I like the way it's worded in Dutch: "I have loved You, but never so much as now". I never could make any sense out of the English words: "If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, 'tis now." It sounds like you mean: "I may not love You, and I may not ever have loved You, but if I ever do love You or did love You, now is the only time it could be." I think that is ridiculous!

Ben het eens met de kritiek van Spider21056, waarom niet het hele nummer als samenzang en niet de "draaistem" van deze soliste. Het is juist zo'n puur nummer, het lievelingsnummer van mijn overleden vrouw waarbij we dit lied zongen in haar afscheidsdienst nu ruim 5 weken geleden.
