I think people are misunderstanding the point of the message left on the stones. They were written as a guide for the remnants of humanity in the wake of some sort of disaster. This was commissioned in the middle of the Cold War, when the threat of a nuclear war was a very real thing.

The entire thing with population is that it is INCREASING at a rate of around 2% per year. By 2030 this will be 10.35 Billion people, 2040, 11.85 Billion, 2050, around 13.35 Billion souls alive on the surface. At our current rate of food production (not even counting the millions that die daily from starvation Today, 2012), there will not be enough to go around without significant changes in the way we live, reproduce, and feed the worlds population. This is basic math people....

Not a bad guide. Whoever wrote this was very nterested in a society where humanity could live in harmony with itself and nature. I know some people see ths as a conspiracy but we live in a world with finite resources so overpopulation is a problem. The seond one that talks about guiding reproduction is a little too extreme though. It is a very pragmatic and rational guide but there are certain things that go beyond pragmatism and rationalism.

@maharley27 I don't think that humans, as a species, are the "problem." I would say that the problem is that we try to protect every single life on the planet (including the stupid ones) by protecting people from themselves. We don't allow people to ride bicycles without helmets because they might fall & get hurt. SO WHAT! That's part of life. If you were doing something risky or stupid, then the risk is on you (& I imagine you know that). Personal responsibility is the key.

Now, if you really believe that we could lose a few human beings, how about we get rid of all of our "safety" regulations REGARDING dangers involved with the CHOICES that people make. Example: seat belts. I wear them. I'd wear them without the laws. But do I care if anyone else wears them? No. You don't get in a car accident & carry on through the air & hit a daycare center like some heat seeking missile. Its a choice.

What im saying is finding solutions to reinvent ourselves. To save our planet from the already dwindling resources that have been dissapearing faster in the last 200 years. I know farmers have been destroying their crops because more supply would cause a deflationary reaction in the economy. Planned obsolesence is another example of how our system is wateful.

Um lolz chemtrails aren't real. And I see nothing wrong with the Georgia Guidstones. Everything on the Georgia Guidestones is something we as humanity should strive to achieve. A population of 500,000,000 is a lot better than a population of 7,000,000,000. If we allow our population to grow uncontrollably, the consequences will be disastrous. Not only does a large population strain the environment, but it also encourages war, violence, and racism. A large population means more competition.

It seems to be SO INTERESTING that the majority of people see the Guidestones as a mandate for World De-Population. This is false. Let's think about this:
The Statement for population size deals with the aftermath of a global catastrophe. For those who follow Steven Greer. He was asked on the radio yesterday (Oct 21, 2011) if he knew about the Georgia Guidestones. He answered that he did not know of it. So the interviewer, Nancy du Tertre, explained it to him, mentioning its first commandment about keeping the Earth's population down to 500 million. Greer totally dismissed this as a wrong approach, and said that the answer is enlightened technology and an enlightened way of living, and not setting numerical limits.

Factor in the fact that if this point forward everyone were to only have one baby, allowed one child, then in a hundred years, the populace would already be halved.
