  • looks like the left rear column utterly failed, The question is how old is this lift and did it act strange or make noise before this happend?

  • must be one of those cheap ass china made lifts...i guess in china they are ok ..i mean their cars are probably only 1,200lbs ..keep china shit in china

  • @390merc65 I'm pretty sure I heard that lift go -C H I N K- just before it collapsed

  • @CrudeDude lol..you are probably right

  • scary shit

  • hahaha made in china

  • something like this kinda happened to me when i was back in school i had my moms car on a two post lift and the smaller wire for the lower release lever snaped and the car droped like 6 in or so and as a mechanic studnet and it being my moms car my heart sank but lucky for me there was no damage and we found a way to manually lower the car but still was to close of a call.

  • too heavy! those vans need a special lift

  • looks like a lift failure could of been a seal failure and cused the whole system to losse preasure or a fail at a weld. Sux to be owner of that garadge i smell law suit loll

  • this is what happens when you don't do monthly hoist inspections

  • looks like there's a bunch of ladders on top of the van and who knows what else was inside the van adding lots more weight for the lift to support.

  • I will stick to my Canadian built hoist thank you lol

  • made in america by eminems

  • i told you it was too heavy

  • UH-OH SPAGHETTIO'S

  • Buy a Chinese hoist and this is what happens

  • this is what happens when you buy a Chinese made hoist. Ratings on them are pure BS. Don't know why there aren't better regulations on the lifts.

  • ITS NOT A CAR! NOR DID IT FALL OFF!

  • @2009jimmy2009 Really? The definition of a car is a motor vehicle with 4 wheels and the definition of fall is to descend.

  • the chain broke and clearly the cocks didnt catch it io had the chain break to the hydrolics when i had a big ass cargo work truck above me it fell about 4 feet before the locks caught i about shit myself

  • Looks to me like the lift broke. Not caused by "stupid people"

  • It's a van.

  • Hay joe when was that last inspection on the hoist?

I believed it was ten years ago....whooops it bit late on the inspection.

    Ah EPIC FAIL.

  • hope they weren't part of the good garage scheme :L:L

  • never ever trust hydraulics

  • made in China

  • I'm a mechanic apprentice, and every time I'm under a car I'm afraid it's gonna fall.

Alot of people don't lower the vehicles onto the safety pins, and let the hydraulics hold the car up for instead. Then one day the hydraulics fail and this happens. 90% of mechanics work unsafe because of flat rate time, they don't have the spare time to work safe because of dealership / show owners trying to get them to cut corners to make money, and this shit is the result.

  • some pedofile wont have their van ready in time

  • I install these hoist the cable obviously broke then the lock on the rear right failed . This could all be avoided with an annual safety inspection.

  • @rompinray83 are you serious??? Well I don't install these and you can CLEARLY see the operator should have stopped the hoist because the van was too big. You can see the hoist lifting until the top of the van reaches the roof...it continues to lift but cannot go up anymore. That is what it caused to break. Like since you know more about these...don't they have a safety mechanism that would automatically stop it? (jam or ROOF LOL)...if not lets go into buisiness and invent it, ok?

  • wheres the car?

  • You know when you've entered a bad garage when all the Mechanics are migets or dwarfs. Crusshhh

  • Been tech 30 years and this scares me too,,, but the lift failed from the looks of things. Hope no one got hurt.

  • Wal-mart? Looks like it

  • gawd! im in ninth grade and in auto tech. we have to take a test next class where we lift 3 different cars by ourselves. What's harder? a sub or full frame?

  • well, could be worse

  • This is why I use a pit instead. (That, and I can't afford a lift. I can afford a hole.)

  • @TheOldCrankyWorkshop I dunno man, I've had a few 'holes' that have cost me alot....especially in alimony, more than a lift costs thats for sure

  • I always thought if that ever happened to me my quick reflex will bail me out but after seeing this....no way

  • SnapOn Lifts all the way!!!!

  • thats why only use genie lift brand lifts

  • Why did you say "stupid people"? It had nothing to do with anybody there being stupid, just that the lift itself failed and collapsed.

  • holy wah

  • looks like the lock on the lift broke

  • All on the FAILLIFT!

  • Whoa ! Talk about a bad day at work. Least nobody got hurt, and it wasn't the tech's fault either.

  • Does my insurance cover this?

  • I'm a mechanic and i always check the bolts and the condition of the lifts where i work and doing that i have found lose bolts on the lifts leaking seals i had to fix myself 4 my own safety bad bushings that disengage the safety locks and when i see this i tell someone if they don't listen i just quit the place cause this happens when the cheap ass owner don't want to pay a proffesional to install the lifts so if u encounter a cheap lift u might want to consider checking installation before use

  • yeah. Lift broke. car didn't fall.

  • didnt fall off the lift broke

  • just wait till the owner heres about this one lol

  • I'm so astonished nobody has died at my old high school from their old crappy lifts. We almost had a mid 90's suburban fall off during my class!!!!!

  • cheap ass store manager didnt do maintenance on lifts he should b fired.

  • Fired...

  • the lift is what failed here not the car falling off...dumb asses

  • That sucks... Busted oil pan, and now he has to spend time to buff out them scratches... haha

  • i think its more than that LOL and yes im replying to ur sarcasm with sarcasm -.-

  • Ropes probably required replacing.

  • i see why if you look closely at the ladder rack on the top of the van you see that the ladder gets squished against the roof.......thus pushing down on the life creating the accident...

stupid boy shoulda concidered the hight as a factor as long with the weight lol

  • @daphill good eye

  • farrrrrrk...

  • lol

  • whats the best lift company?

  • Bendpak or rotary i guess thats what we got they get the job done

  • benwil is pretty good too, thats what we used at the nissan dealership

  • probably a junk ass Bendpak lift cheap chinese crap

  • that scares me!! i used to do oil changes on tons of ford ambulances and full size trucks on the rotary oil rack at one of my prior jobs and at my next job lifting full size trucks with a jank-ass old rusty rack.

  • pmsfl, what is that? a renault 5?

  • i think the lift broke i own a shop and i always tell my guys don't OVERLOAD THE LIFTS work vans are usually filled with tools and parts so the van may be 5000 lbs but the load in it is another 5000

  • the lifts are designed to not lift at all if they are overloaded

  • Comment removed

  • @humvee600 u shut da fuck up

  • im a mechanic and this is my worst fear

  • You and me both! I had to work under an F250 King Ranch today, a 5 ton vehicle.

  • @sixfootjesus I am to and it almost happened to me.

  • @sixfootjesus me too

  • Gota look in the back of them vans or trucks for that extra weight. Damb thats not cool never happened yet after 15 years but almost lost a truck when I took off the front wheels and rotors. I didnt check under the bed cover, 40 40LBS bags of mulch, F350HD so the truck didnt sag any, I just didnt think to look, thank god for fast thinking co-workers. That save got him 2 cases of PBR!!

  • @sixfootjesus I am one too, It is a good thing he wasn't under the lift when it broke

  • @sixfootjesus same here

  • @sixfootjesus Same here dude. Same here.

  • @sixfootjesus thats why you don't work on huge cars!

  • @sixfootjesus LOL same hear, every time im under a car if its a lift or im under a car with two jacks supporting the car, im praying that the car wont fall on me, cause that will be the end of me!!!!

  • @sixfootjesus im a mechanic too man, i work at a toyota dealership and we use 2 post lifts, i gotta say i agree with you in this is my worst fear, i always stop the lift as soon as the wheels come up and il try and shake the car, because if the cars gonna come down, at least it wont be on top of me, also i check the position of the ramp arms when i get it high enough to do whatever im doing with the vehicle.

  • @sixfootjesus me too how long have u been working on cars im @ 8 years

  • @sixfootjesus ditto and agreed...(I'm a shop owner at that)

  • @sixfootjesus hahahaha me too

  • that sucks but those GM work vans are a dime a dozen

  • lol at the anti freeze leaking on the ground

  • The van pissed itself.

  • Harbor Freight has these lifts on sale if anybody's interested?

  • haha

  • looks like a fuckedn bodgy Hoist, I wouldnt call the tech Stupid.... Fuckin douche bags who do deserve the label

  • it must have been a loud fall.... as the thing broke...

  • It broke because the van hit the ceiling!!!!

  • It looks close, you might be right. But I do not think it was quite there yet.

  • wow it didnt fall off that fucka broke!! i would of shat my self!!

  • hahahahahaa i wouls have said the same thing and i agee i would have shat myself too lol

  • car didnt fall off, the lift broke

  • @rexcars27 More like the car hit the roof and forced the hydraulics in the lift out

  • @rexcars27 Agreed! Stupid people not following guideline and over loading the lift. Shame!

  • @rexcars27 lift broke causing the car to fall, dumbass.

  • I bet dude shit his pants when that happened.

  • more like the minivan did...(antifreeze)

  • he is lucky it didn't fall on the other side
