I think Katniss sang this not only to show native songs from her district but to show the government that she's not just a tribute. I think thats why her mother didn't want her singing the song when her father taught it to her

I love the way you sang this. I prefer the other version, but only for a few reasons. But I think the main reason is that Katniss seemed extremely happy to be singing the song for Pollux and the mockingjay's. not the camera's. I think that if she was singing it for the camera's, she would've sang it like this.

That's just my opinion, but of course both versions are amazing :)

I did this slower version because when she sang it, she was sortof reflecting on her past and I imagined her being lost in that distant memory.  Plus it is a dark song and it was sung during a dark time. the faster version I did was made to reflect the fact that young children would sing it (kinda like ring around the rosie, a song about the plague).

"Ring a Ring o'Roses" isn't about the plague. Common misconception - but this theory was never mentioned until the 1950's (300 years after the Great Plague).

In the book, the song was sung by Katniss, without music, to Pollux. It was a song that she learned from her father and used to sing with her sister when she was a child. they would make "necklaces of rope" while they sang it and it bothered her mother. I think what heyabbygirl meant by it not being "modern" is that it wasn't like a pop song, but more like a folk song. You have to consider that, even though the book takes place in the future, life has reverted back to a much simpler time.

I listened to many versions. And so far, this is the only version I can actually see Katniss singing because she had NO background music whatsoever, it wasn't modern (I don't believe), and she probably had a really simple voice. So good job and I hope the song in the movie is similar to yours :)
