  • He makes it look SO EASY, just throwing out all the high notes, C's and B's. What a talent he was, and I'm so sad that no one nowadays don't even come close to Pavarotti in his prime days.

  • He'd be in my top 100 list of ppl I'd like to meet along with Jesus, Louis Armstrong, marlon Brando, newton, et al.

  • Oh my god.

    My heart is smiling.

  • Is this a french version?

  • @floopy312 No, I believe Italian and Latin. Still the one I consider pure heavenly perfection! No one covers Ave Maria like Pavarotti did! No microphone, no audial assistance, just him and a God sent voice that we will never hear from anyone again.

  • @floopy312 No it's Italian. You can Google "ave maria schubert lyrics pavarotti italian" and you'll find them.

  • Who, who would dislike this? 20? Really? What do you consider pure heaven then, if not this? I love this song, but this, oh this is purely from God. God had to have gotten chills hearing this! Why he had to take Pava home early!

  • Teared up on his first note.

  • Luciano n'est pas mort, il vit dans nos coeur

Luciano non è morto, vive nel nostro cuore

Luciano is not dead, he lives in our heart

  • He was astounding..the Eighth Wonder of the World. Turn off the lights and turn up the volume

  • One of the marvelous highlights in this great, very great Christmas presentation from Notre Dame. This setting of the Ave Maria, as presented here, is actually more moving than Schubert's original (poor guy; he never imagined how his piece could be enhanced into something that just captures the soul. And in this very lush setting, the D Flat Major key in this presentation just works perfectly, causing one to forget the original completely, And that is certainly not at all regrettable.

  • gratia omnium deum for that perfect voice. If the sound were electronically cleaned , this would be even more beautiful. ah, if we'd only had the equipment to record of anno dominum in the 60's and 70's

like a light in the darkness.....Thank you and Merry Christmas.

  • in still memories..thank you

  • We miss you at Christmas.

  • tolle sache

  • Breathtaking.

  • Its not Christmas til we get the Pav Christmas records out

  • I defy anyone to sing this version any better!

  • @tscspagnolo no one can

  • Hi I grow up on the street with no education I'm as ruff as they get but every time I listen to luciano Pavarotti sing it near rips my hart soul out listening to every sound

  • Timeless...He who owned every note! Thank you Luciano

  • i get the shivers every time i hear this....<3

  • This is absolutely mesmerizing. Just perfect. It's a privilege just to hear it.

  • Pavarotti is one of the great ones. Now ppl air bocelli who is whale en half as good as Pavarotti.

  • Heavenly. He was a gift sent by God to give us a glimpse of Heaven's perfection.

  • I just can't get enough of this... Great song and even better when performed by him.

  • This video brings me to tears every time I see it. While the sound quality is less than spectacular, the emotion of this performance is amazing. I do believe Pavarotti got a bit teary once the chorus started singing. Had I been in the Cathedral during this performance I would have cried like a baby.

  • Absolute perfection! A glorious singing lesson for the 'tenors'? that we have to listen to today. Bravo!!!!

  • creeps

  • I still miss Pavarotti...<3<3

  • Pavarottis in his high prime - at his best ever.... Best performance ever!!

  • This is quite possibly the most superior and perfect vocal performance I've ever heard.

  • Perfect.

  • WHY IS THERE EVEN A DISLIKE BUTTON?? If you don't like something, don't search it let alone WATCH it! Food For Thought.

On another note: simply a beautiful performance. Truly, one of the greats.

  • Amazing!

  • I love Luciano and miss him so much...

  • And to think that on arrival at the gates of Heaven The Virgin Mary was waiting at the gates to greet him and thank him personally for this magnificent tribute to her.

  • Alguien sabe como se hace para dejar de ver este video? No logro dejar de poner "Volver a ver" una y otra vez...

  • This should have 100 million views. Pavarotti was in his prime. Thank you for such a wonderful masterpiece.

  • in Italiano non in Latino!!!!

  • I could listen to him sing this for eternity and still feel the power of God coming from him. He always brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Whatever sadness this big Pavarotti disappears too much early.... You make it for us relive! Thank you for this present ......

  • Thank God we had Pavarotti in our life . . . miss his so

  • CAN'T GET ENUFF OF THIS....HAD IT ON BLAST!!!!!

  • Oh Jeez. My speakers just blew up again. Was well worth it though!

  • see the emotion in his face when he ends the song, not only was he the best, but his emotions singled him out as greatness personified... Gracias

  • lindíssima! a mais bela versão da Ave Maria que já tive o prazer de ver. Pavarotti é divino!

  • bliking u tube is yet again sh... it keeps glitching all the bluddy time whats the point in having it if they cant run it with out all these darned gliches, sort it out i was enyoing this song and half way threw it keeps glitching. love your voice pavaratti rip

  • Voz imortal

  • Starting at the 2:00 mark, totally gave me the chills.

  • Absolutely Epic.....you are immortal in our hearts Mr. Pavarotti....thank you for blessing us with your greatness.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • No hay palabras...

  • thank you Lord for this mans blessings on all of us. How glorious.

  • Seems like 20 people have listened to Trololo way too many times....

Big Luciano achieved Immortality through his awesome voice!!!^_^

  • At least 20 people in this world don't have souls. This is absolutely beyond description in any language.

  • Four years since you left us Grande tenoro but your "work" will be always here, Memory Eternal. R.I.P.

  • Schubert + Pavarotti + YouTube = pure delight.

Imagine how fortunate we are in these years to hear this kind of music for free from home. People would have paid fortunes not so long ago to get just a glimpse of this. Now we just wait and click "like" or "dislike", as if we were worthy of judging a piece like this...

  • @trudbol

"As if we were worthy of judging a piece like this"... You're absolutely right. And a singer like this, I'd add. In the 70s Pavarotti's God sent voice was matchless.

  • @trudbol That is a damn fine point.

  • @trudbol as if we were worthy....made me laugh. of course we're not. I figure Heaven lent him to us and now he's leading the angels in hymn sings at God's whim. what a voice. if this vid doesn't give chills/make ya misty...well you're probably dead already.

  • @trudbol I rarely agree 100% with any statement, but I agree with this one.

  • @trudbol I think you are absolutely right! Even more - you have expressed my thoughts and feelings in a very precise way...I am glad there is a person somewhere in this immense world who shares my thoughts and feelings.

  • Minden évszázadban egy ilyen hang van a világon..

Sajnos korán elment .. mennyi szépséget magával vitt, amit még sokáig

    adhatott volna a világnak ..

Nincs több ilyen hang -- a csodálatos kevés .. MENNYEI !!!

    Köszönet a feltöltőnek ..

  • Here he is performing at the highest level, yet, he did it better in the late 80s and early 90s. How good he was here, yet still got better, is a testament to his greatness.

  • How do you hate such beauty?

  • prachtig prachtig hij was nog zo jong

  • Juan Diego Flores me encanta, pero Pavarotti no sólo me encanta sino me fascina!

  • 20 idiotas ouvem restart.

  • i think his voice got richer with age if that is possible.

  • Brilliant .. just briliant

  • Truly, one of the brightest lights of the music world was extinguished when Pavarotti passed beyond the veil. I can only think that God needed a soloist for His choir when He took him.

  • Unfortunately such a person has gone so quickly from life

  • Speechless,,,,absolutely speechless. (for lack of better words)

  • This rendition literally brought a tear to my eye. Unbelievably beautiful singing.

  • my hairs stand up everytime I hear Luciano

  • FUCK HE SHOULD HAVE LIVE FOR EVER !

  • His voice was at its peak when the Maestro sang this. No tenor in the world could even come close..., not then, nor for many, many years thereafter. Even later in life, Pavarotti remained my favorite. Only when death silenced him did I look around for another to replace Pavarotti's great voice and presence, but alas, no one was there. Now the Maestro sings only unto God. And the angels weep with the joy that once wetted our tears as we listened.

  • 20 people are already dead.

  • lovely.... the whole concept is genuis

  • wow no mic

  • This song is amazing, I walked down the aisle to this song almost 2 years ago, be still my heart!

  • this song is like a coin; one side is happiness or it could be sadness.

  • He is Simply perfect...

  • Fantástico. Impressionante. magnifique! Incroyable! Unbelievable!!

Lamento nunca tê-lo visto ao vivo.

  • Very good you video!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Big Luciano, great tenor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See also, the tenor Felipe Peletta singing this song and many others!

  • Thank God that in Pavarotti's lifetime there was video tape.

  • @streetwhereulive and more importantly, CDs!

  • amazing, best rendition of ave maria ever

  • Hitman does not deserve a song of this majesty as its theme song. Every time I here this song I want to make love to an angel and get a bar code tattooed on my head.

  • The purest form of Bel Canto!

  • This man mustve had massive lungs

  • @49fiori The true majesty of God lays not in him keeping people like Einstein and Pavarotti around forever, but by him giving humanity these gifted people so that we may know what true genius is and treasure it while it exists.

  • @xshooterphi you think Albert Einstein wasn't atheist?

  • @xshooterphi Well said, well said.

  • @xshooterphi

    Perfectly said. Thanks!!

  • BRAVISIMO!

  • @McTitties1000 BraviSSimo

  • What are the latin lyrics to this? not the original ones, just the one's he's singing.

  • @azh2929 He's singing the italian version. An old fashioned italian ... .

  • @scapeloza

    this song is in LATIN

  • @Phidelio2 Actually, the first verse is in Italian, and the second is an excerpt of the Hail Mary in Latin.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... He is singing also the LATIN version

  • @Phidelio2 whatever version he sings is amazingly beautiful. there will be no other like him.

  • Justin Bieber and Paris Hilton

    Pavarotti and Einstein

There cannot be such thing as God or if there is, he's a comedian...

  • @49fiori so true

  • My god this is just such an unbelievably amazingly beautiful song Pavarotti's voice just makes it so beautiful. You can almost hear the pain the song describes in his voice.

  • Maybe its because I'm younger (23), but I never thought Pavarotti was as great as everyone says because I've only heard him sing as an old man. After stumbling on his work from the 70s (especially La Fille du Regiment) and hearing him in his prime I now understand why he is the Maestro. Just fucking perfect. What a boss.

  • @fraser311 Absolutely. Listen to some Lucia with Joan Sutherland from the 70's. Just phenomenal, and he really was still very good well into the late 80's/early 90's. The voice just changed (as they do!) a little.....

  • Cette chanson que j' adore pour toi mon petit Prince.

  • fantastico maestro....

    bellissima!!!!!!!!

  • when i die i really hope i go to heaven so i can hear pavarotti live everyday live for eternity

  • Pavarotti no ápice da forma, em uma das mais brilhantes e encantadoras interpretações da Ave Maria de Schubert.

  • i'm gonna hit those 20 people with a metal bat until it bends.

  • i like metal old school rap and this :)

  • The first time I heard Luciano sing Ave Maria I literally thought that the space about me would open up & I would be transported into the highest part of heaven, for only heaven could contain the uncontrollable surge of emotions swelling up in me as I found my release coming in a torrent of tears for the honor, love, & respect Pavarotti’s rendition gave to the BVM.

  • @alexmusic13

    Sono d'accordo

  • @alexmusic13

    Sono d'accordo

  • One of the amazing voices of the world ! will be remember ferever...

  • Hitman flashed in my mind a while ago. That movie was sick, this song sicker.

  • This particular video has sparked something for me....

  • He takes us to a better place...

  • Pavarottio had the loveliest tone when he sang. Much much better than so many others. Loved his voice to bits.

  • Even when this man sang alone he always had a choir of angles with him.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod Fail troll is fail.

  • I am offended that you would allow the fifth posting to remain on your site. it is totally disgusting and such an insult to Mr. Pavarotti and to all your viewers. You should not have shown this. Most other sites would

    not have done so.

  • I am offended that you would allow the third posting to remain on your site. it is totally disgusting and such an insult to Mr. Pavarotti and to all your viewers. You should not have shown this. Most other sites would

  • Pavarotti was in perfect voice this day

  • que mulher maravilhosa é essa meu Deus!

  • I am a fan of Pavarotti and love voice of tenors in general

My father use to sing also tenor songs and I have all the recordings home.

So bad that I never see Pavarotti live on stage. He was just amazing.

  • magistrale en niet te evenaren uitvoering door Pavarotti.

  • this gives me goosebumps every time I hear it

  • meu Deus...

  • Though I'm Pagan and Wiccan, this worshipful offering stops me in my tracks, elicits tears of joy and makes my heart sing!

    Luciano gracias por todo.

  • Pavarotti był i jest wielki.

  • This is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. I don't normally consider myself to be an emotional guy but this sent shivers down my spine and my eyes welled up with tears.

  • GRANDE PAVAROTTI 6 UNICO !

  • pavarotti que espectaculo escucharlo ... un encanto a los oidos de los buenos gustos de la musica

  • 'Needful Things'

  • Forgive me. I did not include

    Joan Sutherland

  • My Mom was an Opera fanatic. I grew up listening to Caruso, Domingo, Leontyne Price, Maria Callas. This version, of this song, is the only one that ever made her stop everything she was doing, and close her eyes, and cry. I am a 58 year old man, and it has the same impact on me. I don't think that He's singing this to God. I think that when God sings, this is the sound that is heard.

  • so fucking beautiful.

  • THERE'S NOTHING THAT COULD EVEN GET CLOSE TO THIS... THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I'VE HEARD...

  • This is spellbound!!!

  • si Schubert y Pavarotti hubiesen vivido en la misma epoca, se hubiesen dado cuenta que gracias a uno por componerla y al otro por cantarla, la musica puede llegar a este nivel indescriptible de belleza absoluta.
