  • This soup is really easy and good! I tried it tonight and it was amazing. I modified a few things though....i added half an onion to my potatoes while they were cooking. I also did half 1% milk, half heavy cream for the 2 cups of liquid. I also used the Kraft Tex Mex cheese instead. It gave it a little extra zing! Also, I put everything in a food processor to mix it all up. Nonetheless, the soup is VERY good and simple! Thanks for the video!

  • I've never cooked any home made soup before but hopefully I can handle this

  • 2nd video of yours that i've tried making. I'm a 29 year old man who isnt the best chef, and you really made it nice and easy to follow, and this soup turned out wonderful. thanks Betty!

  • @vicmason25 Thanks for your nice feedback! I appreciate it so much! I'm glad you are finding recipes in bettyskitchen that you enjoy!

  • I made this today, without the potatoes, but I'm perplexed. My soup has a really bitter aftertaste, can't figure out why. Would you have any idea what could have possibly gone wrong?

  • @dvinb12345 I would think it would need something like the potatoes to give it a mild taste. Broccoli can sometimes be a little bitter.

  • this looks so yummy!

  • @klskristen Thanks so much!

  • Do you ever use fresh produce or do you always use ready chopped , packaged and imported foods?

    Nice soup .

  • @amadan34 Hi! I have approximately 900 video uploads. You will find something for everyone. I love cooking with fresh produce and I buy vegetables in season at our local farmers' market, and I use fresh herbs from my own herb garden. I also used canned foods and frozen foods during the winter, and also for convenience. I make diet foods quite often, but I also make other foods that people enjoy. This isn't a one-dimensional channel. I try hard to meet everyone's needs.

  • @bettyskitchen

your doing a great job. Wow 900 videos. You should have your own show on TV.

    Maybe you do already

  • Looks yummy! Your pecan pie recipe was a massive hit for me this past holiday season!

  • @mrly262 Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

  • i thought margarine was supposed to be healthier than butter.

  • @MsPurpleMonkey333 I don't know which one is actually healthier. I usually use butter; I sometimes get complaints when I use margarine!

  • can you use olive oil to substitute the margarine?

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you 4 da tip betty.

  • how would u add chicken instead of potato

  • @raymotv1 The chicken needs to be cooked. You could get a rotisserie chicken at the deli section of your supermarket or cook some chicken breast in a skillet and chop it into pieces or you could use canned chicken. Just make the rest of the soup using only the broccoli and cheese as additives, and put in as much cooked chicken as you like. You may have to adjust the liquid--you can add more milk, if it needs it.

    --Betty :)

  • do younger kids love this?

  • @azngirl967 I think they generally like all but the broccoli; you can leave the broccoli out and have a delicious cheesy potato soup.

    --Betty :)

  • Lovely video, thank you. One of my favorite soups. :)

  • looks fantastic

  • i already try it is super god

  • Hey Betty.

I previously made your chicken noodle soup and today I decided to try this soup. It sounded super appealing to me.

I don't know if I did something wrong, but it didn't come out as I had hoped. My cheese sauce didn't look like yours and I don't think it looked like yours at the end either.

Tomorrow I'm going to try the chicken parm casserole. Let's hope I can make it as good as you make it look!!

  • really thick...

  • what da difference between butter and margine : ) ?

  • Butter is natural and is generally considered to be healthier than margarine which is hydrogenated.

    --Betty :)

  • @kokoswirl Margerine has half the fat and is made differently to butter, although butter tastes better.

  • I cannot wait to try this. Broccoli, cheese and potatoes are pretty much my favorite foods and I'm eager to see how they taste together. Love it!

  • I made this as a request, but it really turned out to be great-tasting! I hope you get the opportunity to try it! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • This looks like a winner i'm making tonight for dinner!!!!

  • This is a really good soup! I think you will enjoy it! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • yeah she's right don't put too much salt cause the butter or margine might be salty

  • Thanks for viewing and commenting!

  • betty u are hot lol how old are u? like 24?......lol but soup looks good!

  • I'm 60! Thanks for the compliments--on both accounts!

  • Dear Betty, what If I boil the potatoes in water, like I'm doing mashed potatoes? Would it negatively affect the taste? Thank you for this delicious recipe.

  • That would be fine! It won't be quite as tasty. Maybe you could boil them in chicken broth? Boiling in either water or chicken broth is healthier, and the taste won't be much different. Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • add onion, garlic, and bacon or ham

  • Those are *wonderful* choices! Thanks for the tip! And thanks for viewing!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for this delicious soup! I've made a few versions of this before. This sure was the best! :)

    --Sally

  • Thanks, Sally. I'm glad the soup turned out well for you, and thanks for letting me know!

    --Betty :)

  • i love it! i love it! i love it! i cant wait to have my family taste this! thanks betty!

  • Thanks! I'm glad it turned out well, and I hope your family likes it! Thanks so much for the feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • that looks so good! is that how you make your cheese sauce for your mac n cheese?

  • Exactly! I have three mac 'n cheese recipes posted. This would be the cheese sauce in Betty's Oozing with Goodness Baked Macaroni and Cheese. If you like mac 'n cheese, this is a *great* recipe! It's baked in the oven, while another is baked on the cooktop, and the third is tomato and cheese flavored. Your choice! Thanks for your question! (How perceptive!)

    --Betty :)

  • Looks yummy...broccoli is actually on sale this week at our local Winn Dixie. I'll have to pick some up tonight and give it a try. TY for the recipe.

  • I hope it comes out well for you! I'm glad I posted the recipe in time for you to take advantage of the sale! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • wow! that is the best looking broccoli soup i've seen. thank you so much! i'll try it next weekend and let you know how it turned out! :]

  • I'm glad you like the looks of it. I don't think you will be disappointed with the taste. My family almost licked their bowls clean! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks so good!

Would you be able to show us how to make sweet tea? I live in the UK and I'm coming to the south for a year for like a college exchange thing and in all the handbooks it says that people from the south go through almost as much sweet tea as they do water?!?! I've looked on youtube but there isn't a clear method to making it-I'm sure anything you could come up with would be a whole lot better. It's probably really simple I just don't get it :)

    --Beth x

  • Someone else requested tea also! We *do* drink a lot of tea in the South. I'm afraid we are not very picky about making it, but I will try to demonstrate how I make it. I will have a day of drinks before long. Thanks for the request, and thanks for the compliment!
