  • her banjo is freakin' awesome

  • beauty. listen to anything she sings in Mandarin. It will make everything beautiful.

  • is it wrong that i associate bluegrass music with xenophobia? thats why it is shocking to me that she is so into china

  • @raushkanaush I believe it is, it's no different than any other sterotype that people put on other races ect..

  • @raushkanaush It's wrong in that it is an incorrect association.

  • Wow. That was a singularity,

  • Heard one song & subsequently bought all her records. Good decision as this woman is truly wonderful.

  • So awesome! Just watching her between songs makes you feel like you know her. Her music is a whole new animal.

  • how many minutes could you stand to listen to her?-2 minutes tops--is she full of herself or what

  • @iceaxe56 9:25 tops everything...

  • what are the notes in the tuning she uses here? i can't find it online

  • Yet another mix of talent and novel musical style. Before I began watching NPR's tiny desk concerts I was really ready to give up on the modern music industry for filtering out any good musicians and pushing cut and packaged pop for tween girls and filthy rap 'music'. Although far from mainstream, since watching these tiny desk concerts I have found a diverse mix of artists still experimenting and finding completely new sounds in what seemed like a throughly exhausted music industry.

  • i love her

  • Crazy how this sounds exactly like her recording. It's good to know that her music isn't heavily over produced.

  • Wow- This is great

  • Where is the Ultra-Like button? I'll press it a gazillion times!

  • I can only hit the like button once! I want to hit it with each song!! <3

  • She is a perky and fantastic.

  • Fuck she talk to much

Good singing voice though, still she should just play and NOT talk.

  • That first song: Bluegrass style lyrics and instruments....mixed with that weird and generic traditional Asian sound.... I didn't expect it to be this good. I still prefer American Bluegrass, but this was an interesting mix.

  • i fucking love tiny desk

  • so so so so so damn good

  • that was just great!

  • very nice

  • Thanks NPR for this great Tiny Desk show. The story of how Abigal Washburn was told she was not teaching folk music right reminded me of my own experience teaching in China. Ahh...good times.

  • this is great :)
