  • where can I download this song ?.. i need this song :(

  • @luuusssia at itunes

  • quisiera ver algo asi =)

  • OMG, this one is explosive...

IMO if Famine was performed 20 years ago, IRA would get much more new recruits. (dire black humour)

  • when i saw this i got chills and burst into tears .

i was at the front and was hypnotized by this

this show will stick in my mind always /

    xxx

  • I cried too, its very emotional part of the whole show...

  • There's soemthing quite morbid about this. It's like having 'Holocaust: the musical'

  • People, let's stick just to the performance itself! I'm sick of history arguing, it's pointless because reality itself depends of each own personal opinions! I won't accept comments regarding such stuff, sorry.

  • you are absolutely right

  • I love this piece. So raw and pure, so much emotions. The dancers of Celtic Tiger are so much more allround and profesional than those in other shows. That said, I hated the second part of the show.

  • The music is good, but the coreography is... wierd... (I don't want to be rude with the coreographer)

  • I just want to explain this a bit and why the choreography is so weird... XD

This was about how during the potato-virus thing in Ireland, how the British went to Ireland and burned houses and things like that. The choreography is showing us that lots of the Irish died from the burning--all the girls trying to help each other up, the men carrying out the women who were unconscious, things like that--and how the British killed some of the priests trying to pray for them.

  • the burning isnt meant to be literal. he just wants to put across the suffering during the famine. During the famine Ireland actually had enough crops, but they were shipped away to Britain for landowners there, hence the metaphorical burning of their houses(their lives or livelihood).

  • Irish Dancing is My Passion without micheal flatlety and his dancers i would never have thought to take it up <333

  • I know!!

My mom found a studio with 2 Irish dance teachers and they have a traveling dance troupe that goes to different Irish dance competitions and competes, and my mom is going to call them after the weekend is over.

I wouldn't have even thought about begging my mom to find a place close to us where I could learn Irish dance if I hadn't found Riverdance, and watching all those dancers on there made the Irish in me (I'm half Irish) go like "OMG! ME WANTS TO LEARN!!!"

    xD

  • My dance teacher is the guy at 48.

  • The guy at 1:23, something about him makes him seem the embodiment of the plague. Just his face and expression, it moves my heart every time...

  • makes me cry .... every time too.... :(

  • I have only just found these Celtic Tiger clips. I only wish the show could come to New Zealand. Amazing. This one brings tears to my eyes. Thank you Michael.

  • pointless garbage meant for a tachy American audience

  • So Sabian? Do you just got to every Celtic Tiger video and bash it?

  • Right, so Flatley decided not to put ANY Irish dancing in this "Celtic" tiger show?

  • Why are people putting down this comment?!! There IS no Irish dancing in it! If you grew up in Ireland they made you learn Irish dancing in school. Flatley modified it and now in this scene there's none at all. That's not a negative comment, it's just a comment.

  • That's not a negative comment..He's just stating a fact here. If you know Irish dancing you know what it looks like and this, whatever it is, is NOT Irish dancing. Fact.

  • In every show, you can't just put in one thing. Notice how in Riverdance, not only do they have Irish tapdancing but they also have a bit of singing, lyrical, and jazz? In Celtic Tiger they don't just have Irish tapdancing but lyrical and ballet, and it was awhile ago when I saw it so I can't remember if they had singing in it or not.

This is just one of the acts that wasn't Irish tapdancing.

  • @fecker555 i know irish dancing , i have don it all my life and have just finished my last show. This IS irish dancing, this particular dance is more acting to show the hitory but the show IS irish dancing . so dont say if u arent doing irish dancing u wont noe, because u r tlking crap!

  • so amazing and beautiful....sad too

  • so incredibly sad, yet amazing and beautiful. The music is amazing

  • absoluty amazing well, probably coz i'm irish!!

  • Makes me cry every time!

  • ok, did anyone else find this dance extremely depressing??

  • @kemedf95 it is supposed to be

  • i danced to this in my recital. =]

  • Telling our island's history using step dance and theatre is trash? People's strange

  • I don't think it's the history through dance that is a problem so much as the commercialization of fairly serious subjects.

  • I don't think that is a problem, as long as things are well made and well concepted. And that's the case, in my opinion of course.

  • totally agree with you. the whole conception of irish history through irish dance is fine. it's flatley's EXECUTION that is a complete catastophe

  • I agree, Celtic Tiger was just horrible in so many ways. The original Lord of the Dance was the best.

  • celtic tiger failed so hard... I love Irish step dance and I'm a step dancer myself, but this seriously failed. Go look up Riverdance 1994 dublin for the real art.

  • Telling our island's history using step dance and theatre is trash? Are ya insane? It's pure genius...it's the second best idea after Pink Floyd's The Wall, Roger Waters' biography told in an album...

  • I feel genuinely threatened and disgusted. This is like a sketch from Brass Eye (look i up and you'll know what I mean).

  • i normally love this stuff, but this whole show is so utterly cheesy, beyond acceptable bounds of cheese.

  • "Other people have a nationality. The Irish and the Jews have a psychosis." --Brendan Behan ____ And he wasn't even English! :D

  • And that is why they survived. The U.S. could use some of that "psychosis".

  • this is a gr8 way 2 show how brutally we wer treated by the british!!

    luv it!!

  • i love it ! and i love OUR piper :D *lol* he is amazing!

  • okk. i dont like it one bit,

    british bashing,

    too much acting

    not enough IRISH DANCINGG.

  • It is not British Bashing, just the truth.

  • Right on!

  • Irish dancing?

  • Of course not. It's a mix of dances, just like many of the numbers of the show, like The Garden of Eden or Celtic Kittens =)

  • the irish have a right to speak of their history as any other race does. Its not our fault that the British come our looking very bad, they do because they were.

  • Amen, and I am a Viking.

  • Oh ya.

  • i think it came after the redcoat i like irish dance

  • this after redcoat what before redcoat???????

  • Agreed. He should have played a priest in EVERY number...centurion priest, capone priest, pilot priest, yankee doodle dandy priest. That would have made a great show! :-P

  • more British bashing...

  • More whining.

  • this could be a really moving piece, if the expressions could be a LITTLE more credible. Ironic Flatley's the priest and THEN he's the hot shot pilot hitting on the flight attendant by day, stripper by night.

  • djeez, goosebumps every time is see this vid. Thank you so much for uploading
