Deathclaws are pretty much the nastiest thing you'll run into.

More perceptive than pretty much everything, so you can't sneak up on them, although they sure sneak up on you. You're pretty good with either a sniper rifle or an anti-materiel rifle. The anti-materiel will oneshot if you get a headshot, and have enough gun skill. Trouble is, their weight can be trouble for most players and they're a high level gun. Using mines, grenades, or missiles can cripple their legs though.

Deathclaws are pretty easy to kill if you pick em off from a distance, just climb the big machine thing in Quarry Junction and boooom shoot em up :P Cazadors are always a pain though they're quick as hell >.<

It's not a random chance, it's got a certain amount of limb HP after you shoot it.

They are very fast on the ground, but only if their wings are in good condition. If you cripple the wings, they will move more slowly than you can backpedal. Using hollow points are a good way to deal with cazadores.

Outside of unique/one-of-a-kind enemies, I'd say this is reasonably accurate.

Then again, I've only played through NV once since I don't actually own a copy of the game yet, and it was also my first Fallout experience ever. I didn't know the finer points of character building back then so I was baffled when Deathclaws were able to buttfuck me with Power Armor on after I had completed all the main story quests. I wanna play it again with an unarmed character build.

You do know there are about 6 different Deathclaws. The Legendary Alfa males, the Mother, the regular adults, the blind deathclaws, the young deathclaws and the babies. Not to mention the deathclaws on the add-on, they are harder to kill. The first three are on that list. The Cazadors are tough only, because they can poison the hell out of you, I'll put the strongest Legionaire 4th and then the Cazador. I think there is one radiated area with a Reaver, which can kill deathclaws easily, not sure.

By legion, I hope you meant the assassins and mutants are definitely tougher than a giant rad scorpion. Cazadors aren't enough hard to fight, one swing of the super sledge and they're done. Nightkins are tougher than Cazadors and Super Mutants.

@austinburtonjaab You kill them from a long f***king way away. I found a lot of rockets that I never used until I had to take out a Deathclaw nest. So long as you can shoot them in a way that they don't find you, you'll be good. 50 caliber bullets work well too. And having a partner always helps, even if it's just to distract them for a few more seconds. Also, avoid Deathwind Cave. Legendary Deathclaw. I killed it, but it was hard and very scary.

Your brain. Deathclaws are powerful, but stupid. I rolled a character with few combat skills but good barter. I went and bought/crafted as many explosives and left them in a mile long line leading out of the quarry. I shot the mother with a pistol, popped some turbo and ran.

As the deathclaws charged they ran into the minefield.Babies died off in one or two blasts, the adults took 3-5 each. ONly mom and dad are left when I run out of mines.

@austinburtonjaab if you have wild wasteland on go to the very tip or i guess explor the northern tip of the map and you will find three aliens. Then you must kill them. They each have laser pistols and are somewhat easier to kill. Kill the leader and take his alien blaster. It has a fair amount of ammo for being rare and not being able to get more for it. But as soon as you have it the deathclaws should be way easier if a one-shot kill on most of them.

The giant radscorpion is a really stupid enemy. You're gonna find it in a small canyon on the path to scorpion gulch meat an ncr station. you should either have an alien blared or guass rifle and if you cant get those, get a companion or use the ncr support radio if you have it.
