  • amerikanprincess--thanks for your post. I love Streets Of This Town, it's my fave Forbert album. I did not know it was a sober comeback. Forbert has always been highly under rated in my opinion.

  • STREETS OF THIS TOWN is one of my favorite albums of the 80s. The songs still go through my head, especially "Live and Breathe" and "Mexico." Taped it off the radio premiere on WNEW-FM and saw Steve at a club in NYC when he was touring to support it. Used to think this was called "Gone" - shows you how few titles I got while taping. Raise your hand if you know what STREETS OF THIS TOWN is about: it was his comeback when he got sober. That's why it's more spiritual than his earlier work.

  • Steve gives me chills with his words and voice. On my top 5 favorite artists of all time.

  • He Still tours ! Came to Leeds last year at the New Roscoe.

  • I saw Steve play once and he's one of my all time favorite artists

  • 1980...on the East Coast of NZ kicking back n tuning into this awesome guy... wicked stuff...

  • fantastic and poignant... man should be right p there.

  • A really great album that my wife and I remember well - I still have the vinyl but no record player, alas. Thanks for posting.

    Are you watching, Ken?

  • easy listening, nice,

  • luv him what a talent , so under rted

  • fantastic steve,briliant mouth harp.keep going.

  • I had heard Romeo's Tune but had no idea he was from Meridian, Mississippi about a 2 1/2 hour drive away from where I grew up until I listened to "Streets of This Town" and I thought, "why don't we talk about him being a famous Mississippian as much as Oprah, Walter Peyton, or Jim Henson?" Brilliant, simply brilliant.

  • Steve is great. This record got a lot of play at my house

  • One of my favorites of his.

  • Awesome!

  • I worked for Steve a few gigs many years ago as a local stage manager. Nicest guy in the world, very unassuming (and this was in the heyday of Romeo's Tune)-beautiful lyrics that speak to me

  • Wow, thanks for posting. I had this album way back in the day and it is so very memorable, Beautiful song!

  • The man is pure genius.

  • This is not my favorite song. I am sitting here with my Martin playing along with Steve over and over again. I want to be able to do this song with the ease that Steve does more than anything. Thanks to whoever posted it.

  • I meant to say "This is now my favorite song", not "This is not my favorite song". I wasn't logged in and it put me down as kjulehh. I am katsfather.

  • Besides Willie Nile he was one of my sing and song writer favourites late 70s and early 80s Happy as a child to hear him again,

    Thanks jeffjn

  • ... and twelve points from the German jury too...

  • another 12 points from sweden
