(P2) From C Forbes of Leeds to the Afro Muslim woman, furthermore to not liking dance music, I don't listen to a word they sing, and if it makes you feel better I don't listen to rap or reggae, to be sure I only listen to metal, so when you see me laying on my deck chair reading a sword and sorcery but, do not disturb or upset the balance be I have no interest in your bollocksy music, Metal Kicks ass
Though Anata definitely has their own unique sound. I wouldn't be surprised if they were partially influenced by Quebec-native, Prog-Thrash innovators Voivod. Their unique use of dissonance for sake of contrapuntal, and a confusing sound, hearkens WAY BACK to when Piggy and Blacky did that, except in a more Fusion, Futuristic Industrial musical context of Thrash. Anata on the other hand makes this characteristic even more brutal, and harsh with the incorporation of dirty Death Metal with melody.
@Shockheadd45 "dirty Death Metal"? Please elaborate. Also, this has more influence from Cynic and Death, with the use of frequent and complex tapping, and cryptopsy-like stop-start rhythm.
Actually Morbid Angel is their most strong influence in the death metal genre, Fredrik has stated this numerous times. Voivod is also another strong possible influence... remember, Anata started in 1993, before Cryptopsy had done anything.
@Cinerary I'm not saying they were influenced by Cryptopsy, only that the way they play is sometimes analogous to old cryptopsy. I did not know of the morbid angel, I will admit.

Technical Death Metal rules, Anata plays technical Death Metal, ergo Anata rules. Quite obvious

They are so diferent to any other DM band out there, they have weird notes and chordes, brilliant stuff

You have to have really developed tastes and an open mind to enjoy Anata's work. But if you have it, you're golden. They're truely gifted musicians.
wiouxev 5 years ago
they definitely are, but i find the conductors depature, the guitar in some parts is rather annoying in sound
under a stone is a masterpiece

I would agree with that - conductors departure makes up in drum work in my opinion
