you had a cable cord plugged into the back of your pc. i asked can you still watch tv in media center with the cable cord screwed in a cable modem with an ethernet cord going from the cable modem to the pc.
yes. I actually have 4 cable wires going into it now. I just used a 5 way splitter. but you have to pick and choose a splitter as some of them the impedence is too high. I have 5 or 6 of these things and only about half of them let the cable modem connect through them.
That reminds me of my multimedia PC from Samsung Electronics Model MF10, truly a Multimedia PC, works best on MCE but some components when I bought it we're gone but it's fine because the parts are old anyway like the Graphics card (Geforce 2 MX SDR with TV outputs), TV tuner ,wireless KBD and Mouse from Samsung plus an LCD indicator on the front of the CPU. :D and I'm thinking that I will put an MCE OS on my old multimedia PC again. Thanks for the inspiration.
thanks! check out the video response above. I can't leave enough alone, you know. My latest project has an entire computer inside a 3 in 1 lexmark. You lift the scanner lid and it's a flatscreen monitor.
and don't get me started on linuxmce. It doesn't even have a standard interface and looks like it was combined from 8 different programs. Plus it supports less hardware than mythtv's distro does. If they make it a package you can add to ubuntu (for example) i'll give it another shot but until then, it's more trouble than it's worth.
My HTPC only has 3 wires.

I used to have an emachines pc, i found it an absolute piece of shit, id reccomend doing a custom build.

it was an emachines case to start with but it contained mainly dell on the inside. Check out my media center 2.0 video.

if linux wasn't free i'd accuse you of working for them. I have in fact tried every media system out there including:
media center 2005 (microsoft isn't supporting new content)
vista media center (hardware decoder required)
myth tv linux distro (didn't recognize hardware)
myth tv under windows (continuous crashes)
as well as xbmc (almost impossible to get a tuner to work with)
as well as tversity, orb, divx. Vista media center is the one with the most support and features.
