Hi Thijsie; Very nice Video and fun to watch . The organ is a real beauty. and so is the carousel. I woul really love to see a steam operated carousel in person maybe some day. Where is this located? Is the platform suspended only by the small diameter triangulated rods on the inside, whithout outside hangers? Thanks so much.
This is in the Efteling themepark in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands. The platform rides on a set of rubber tires on the ground, I believe the rods are there to help support the top section, but I am not entirely sure about that.
@anglerfly What? I never said this was a Pluer organ, it says Gavioli right there in the title and in the video. Pluer restored it and maintains it. And again, "Draaiorgel" is the Dutch collective term under which all automated mechanical organs are placed. As "subterms" you then have for example "straatorgel", "kermisorgel" and "dansorgel". Please don't just spew out nonsense.
@anglerfly All original wooden Gavioli pipework, except for the Picollo, which is metal. European organs don't use calliope pipework (you'd be hard put to find a calliope around here anyway).
The unusual style of the organ music is rather suitable for such a colorful array of mechanical wonders that this machine offers...Lots of action, even for folks who'd rather sit down than ride the horses!
@anglerfly Not quite. This is a very old Gavioli organ, possibly of the kind that served as a template for the Wurlitzer factory when they started up.

I admire how Mr.Van Boxtel arranged "The Charston Rag" and accomidated the instrument's pipe work and percussion.

:O:O:O
ZAngmaus 3 years ago
Thijsie92 3 years ago
ZAngmaus 3 years ago
