  • Kinda sad that both Aston Martin and Peugeot factory teams cancelled their programs. I am eager to see how Toyota does with their program this year.

Ultimately I would love to see the LMP Class rival the golden years of GT1 and LMP900 during the late 90's.

I would love to see Mercedes-Benz come back and reverse the curse of unfortunate events that caused them to quit for good.

I love Le Mans and its supporting programmes. Here's to them finding a way to continue to thrive.

  • This car was so embarassingly bad at Le mans, twas unreal...

  • Is this what we can expect from F1 with the turbo 6 rule in 13'? It isn't bad but the current V8 is a frightening sound compared to this.

  • sounds nice, nothing compared to the v12 tho :(

  • Fuck diesels.

  • I expected it to sound really bad seeing as it is a V6 rather than a V12 however I was deeply wrong! Awesome capture!

  • @MattMK45 Thanks!

  • @MattMK45 I think you mean inline 6 mate :)

  • @TheSpiralZeroTheory Oops! I read the description wrongly lol!

  • @MattMK45 straight 6 but yeh it sounds better than what ud expect shame it broke down in the first few laps of lemans in 2011

  • anyone know what max boost pressure is on this engine?

  • RIP AMR One, ill starred but fundamentally flawed.

  • this sound is much better than the audi or peugeot if you ask me

  • @mkampinga Yeah there's something fundamentally awesome about a turbocharged petrol engine at peak form; the sound is more classic race car than the turbodiesels. But those (Audis' in particular) sound just as awesome to me for their otherworldly qualities.

  • That's a legendary sound man. That's the type of engine noise that people look up 30 years later <3

  • this car has been canned officially now

this is longest video that will ever feature this car

  • They need to get one of the ferrari v12 engines used in the Ferrari 642/643 from formula 1. You cannot beat it!

  • V6, V8 or straight or wankel or whatever the displacement is...the engine sounds like one of those oldschool F1 V12 from back in the 80'es. Sends a chill down my spine. I'm sensitive to loud noises, but goddamn I love the roar this engine makes.

  • Sounds like a BMW.

  • Wow! Rare and valuable film of a rare and unloved monster.

I particularly like the shot approaching the second chicane and run to Lesmo, the Ascari chicane shot is like the professional F1 tv angle.

Brilliant film, many thanks for sharing.

  • Anyone there knows anything about Aston Martin will make new LMP1 car because the AMR-One failed. Its slower than thier old LMP1 car and thats not really good.

  • @Ornqiraj At Le Mans it was outqualified by LMP2s... 22 and 25 on the grid, over 20 seconds off the pace of the diesels- not far above the GT cars!

Utterly horrendous pace, utterly horrendous aero (low downforce and high drag ftw!), utterly horrendous car.

Aston need to get their act together- they said that they were going to challenge the diesels, but they drowned in their petrol.

  • Pity we never heard it as it spent most of its time in the garage!

  • this car sucked

  • The 007 aston martin....

  • I remember this first time I saw and heard that brick on wheels in Le Mans this year. It entered start finish with a GT car on its back and it was n't able to establish any gap while the Audi and the Pug went circles around them. To hear that strange engine concept for real was a torture for everybodies ears. Every single rev sounded like the engine was in great pain. Some say that if you listened a bit closer you could even hear it scream "STOOOOOOOOOOOOP IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT"

  • @DARTCG that's why it always broke then i guess

  • Sounds good....But I've gotta say this car has been one of the biggest let downs of all time....it looks so clumsy compared to ALL the other P1 cars and it really didn't turn a single competitive lap at Le Mans this year....and now the whole program has just kinda dropped off the face of the earth. On the other hand I was lucky enough to have seen and heard the 2009 Lola Aston Martin V-12 in action at the 12 Hours of Sebring last year and it now holds the rank of my favorite race car of all time

  • @XXformula

If you were at Le Mans you should know that there was a Lola Aston Martin on the track too this year (2011).

Vanina ickx the doughter of Jacky ickx drived in the Kronos Racing Lola Aston Martin the same model as

''Muscle Milk Racing'' is using. So you saw it at Sebring and at le Mans this year + you saw the fail AMR-Ones like me

  • @1988Carlsberg However this isn't F1, it's Le Mans. BMW showed up at Le Mans in 1998 and totally failed miserably and came back next year with a brilliant design and won.

  • This car failed, was promising, but wont have logged an hour of ILMC race time. But in that time is was very close and competitive.... with GT cars. Aston will try again next year, will have to see what they come up with, I hope it's good, because nothing went good with this car.

  • I can't stop watching this video lol. The sound is just mega.

  • love this car

  • I was worried about the rule change in F1 next year. But, if they sound anything like this I'll be happy

  • looks good, sounds good, drives ...

  • @X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X yea, let's not go there. lol

  • I really want them 2 make a better LMP1 car next year :'(

  • AMR-Fail

  • Terrible reliability problems in Le Mans 2011, despite the awesome sound -_-

  • biggest race car fail i can remember............im still wondering y they decided 2 go with a roadster when the advantage is gone. thats the whole reason audi went coupe

  • @DrJCCC20

Don't know if I would go that far matey. Do you remember when Lola Ford entered Formula One in 1997 with the T97/30. They failed to Qualify for the Australian Grand Prix, then turned up in Brazil for the second round of the season, and they pulled out of the sport.

  • Aston are racing in the rest of the ILMC but this car has been ditched so we have the glorious old car back!

  • its such pity they did very bad in 24 hours of lemans :(

  • will this car start another race this year?

  • @MrSharnley009 nobody knows. But personnaly I think this car must not go in any race for the last of this year.

  • @Sagari90 i'd like it to be at silverstone

  • Looked awful, went even worse, we were longing for it to last even into the evening, nowhere near though. It was very, very loud though.

  • @haltoner didnt it do like 3 laps or something

  • Having just seen this car fail abjectly

  • I see that you are closer to the track!!! Great video and sound.

  • stupid stupid stupid car, an embarrisment to the aston martin name

  • The sound reminds me of a typical race-tuned BMW 325i or 330i. Come on, A.C.O., get serious. Le Mans is getting BORING with those babyengine rules.

  • @Henderson2894 LOL. so that's why it was 20-22 seconds off the pace in qualifying and then the two cars managed to complete a grand total of 6 laps in the race? Absolute joke, utter failure of a car, it will not do any race winning.

  • Sounds pretty awesome. Too bad the car itself is rubbish. =/

  • I just thought of what this reminds me of: the 1950 BRM F1 car. It wasn't a bad chassis, but the engine was hopeless! It sounded amazing, but it wasn't all that powerful, was undrivable (don't know if that applied to this) and broke down on the start line as often as not. And look at what happened at Le Mans this year- they broke down at the start!

  • @muulka it depends what you mean by undrivable

in the interviews the car is good around the corners andgot good traction out of the corners

  • @MrSharnley009 I'm tlaking about the BRM engine- the power all came in one big lump at about 6000 RPM, making it really hard to drive- undrivable

  • Such a beautiful car... hope they'll manage to fix the engine problems till next year!

  • Well it would sound great - if they didn't keep breaking down. They completed, what, 6 laps at Le Mans?

  • Tjis car's engine is pure rubbish.... A single turbo l6 is complete idiocy! The l6 configuration is just not suitable for this sort of car- the length of its shafts makes it weak. And look at how long the cars lasted- they retired on the FIRST LAP. And it's slow- the P2s (with much, much less powerful engines, were way faster. Sorry, but this car is terrible in every way. And you can't put it down to lack of funds- look at Pescarolo and Rebellion. Awful, awful, awful.............................

  • @muulka What engine would you use instead?

  • @MrSharnley009 Some sort of V6 world be better in every way- stronger and more compact

  • thats imense!!

  • what happened to the V12. dammit@!

  • sound is amazing

  • B09 IS BETTER...but this is still pretty cool

  • Too bad it's slower than hell...

  • I have one thing to say about this: WOW! I love the sound of that inline-6 engine!! But I agree with volvic2007, Aston Martin doesn't have nowhere near the budget that Audi and Peugeot has to build a quick petrol LMP1 to keep up with diesels or last the distance.

  • fucking AWESOME!!!

  • Thumbs Up if you think this beats the diesels!

  • @TigerOfEchigo you are really stupid if you think that!

  • @eini1988

I mean the sound beats the diesels. Performance wise it's struggling to beat LMP2's at the moment...

  • @TigerOfEchigo in terms of sound, yes but in terms of performance, NO!!! So Go Peugeot!

  • @TigerOfEchigo I realy hope! But this car is not ready, maybe the next year in the FIA endurance world championship?

  • Definitely not as good as the old V12, but this is still pretty sweeeet!

  • Does anybody know Aston's ideas behind the aerodynamics of the car? It just doesn't seem viable for any track, because it seems as though the blocky bodywork isn't going to help produce downforce, but the open-top design will produce more drag, which will hurt at Le Mans. I just think that they should have gone with a closed-cockpit for less drag given the huge power disadvantage to the diesels.

  • is it a twin turbo or single turbo....im 80% sure it a single turbo....

  • @aheartattack1 Single turbo. Two chargers is not even allowed for petrols. Naturally no problem with diesels...

  • @aheartattack1 single inline 4

  • @MRvelite083 Its a turbo 6 mate, get it right

  • sounds very much like a 917 with faster gear change. thats it im going on line now to book my ticketssee you at the esses peeps!

  • Go Aston, fantastic sound !

  • 0:53-0:55 it sounds like the old peugeot

  • 1:32-1:34 OMG!!!

  • I'll take Aston over Audi any day, especially with that sound coming from its ass! I'm still a Peugeot fan though, GO PEUGEOT!!!

  • Is this what the V6's for the IZOD IndyCar series will sound like next year?

  • @DavidSkywalker01 I don't know. But this engine is not a V6 cylinders. It's a 6 in line cylinders ;)

  • @19Bozzy92 doh, thats right. o well....

  • @19Bozzy92 no its an inline 4 turbo know your stuff

  • @MRvelite083 Maybe you should learn your stuff, because this is a Turbo inline 6. Maybe you shouldve checked out the Aston Martin racing website first...

  • @19Bozzy92 And this tried to keep up with audi's V10 ?

  • @19Bozzy92 I think they call this type of engine with 6 cylinders in line a "straight 6". Love your videos ! I have to say , when i try to find any logical reason to why i like to see and hear some weird looking cars going round and round , again and again around a track i come up with nothing ... so i throw away the logic and keep on looking like a drug addict ! Keep bringing us good stuff , you are doing a great job ! :)

  • @Fratzicka Thank you so much for the nice comment!

  • @DavidSkywalker01 probably not, they are prolly gonna be a little more throaty with higher revs because they dont have to go for 24hrs in a shot

  • @djbadlt Well heck, thats even better! Thanks for the reply!

  • @DavidSkywalker01 well thats just my theory ... and theyre prolly not gonna have the sputtering and coughing coming out of the corners because Indycar doesnt allow TC ... but i digress ... i would like to see THIS Aston Martin engine in the back of one of those Indycars in 2012 or 13 ... ive always liked the sound of an inline-6 ... and if you think this sounds nice ... listen to the TVR Sagaris ... almost as nice as the Ferrari V-12s they used to run in F1

  • @DavidSkywalker01 like an I6

  • @DavidSkywalker01 its an I6

  • @DavidSkywalker01 The engine is different than IndyCar. The new LMP cars are diesel so they get better MPG. These things are used for endurance racing so they need to stay out as long as possible. They also have some of the comfort of road cars. The closed cockpit cars have A/C and a drink system that hooks up to the helmet.

  • Nice shots, good job!!

But i dont think they will be ao track for long time at LM.....

I love AM, but this one is a fail...Maybe next year..

  • @volvic2007 Thanks a lot for the comment! We have only to see next week what will happen.

  • @volvic2007 yeah it didnt go well for AMR

  • @volvic2007 I think they were running for a grand total of 10 minutes. Neither of them made it past the 30 minute mark.

  • Still a pretty sweet sound... but HELL, it looks like a brick with wheels. It won't win baeuty contests for sure!

  • @LegoExotics Neither will the R18 or 908, but they sure look refined and "fast".

Good if AMR is making progress but they're so much behind schedule already.

  • @LegoExotics You're right. The front is ugly. But I like the lateral side!

  • hell yeahh! inline turbo 6cyl FTW!!!

  • nice sound

    thanks for sharing

  • cazzo che sound fantastico :O ...... +1

  • @NM2255 Già! Me lo aspettavo molto meno rumoroso e anche più grosso, un po' come la maggior parte dei motori sovralimentati.

  • excellent i hope the team have a good 24hr !!! they deserve some good luck . YES .. see it in the flesh next week ..

  • excellent i hope the team have a good 24hr !!! they deserve some good luck .

  • sounds pretty mean, not as sweet as the v12, but good still. just wish the car was more pretty....

  • Didn't think I'd say this, but it rivals the old V12 in terms of sound effects. Won't last as long as the V12 this year though at Le Mans.

  • @vikirad No the sound of the V12 is very particular and probably one of the beastest. But the 6cylinder sounds good too, and more like we think before. This year is the only year we can compare these cars: the new AMR-one official and the Lola B09/60 of kronos.

  • Well i like the v12 a lot more!

  • It should be racing at Petit Le Mans over here in the U.S. this year; if so, i can't wait! I don't know how you find out about these tests, but they're awesome! :)

  • @kevinmosleyI I know about these tests because they put the dates on Monza Circuit website and also a friend of mine tells me when there will be some prototypes tests at Monza.

  • Sounds good.
