I've been on holiday to the Black Forest las May and it was a wonderful hoilday,a lot of country side and many frindly people. I hope to visit The Black Forest in Germany agian in the futuer .
Hi, I'm from Kinzig Valley, near Offenburg. In our region of the Black Forest, heavy storms have been much more of a problem for the woods than acid rain, for much has changed in ecological terms since the 80s (stricter laws against industry pollution etc.). Storms on the other hand have destroyed quite large areas of the forest. For example, look up the storm "Lothar" in Wikipedia, which occured in 1999. But in general, the Black Forest is quite healthy and very beautiful. Greetz.
We highly recommend the Black Forest or Schwarzwald. We like the more centralized town of Schiltach. In fact, the place to stay is the Alte Bruche Gasthaus; the hosts Michael and Karin are gracious and the restaurant, run by chef Michael, is superb. The apartments and guest rooms are clean and confortable.
How gorgeous! Husband's family hails from that region~~wish we could afford to visit there. Maybe someday............ Thanks you so much for posting this!
i love the black forest... shame it wasn't included in the new7wonders of nature but it is still more charming than table top mountain!!!

My father is from a little town near the Black Forest called Nagold. It's absolutely beautiful.

Isn't the Black Forrest being destroyed by acid rain, because that's what I have heard?!
I've only ever seen parts of it on TV or in books, is it the same size now as it used to be or has it been reduced in size?
Great video's Rick, good to see an old part of the world, love the castles....good place to hide from the M.I.L, LOL.

Visit Freiburg and next to it the rhine Valley and is good to visit in winter when there is snow.
