So much for having a global sense of humor. To say the Irish never wore kilts is to deny the fact that, although it was not the fashion, a kilt-like garment , as well as a kilt fashioned after the Scottish garment, had been worn (occasionally) in the late 1800s.

And, granted, what many consider to be an historical Irish garb, is nothing more than a ploy to make a few extra pounds from unsuspecting Yanks.
