !!

  • genius

  • I`m writing a fuge now and this is great to watch for inspirasjon :)

  • awesome!

  • O_o

  • shocking!

  • This is an amazing video!!!

  • great idea and excellent work

  • I wish you could see how broad was my grin as I watched this; excellent work, it really illustrates some of the mechanics of fugue. Have to agree about the hat tipping too. Thanks foe posting!

  • Forget what I said about the reeverb >.<

  • Yes this is Glenn Gould playing it, with a reeverb effect added to it :-)

  • The hat tipping for the cadence is inspired. Bravo, kudos.

  • Good job.

  • i guess this is glenn playin :)

  • very nice!

  • Great visual representation. I love this.

  • Absolutely nice and beautiful!

  • Thank for this great video nice.. im impresed 5/5

  • cute - lol

  • Each little man does his own thing, oblivious of the others, yet sharing a few key common acts: that's counterpoint alright. And harmony comes only at the death... Nice one Lenzorg

  • very cute. and also hepful to understand how this fuge goes on. I really love this, thanx! :-)

  • You know this is really cool and i think you should take a step further and perhaps add colours and more detail? Very inspiring :)

  • funny and adequate to the music at the same time - a masterpiece!

  • Well now this was worthless?

  • You just need to know a LITTLE about what you're looking at! It's is a visualisation of what's going on in this fugue. The first stick guy who kneels, throws colours and spins represents the subject. The second guy above him starts a the subject again a few notes higher - that's the answer. Whilst the top guy is answering, the first goes into a counter-subject, and so on. Depends on how much of a visual person you are, but it is vastly more difficult to 'hear' than 'see' a fugue.

  • Ah, my short disliking phrase of this work made you classify me as an idiot. Fair enough. I get whats happening, im reading notes fairly good. I did some visualizing of music on a kinda event. Maybe im more into music because my mother is an artist. Maybe i'm just stupid. In my opinion its still just a bad try to translate the untranslatable to moving pictures.

  • Where did I suggest you were an idiot or stupid?

Rather than dismissing something offhand in the comment, justify yourself. It makes the whole process more helpful for other users. You're entitled to think that it's worthless, but explain why to other people. As it happens, I don't believe this is worthless: I would recommend anyone vaguely interested in how a fugue works to watch this little video first.

  • You might be right. Maybe it is more of an educational clip.

  • Thank you.

  • great thing! gorgeous!

  • I love it. Gluckliche Lebenstag!

  • wow,

this is truly amazing. You are a genius.

  • Cute.
