Nice. I have a similar build except that I'm running only 1 GTX285 and multimonitor with a Matrox Tripplehead. Am using REX2 for enhancement. You have more color depth. What are you using for that?
Don't spend too much on graphics card, FSX was programmed to do most of the work on the CPU. The only exception, is if you intend to setup a multi-monitor rig. In that case a Radeon with eyefinity on 3 monitors would appeal to me.
Now, if you really want to take FSX or indeed FS9 to the next level, try something called "Multi Crew Experience". You'll have to find it yourselves though.
@bigsparrow1 Thank you and I think I have taken FSX to the next level, with 3 SSD's the ATI Radeon 5970 6 gbs of Dominator GT 2000mhz ram and Windows 7 64 bit. It is better than ever before. See my new videos. Thank you for watching.
SLI and Crossfire for FS/FSX is useless. Its benefits are marginal for this particular games (<15% FPS increase) therefore investing in a second video card is money thrown out of the window.
Just so you know, I have a new system I built and the old one was sold. Look at the new video and see the i7 920 at 4.2ghz presently on air cooling. I just finished the build in january and it is faster and more powerful than the previous.. Thanks for watching. I recommend the i7 920 and have someone who know how, overclock it.
yes, the addon clouds like inREX and active sky uses much higher res textures so your GFX card needs a bit more juice, but 3 285s are a bit overkill for FSX even with awesome addons
Dont have the PC anymore, building a new one. Sold the previous one. I switched to GTX 295's after the GTX 285's. Im waiting for new cards to hit the market before I build another one.
That was actually real weather I downloaded. I was probably at 25,000 ft. It was stormy that day. I was somewhere off the coast of Virginia or North Carolina.
Just Bought a Nvidia 9600 GT and still struggling past 10 in high density areas what is the cheapest solution to get Frames of between 30-50 At the moment I have A Pentium 4 2.1Ghz with 2Gb of DDR2... plz reply i need help... plan on adding to my collection of vids already
If you want 30-50 frames in dense areas, you would need to upgrade your CPU if not your GPU. I would say you need either a quad core CPU running at clock speeds, or a dual core running at 3+ GHz. Also, you need a few more sticks of RAM. An upgrade that would satisfy you would probably cost 300-400 dollars. The cheapest solution you can go with right now is a new CPU for sure, which would be roughly 200 dollars including a cheap and compatible motherboard.
I bought a GTX295 and got the same performance, if not better out of a 8800GT. I have now got a GTX260 and runs around 15-20fps faster than the 295. Getting around 55-60 avg now!!
Great video mate...I recently got 'Real Environment Extreme' Its the most amazing weather/water effects Ive seen...takes up some resources but its awesome. Jealous of your graphic card setup. :p It must help, but its a known fact that FSX relies more heavily on the processor than anything else for smooth frame rates to handle that scenery. Graphic card of course still matters, but also handles alot of the autogen etc.
this is no proof at all as an external camera doesn't exclude post-processing. neither does in-game but it has a clearer image so it's harder to post-process a lot.
yep I kind of chuckle when I see sli. Im trying to see if this graphics card would blow my 8800 gts out or not but they say its like 2 cards in one so Im thinking sli? cause it wont change then. It looks like its pretty awesome. but sli does nothing for me
i realy am looking for a good computer to run FSX i had this pc in mind but i dk know if its eny good for FSX i was wondering if i can link you the Computer and you could tell me :D you would be camp man if you could help! Cheers and very nice vid
Ok, i looked at it. If the set up is what they are showing then it is not worth it. most of what it has is out dated and it would need a lot of upgrading. If you want a PC get one that atleast comes with the i7 processor. Plus the cards should be GTX 285 atleast. Thats my opinion.
Hi there mate! I would like to ask you about you TRI SLI set up! I've got TRI SLI GTX 280.. but they don't do the job right. they can closely pull FSX on max but they lag at some points. But It's when i add more antialising through my Nvidia setting it laggs badly! plus some game are better of played with SLI turned off! Tell me how did you setup yours? what's the trick? it's the second system i have that doesn't work wit GTX 280 TRI SLI?
I started with one then I went to 2 and finally ended up with 3 cards. I play FSX to the fullest, well what my system is able to do. I have found the more cards, the less strain they have on them. Keep in mind that you also need to have more than 3.0 ghz of processing speed. That's the most important part.
FANTASTIC!!! I also love FSX, but, do you think it's worth upgrading to a 3-way? I've one GTX285 for the moment, and playing on a 24". But I'm planning on getting a second GTX, but a third? Have you tried with only 2 GPUs? thx ;)
Wow only 4 frames more then me gosh I hope my 275 gtx gives me a better improvment then that when i get it. I'm using an onboard ati radeon hd 3300 right now an I'm at a steady 20fps with everything on ultra. Though I did just build my pc like a week ago so maybe that's it.
Just focus and see it in your mind. My advice though is to not buy it made. It is better to make it your self. Cheaper and you will get the better parts for the money. I compared a PC put I put together on AlienWare and it was over 6,000 and it didnt have everything my PC has. If you want to ask my opinion on what to by i dont mind giving it...
Man I used to say the same thing then I got this summer job working on computers at the college which is where I am now. An now I finally got my first beast PC its a good feeling man let me tell ya. When you just don't care about the requirements an just pick up whatever you want. I'm currently loving Mass Effect an can finally play FSX on all ultra high. An I haven't even gotten my graphics card yet.
LOL.
FSX don't work in SLI

@TheDulith if you mean the plane it is PMDG and the sky was Active Sky which you can get from Sim Market.

You do realise that fsx only detects 1 video card? If u had a gtx 295, it would run at half i.e. have equivalent performance to a GTX 260?

its all about the cpu my 3.8ghz quad core is always reaching 100 percent but my 4890 is at like 40 percent

The real advantage to multiple GPU's is using multiple LCD's. My friend has a sweet SLI config and we get the same FPS and I only have one GTX265

it is lagging because of bad CPU ;) Fsx doesn't require such graphics. I could run it like that with my Geforce 7600GS :))

Nice quality video! Could you please perform a test on FSX, with 1 video (by itself), then running the GTX 285 on SLI, and then on Tri SLI?
Would be very much appreciated, and I'm going to be purchasing a brand new $3500 computer to play FSX and some other games, but mostly for FSX.
If you could post video's what kind of performance you get, that would be AWESOME.
If it's not possible, please let me know what FPS you get for one card, SLI, then Tri SLI. Thanks!

yes it does. I went from 30-35 to 45-50 with the same settings. (1 8800gtx to 2)(switching to 1 gtx295 soon)
MTFDarkEagle 2 years ago
hmm...from what i understand it shouldn't even utilize SLI, 45-50fps lol, why would you want any more?
madedownunder 2 years ago
That was with the same settings.
I then made the setting so the fps was around 30 :) That's enough for me in fsx
