  • "God is one; and he himself does not as some suppose, exist outside the world, but in it, he being wholly present in the entire circle... the first principal of all things, the light of heaven, and father of all, the intelligence and animating soul of the universe, the movement of all orbits." ~ Attributed to Pythagorus by Justin Martyr (Pythagorean Sourcebook)

  • @MySocksSmell2 Thanks for all your quotes!! They are an inspiration themselves!!

  • @PanDeism After checking sources, I think I made a mistake. The quote supposedly from the Sufi poet Ibn al 'Arabi - (God sleeps in the rock, dreams in the plant, stirs in the animal, and awakens in man) is likely a variation of a quote from German philosopher Friedrich von Schelling (1775-1854) and reads: "Mind sleeps in stone, dreams in the plant, awakes in the animal and becomes conscious in man." Either way, to me, God, Mind and Consciousness are all basically the same concept.

  • "One grand great life throbs through earth's giant heart, And mighty waves of single Being roll From nerve-less germ to man, for we are part Of every rock and bird and beast and hill, One with the things that prey on us, and one with what we kill." ~ Oscar Wilde (Panthea)

  • "God sleeps in the rock, dreams in the plant, stirs in the animal, and awakens in man." ~ Ibn al 'Arabi

  • "The One is all things. All things are One." ~ Heraclitus.

"Why will you not admit that the universe is a conscsious intelligence since conscious intelligences are born from it?" ~ Cicero.

"He is hidden, yet obvious everywhere. He is bodiless, yet embodied in everything. There is nothing that he is not." ~ Hermes Trismegistus

  • "God is not separate from the world; He is the soul of the world, and each of us contains a part of the Divine Fire. All things are parts of one single system, which is called Nature... " ~ Zeno

  • Cool. where was Thomas Paine and Voltaire?

Also, physicist Paul Davies writings are quite PanDeistic and inspire it

  • OH...and "Dilbert" comic creator Scott Adams who did a PanDeistic book called "God's Debris: a thought experiment"; amongst other thinkers/philosophers and scientists.

    anyways, good vid.

  • @Iconoclastithon Davies is indeed a great inspiration, and Scott Adams book is important, possibly also Frank Tipler, but we decided in the very beginning to not include any living people....

  • @PanDeism

I Wish The Name of His Intelligentia Friedrich Nietzsche is atleast Mentioned.

He can be regarded as "Father of Revivalism of Paganism" , It is He Who Dared to say "A Pagan is One Who Says Yes to Life" unlike The Death cults such as Evangelism and Jehad/wahabi Islam or Communism.

His Intelligentia Friedrich Nietzsche was also A Strong Critic of Communism just as e was Critic of Evangelical Christianity.

  • @humbleRaj There are many more left out than put in, a constraint of the time we limited ourselves to.... but all the greats will eventually get their own vid....

  • @Iconoclastithon We're sad to have left out Voltaire.... there are many other great ones we didn't have space for in time with the music we picked.... also among writers, Arthur C. Clarke and Asimov.... and among philosophical minds, we are sorely missing Avicenna and Gandhi, and among scientists Edwin Hubble, Anton van Leeuwenhoek....

  • @PanDeism

Paine even more popularized deism than even Voltaire did. But meh.

    Maybe a part 2?

  • @Iconoclastithon Our plan, actually, is to make individual vids on each of the thinkers, summing up what they bring to the table that we take heart from....

  • @PanDeism "Our plan, actually, is to make individual vids on each of the thinkers, summing up what they bring to the table that we take heart from" I look forward to this series. I've only recently learned about the idea of Pandeism. And, as a Buddhist, the idea fascinates me. Can't wait to learn more.

  • This is a good guide to philosophers. Thanks !

  • @superCatia

Yes Dear Brother, The West Has Several Great Philosophers.

But it's unfortunate that islam, evangelism and maoism are the only three vibrant forms persisting in the west these days.

  • @humbleRaj

Those three are more cult-like ways of thinking, and devoid of any philosophy :) Islam and evangelism are paroxisms of a same root, and maoism is an ideology that aspired to become a religion. (Strange, no? but communism tried to take religions' place.)

  • @humbleRaj Deism and Pantheism are making a comeback, and Pandeism is answering their weaknesses by reconciling their strengths....

  • @PanDeism

:) I am very Happy to learn about The same.

There is a serious conspiracy in the west by Evangelical Missionaries who notoriously are Maligning Pantheism and Atheism with Hitler and Nazis.
