How can you say Taiwan is an independent country on the one hand, but on the other hand say that is part of One China? This is double talk purely for political expediency and that's what people are concerned about.
The next step for close relationship is for the PRC to allow the KMT to establish a presence in the mainland. I think this is the best way to get things rolling :-)
European countries shouldn't butt into their business, we have NOTHING to do with what goes on between China and Taiwan. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the best thing to do is to leave China and Taiwan to solve their own problems. That is the best solution. Also, until a FINAL decision has been made, we cannot jump to conclusions about whether Taiwan is independent or not. Until we do get a decision, lets just leave them to it. Don't interfere.
I hate how European countries are delibrately trying to make relationships worse between China and Taiwan, it's none of our business so why are we butting in? Let the countries solve their own problems, that is the best solution! And we can't say for sure whether Taiwan is independent or not because there hasn't been a final decision yet. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the truth is the truth, until a FINAL decision is made, we can't jump to conclusions. :)
This man, as CNN addressed him, accepting Suzerainty from PRC, introduced a Trojan horse policy, which essentially comprise an old Chinese immigration tactic 移民實邊 "immigrate and consolidate frontier", which also compromised the Security of the State; he even allow retired Military officers to address " PRC, ROC we are all Chinese Military " on recent meeting in China. "Sovereign" when he referred is to Western Media, Domestic, but China.
@knightsfly5 the definition of communism is that it is a theory advocating elimination of private property, a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed....so i don't know what the fuck you mean by ruled by one leader, they have a chairman but they also have a collective of leaders who makes decisions. Free...hmmm so are you saying chinese people are tied to their knees as slaves? Candidate Ma is not even from Taiwan which show how STUPID they are to let him run
As American Taiwan born, I believe that Taiwan was got independence in "de facto" but still not in the "de jury". US and all Western countries was already support Taiwan independence. They didn't said it to China just because "WE ARE LOVE PEACE NOT WAR" only China love war! They prove it with support Taiwan military to counter China fake military(only picture everywhere)!!! BTW, this Taiwanese president was KMT and actually KMT was from China, so its just China propaganda in Taiwan. Thanks
@JKB6106 no, many decades ago , usa says that taiwan could resist china for about 3 month resistance, few years ago , usa says taiwan couldnt even stand a week against china, china is strong, they strongly helped vietnam war, korea war, china stoped usa and made it to retreat(im not saying which country is correct for the war ok?)
@Stridus7 no, even usa oppose taiwan independence, there is a video about it in youtube, china wont invade ,thats plain stupid cause they noe no country would recognize it as a country, and even they are independence their economics will fall sharply,so china knew their independence plan will fail, and US is afraid of china,us owes them a huge money.another proof that usa is afraid of china is that they always make shows or video saying china is a threat which is not of course
@another505 yes the US owns China money but there are not affraid of China nor military or economicly. China treatent US with sactions for the the Taiwan arms deal but the US ignore them and still continue the deal, or when China demands the US to leave the South China sea, the US did the opposide by increasing the security.Or remember when the US put a stop at the China-Isreal arms deal. China was very angry at the US, but the US simply dont care
@Stridus7 yes,but usa still oppose taiwan independence, they noe that independence in taiwan will greatly anger china, and china is ignoring taiwan, and taiwan has nearly gave up independence movement,do support taiwan independence?
@another505 US doesn't want Taiwan to say out loud to the world "we are independent" b/c it will ruin the US's relationship with China - US economy will suffer majorly without China. The US wants Taiwan to say their independence "silently" if you know what I mean. Regarding war, think about it like this: If there is war in a democratic country, ALL the democratic nations in the world will come support. Look at what the US is doing in Middle East now - spreading Democracy to the totallian leaders
@faYte0607 Hi. I just want to say I agree with you fully on every response except one. Living in the US and Shanghai, the political climate is the same when discussing Taiwan: US intervention. Research Frendliness Treaty and you can see China has FULL military support of the Russians. Research BRICS and they too will support China with the 57 countries that provide China with resources. Most of those countries does not like the US. If things happen, US+ EU allies are in tough position to help
@Stridus7 Well 1) No country is as softhearted as u think, be nice and u'll lose in the end so US doesn't support for no reason Taiwan.. 2) China isn't afraid of the US, the US still owes them money so i don't think it's a good idea to start a war for both countries cuz that'd result in chaos and tragedy for both US and China :( War causes more pain.. 3) There'd be no point in invading Taiwan if China forced the people to move to Taiwan in the first place.. :S

@lSzeSze Taiwan runs its own affairs, has its own government, military, currency and exercises sovereignty over its geographical location.
It is a De Facto independent state however much the PRC wishes otherwise.

I have done some research and Taiwan is not a weak country. They are ready for a war with China. I'm sure China will lose in the war with Taiwan.

@another505 War with Taiwan means war with the US.
China wont invade Taiwan because they are affraid of the US, otherwise they would invaded Taiwan decades ago.
Taiwan is not alone in this.
