I used to compete on the same team as Kayla and she's always been a hard worker. Taking the corrections that our coach gave her and putting them into effect. I'm so Proud to see her go to Worlds and continue on with her dream. She was so little when she started and now she's grown into an amazing flawless gymnast... Were all proud back here in W.V. keep it up and bring us a Gold.

Why is she world champion.... I mean Alicia Sacramone, who was clearly wayyyy better than her, busted her ass at every single worlds and never walked away with a gold medal. This washed down level 10 comes up and lucks out that year cause there was clearly no decent vaulter. Put Alicia Sacramone in here, she'll chew her up and spit her out. Don't even get me started with Cheng Fei. Cause she would just bitch slap Kayla in vault!!!!

@masterpeter1234 yeah theres a reason why alicia sacramone didnt win any gold medals. she wasnt consistent and couldnt deliver under pressure as she so clearly demonstrated at the 2008 olympics and the trials for the 2004 olympics...thus being named an ALTERNATE. and an alternate is where she should've stayed. afraid of bars...god what a joke.

I can see why her execution score on the first vault was so low but the second one? Best DTY of the competition by about .5, and the scores don't reflect that at all. I'd have given that a 9.6 execution. Crossed legs, slight pike down, and could have been higher.

for some reason the new COP likes to take off points for being perfect now. its almost impossible to get an execution score above an 8.8 now... hopefully with every gymnastics fan protesting the new scoring system, they will revert back to the 08 scoring system by 2012 :)

It's so funny how Kayla won with Alicia's vaults. Alicia never won a world or olympic title, she always got 2nd or lower, but now that she leaves, her vaults are used by Kayla to win. It's kind of unfortunate that Alicia didn't stick around until these worlds just on vault. She could have kicked butt!

I know that. Hong Un Jong had the most difficult vaults (6.5) and fell on both of them. Alicia never had a good chance with both vaults with lower start values. If Jong and Cheng Fei fell twice, along with Chusovitina, she would have won gold in Beijing. I simply stated that it's weird how Alicia could have won with vaults this year, assuming she didn't fall, that never really stood a chance before against more difficult ones.

Perhaps it's because it's a new quadrennium. Everyone old is out of practice after a long post-Olympics break and the new ladies are doing well. You have to hand it to Kayla though. They were kick-butt vaults. Good for her.

I don't know why everyone is saying giving her corrections and pointing out all the bad things. Every vault is going to have some problems but I am so happy for her. She was only a level ten a couple months ago. Winning at nationals and winning at world (on vault) is quite an improvement i think. She is definitely a great vaulter. Good job girl!

per the FIG rules, you have to be within 130 -180 degrees to get credit for layout, and it seems that all the judges (which i assume you're not) agreed that she was within the exceptable range for a layout position

Not bad for a level 10 only 3 month ago. I'm glad the best Vaulter won. She did pike down at the end .3 or .5 tenth off .Vault scoring is so messed up anyway look for changes soon.
