I am very confused as well. I have clicked the little "ocean" thing but all I see is a fuzzy image of blue, how do I get under the surface and how come the water doesn't shimmer like that for me??? What am I missing here????
they don't it is all CGI! Google Earth charges people $500 per person , depending on the program, per year and millions have the program. Money dude, money! it is all fake with lots of mistakes but most people just pay for it and most are from the USA!!
@yetibiker08 google oceans offers free views of ocean terrain for any user. you just need to turn the water surface level off. Its not all entirely correct, some of it is interpolations, but still its a free product so you can choose to use it or not
should be interesting...whether the quality is as good as this I will hold my judgement but I like the fact they are trying something new. The next step space..... where you can look at stars and planets like you are looking though a telescope. Do that and I will be impressed.
We know the countour of 100% of the oceans/sea beds. You dont have to "explore it" to figure that out. Google ocean also doesnt claim to give more information than what has already been explored

You can already view space and the stars in Google Earth, was added in early 2008 or late 2007.

if only 5% of the ocean has been explored, then how is this in any way accurate???

I was kinda hoping to be able to explore Mariana's Trench...or any womans trench for that matter.
JetJockey87 3 years ago
@sirchristopher2000 1) we dont know the contour of the entire ocean bed, only roughly
2) there is new information coming out with better resolution ( from multibeam sonar and other sources ) all the time
