I Love the 2K football Games. They should just go at it as if they had the NFL licenses. We don't necessarily need the Actual License, but just go as far as you can with out violating any laws. Be true to the sport, we play football in the streets, at the park, in arenas, in the living room, and we still enjoy the sport. Just stay true to the sport of football 2K! I'm begging!

2ksports should get the rights of United Football League and licenses of defunct league such as XFL, USFL, and WFL.. They could easily get likenesses of coaches, players and playbooks...
I purchased NBA 2k11 recently for the PC and was undeniably blown away by every ounce of it. Presentation, Graphics, Gameplay, Announcing, you name it. It pains me that I don't really care for Basketball much IRL. Football on the other hand. It needs to happen. 2k it NEEDS to happen. Madden just does not cut it.

I would easily pay over $100 for a high quality 2k football game. I've been playing 2ksports since '99 sega dreamcast. It would have to be much better graphically and options than 2k8, which I purchased. 2k animations have always imo been beautiful, but graphics could improve up to 2011 capability. I can look at replays almost every play animations and intensity were so great.

20 Million? Where'd you get that number from? They made 2K5 for a fraction of that, and APF was even less than that. 2K is not building from the ground up, they already have a mature engine to work from, so only payroll costs are their real expense, and even that's an inclusionary expense since they already have a staff in place. APF sold nearly 400K copies. It only failed profit wise because of the legends signings eating up most of the money.

In 2000 it cost around 2.5 million to run a 15 man team for a year. That was in a time when it only cost around 3 million to make a game. Admittedly sports titles cost less than normal games but we are still talking around 10 million just in payroll not even counting all the other aspects that go into it such as marketing and distribution.
Part 2: Your numbers are just general statements. Each game has different staffing demands, different resource demands, different talent base's, different resource access, etc. So you can't throw up arbitrary numbers like that as factual information. To say 400K units is nothing is a blanket statement that doesn't take into account any of the standard factors I laid out. Whether it's good or bad is based on other factors besides just the final number itself.
As I've said numerous times--and this is a fact that 2K has spoken about publicly--individual licensing killed APF's profits and nothing else. If they were able to get 400K unit sales without that licensing expense they would've made a killing. And that brings me to another misconception I hear a lot "NM didn't make any money off of BB", nothing could be more wrong. The budget was small, expenses were light, they made money and plenty of it. You don't have to sell millions.

The people they have are already assigned to projects. They would have to hire more people in order to form a whole new team either to replace the people they move over or to build the team from scratch.

FYI most of the team that worked on 2K8 worked on 2K5 except for just a few non-essential devs (check the credits for both and compare) and most of those guys STILL work there spread out on other projects. But in this since my player was sliding they called it out of bounds. This effects Gameplay... So They did not get ride of the sliding..

They don't really want to spend money to make game that people won't buy. People won't buy because it can't create full 53 man roster with 32 teams. I propose 2K just make a generic football game with only 2 pre-premade teams. I will create the rest. Don't worry about player likeness lawsuit. Just make it 3 skin tone (light, medium, dark). No logos for teams (we'll make our own damn logos just like EA's teambuilder internet system). Just make sure to port the plays & modes from 2k5. $60 sold.
@SLEEPYHEAD901 - The connection on madden rarely drops for me. i don't play ncaa. Double the glitches of NBA 2K11 !?! Respectively, i Need Proof !! And when i get/see the proof, i still won't believe it. NBA 2K11's online play is horrible, so Laggy, you can play to the 4th quarter and the match will just end. Box out suction, constantly getting stuck in animations. Most of the settings reset All The Time, Like controller & coach settings & the situational Lineups flat out never work for online.

then EA & the NFL got that little deal together & that was the end of 2k :( last year was the first time i played madden in 6 or 7yrs, but i was impressed with it. i'm really wantin 2k to come out with a new football game, i believe next year they can get the NFL licence back if they want cause the contract will be up with EA, we'll see.

They would have to hire more people in order to form a whole new team either to replace the people they move over or to build the team from scratch.
And 400k is failing in sales. 400k doesn't even begin to turn a profit on any quality console game in this generation.

Part 1: I'm not sure you know what delusional means since your usage of it here makes no sense. FYI most of the team that worked on 2K8 worked on 2K5 except for just a few non-essential devs (check the credits for both and compare) and most of those guys STILL work there spread out on other projects. When they made 2K8 this was already the case so it would be no different. And I hate to have to explain simple economics to you but profit is revenue minus cost. Economics 101.

@pasGedden7 I think what 2k and other people are failing to realize, is that 2K DOES NOT HAVE TO COME OUT WITH AN NFL LICENSED GAME. Not everyone, but there will be MANY people who would buy this game if it came out. The thing that 2k HAVE to put into the game is the ability to continue playing the game after one year, with including franchise mode, and other mode like that, Similar to 2k5. 2K DOES NOT have to make football games every year, Just a game every so often.

How in the hell can u call this the 2k standard n its obvious that TSS n everybody else would love 2 c madden come out with quality game. All of us used 2 play madden on the PS2 n xbox when it was good. People have that bad relationship syndrome. U know when a relationship goes bad n u still stay together becuz u remember n the begining when it was all good. EA is cheating on the consumer. @SLEEPYHEAD901 Sorry boss but there is still sliding in Madden 12. Yes there is. No more suction is about right but still sliding.. Check my Madden 12 Demo review @ 2:11 this is just example. But in this since my player was sliding they called it out of bounds. This effects Gameplay... So They did not get ride of the sliding..

They don't really want to spend money to make game that people won't buy. People won't buy because it can't create full 53 man roster with 32 teams. I propose 2K just make a generic football game with only 2 pre-premade teams. I will create the rest. Don't worry about player likeness lawsuit. Just make it 3 skin tone (light, medium, dark). No logos for teams (we'll make our own damn logos just like EA's teambuilder internet system). Just make sure to port the plays & modes from 2k5. $60 sold.

@SLEEPYHEAD901 - The connection on madden rarely drops for me. i don't play ncaa. Double the glitches of NBA 2K11 !?! Respectively, i Need Proof !! And when i get/see the proof, i still won't believe it. NBA 2K11's online play is horrible, so Laggy, you can play to the 4th quarter and the match will just end. Box out suction, constantly getting stuck in animations. Most of the settings reset All The Time, Like controller & coach settings & the situational Lineups flat out never work for online.

At the very least they can try to make a Downloadable 2 to 4 team game that costs MS points on XBL or something. Just so ppl can see what a 2k football game would offer if made. Then if they get a good response from that they can move forward with a full game

then EA & the NFL got that little deal together & that was the end of 2k :( last year was the first time i played madden in 6 or 7yrs, but i was impressed with it. i'm really wantin 2k to come out with a new football game, i believe next year they can get the NFL licence back if they want cause the contract will be up with EA, we'll see.
