Faced with the possibility of being separated from his young son and daughter and his (common-law) wife, and his band, and rotting in a jail cell for a quarter of a century, he recorded some of the most heart-rending songs that you will ever hear-- including this, and a beautiful version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
