I love this Miller version of FRENESI. The Benny Goodman version is also great. The Shaw version is the best known and is marvelous to listen to.
That's the great thing about the bands of that time. The best ones could take material from another band and make it sound entirely different....and good.
@Swingsation65 Indeed. Glenn was far too savvy to try and compete with an ideal arrangement. Listen also to his really blues version of take the a train-absolutely brilliant and so different from Duke's definitive version that it could almost be a different song=which was the whole point!
Though the Glenn Miller Band is my all-time favorite, Glenn kind of missed the mark on this one. But then, who could do Frenesi better than Artie Shaw?
Can anyone tell me what is the meaning of "Marinba"?
Here in Brasil means a kind of a line with somewhat like a stone tied in one of it's end, used by kids to rescue a kite when it grash on a tree, light stand, etc.
El Luis Arcaraz de los Estados Unidos de América se llama GLENN MILLER. Ambas orquestas, espectaculares e irrepetibles. Y qué delicia escuchar el otro gran éxitio del mexicano Alberto Domínguez llamado FRENESI.
Great band, not one of the better versions of this tune, though. "Frenesi" is supposed to be a rhumba, and the arranger here turned it into a funeral dirge.

Tengo 39 años y mi padre QEPD me enseñó a apreciar la buena música a la edad de 5 o 6 años, en un tocadiscos con discos de acetato. Que nostalgia...

it's not as good as artie shaw's version, but then again, if all musics are the same, where would we be now? Thanks for the upload!

I wouldn't go that far. It is not as good as Shaw's, yet better than some others.

frenesi is supposed to be a marimba and it's composed by alberto dominguez, my grandfather
tartas2001 3 years ago
You mean a piece for the marimba, correct?
What was the original tempo and style?
BardCoennius 3 years ago
Such a great tune and Glen Miller and his band were tops. After all these years it holds its own.

Very nice!! I enjoy these orchestra/brass type sounds. How do you perfectly place the needle on the beginning of the song? I always have troubles
AccordionManiac 3 years ago
Lots of practice! Actually if I screw up at the very beginning I just start over again.
