I don't think they'll just break down cause there's electronics in it. Electronics last a whole lot longer than mechanical parts in most every other product, so I would think it's the same here. Solid state electronics don't really "wear out" or anything. It's just there, being fed some signals, and sends modified signals out the other end.
If it does crap out on you, it's probably because of moisture or whatever. So don't play gigs in swamps :P

There is a sensor for each string in the bridge, then it does some crazy vodoo with the signal to simulate anything.
I guess it doesn't even have to be a guitar sound.

it already has pickups, those are piezo pickups, one per string, and they are hidden in the bridge. ;).

they're the same price the 700s only difference from the 600 is a carved top and inlays all the same guitar models and what not are in it
