I think you've put the finger on the purpose of religions. Wanting mankind to be something else than it is, an evolved animal. What strikes me about this whole side-hug thing is that if you hug a person side on, your genitals are just as likely to rub them as if you hug them front on. Only with the side hug it's only YOU who may get aroused by it, and not the other person, so how is that a solution? Besides, Isn't the great thing about a hug the reciprocity of it? Side hugging is only one person hugging at a time. Seems stupid to me. Might as well not bother.
