Seems to me the Police are causing all the problems, if they would just leave, I am sure nothing would be happening, we need to remind them this is America people and we pay their fucking salaries. "We The People" are their boss. The President, Congress, Senate and Justice Department needs to know the same thing.
it is against the law to be within a certain distance of a cop detaining someone.. the cops have every right to move the people from within that zone.. obviously in a general peaceful manner but if the person refuses to leave and continues to disobey they have every right to help them move away..
Photographer Robert Stolarik from The New York Times (2:05) should write an article about the incident. I think, in this country we have "Freedom of the press".
@Daphotocoach i guess i didn't finish but both of them were being immature dicks, but mostly the photog. And how am i an ass if i'm just stating what i think. They told him to back up and he kept acting like a little bitch and saying "dont touch me again." You don't hear the protestors acting like that, they don't think they're above the law. This photog thought because he has a press pass he could do whatever and whenever.
@YungB0211 - Shows what you know about photography and what you witnessed (Your interpitation of this video) They were BLOCKING his ability. The police should have allowed him to "get his shots" - He had no need to get close with a lens like the one he had in his camera.
Problem is, cameras have not yet gained the ability to shoot through police cover ups. No doubt we are going to end up agreeing to disagree here.. The police were clear on their motive. To not allow coverage, period.
@Daphotocoach did any other photographer have problems with police...no! Lets just agree to disagree...this does not in any way diminish what I or what you know about photography. I think that the photographer didn't have to act like that in the beginning, i also said that the cop acted immature as well. Just no other photographer had problems and that shows something. Are you that photographer? because your calling me an ass like your him. And if thats you then you have a pretty good job.
@YungB0211 - Who made you the end all know all on the subject of who's being an goof, or how people should "act" when someone stops them from doing THEIR JOB! I'm like him, because I'm American and in America we have something called "Freedom of the press" - That police officer could hold him back "Maybe" but to block his shots was wrong. (At least you think the cop acted immature) When police try to block someone from taking photographs, I get a little worried. What is it, they are hiding?
@Daphotocoach It was my opinion that they acted like dicks in their own way. My opinion is my opinion, and your opinion is yours. There not facts just opinions. And again EVERY other photographer wasn't having a problem. It was an individual circumstance between two people. I would have been on your conspiracy side if the police were shutting all the photographers down or at least more than one photographer that was having a tantrum with the immature cops around him.
@YungB0211 - I have the law behind me. U keep your opinions, it's still a free country. They had no right to stop ANY photo journalist from doing their job. Tell us what you do.. so we can come stop you from making a living and see how you like it. It was not a tantrum, the man had every reason (On many levels) to be pissed.
@Daphotocoach okay. lets just agree to disagree. Im a college student that does street photog and freelance work in concert photography. So i understand photography. Just if someone like a security guard told me to leave if I was trying to go somewhere that wasn't designated for me during a shoot then I would leave because he has the right to kick me out.
Research this; on private property where people were allowed to walk through regularly, the owner cannot stop people from crossing on a whim. By this time, it has legally become recognized as a public walkway (legality varies from city to city). Now, these protestors are inside a building that is NOT a public place and ARE subject to arrest. Thank you.
Congress has an approval rating of 9% you really think Occupy is alone and a tiny minority in calling into question the way the country is run? i mean if only 9% of the country likes what is happening how are they even in power? they have all been bought and if you don't stand up for what's wrong so have you!
@DeepSouth16 Yeah it's not like I used the fucking internet to read multiple news stories that all had the same data. You're the one buying the bullshit, looks like your in the Marine Corps. Do a google search for "veteran unemployment," I work in a law firm that sues the VA to get benefits to people like you (well, better than you). You'll figure it out soon, you sound like your on your way to bankruptcy shortly, if you haven't already declared.
Love Occupy. @Nassault630, thank you my friend. It amazes me how people are so blind. I've been "Occupying" since the '50s. No one cares what this government has and is doing. EVERYTHING is a lie. Why can't people wake up? Have the chemtrails completely clogged your thought processes? They need to look again at a video of the 9/11 "attack" to see just what is possible in this country. Buildings don't just freefall without pre-planted explosives. And that's just one example.
'm all for the protests but they should be peaceful. I've heard that retreat is more powerful than attack in some instances especially if your opponent needs to be careful about who is making the first step. If police ask you to leave, do so BUT come back to the same spot later or hit up another venue. The occupy in portland figured this out and have been successful.
Look guys you can do the "get a job" thing as much as you like (i have a job so does not bother me in the slightest we might listen to you if you can form an argument rather than act like uneducated children but do you think it is fair in a capitalist society that if a bank runs their business so band they become bankrupt instead of being bought out by a successful business it is the job of those who are not paid half as well as the bankers to give them the money to make more mistakes?
@OriginalCliche1 - I have a job too, many actually. They finally added the straw that is breaking the camels back. Good for them! America needs a major turn around and it's no doubt coming. @saerit9 I've never said this, about any sentence I've ever read on the internet, but shortly after reading your comment, I said, "That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
Its amazing how the government sponsored terrorism don't ever blow a Hugh bomb in the middle of all those pigs. Shit i forgot Obasterd don't eat pork and y waste it on the street huh???
@TheLeftyGrove Here is a Herman Cain acronym for stereotype Liberals (S.I.N.): "Shifting the blame" - you said Republicans;"Ignoring the facts" - it was factually democrats; "Name calling" - me an idiot.
I argue that party does not matter, but as a matter of fact Democrats are responsible for allowing this behavior from the police (and many of the police are democrats themselves). They are the same to me, but my argument is in response to your dualist statement.
@TheLeftyGrove I dont base my credibility on a Cain quotation, merely letting you know that you fit in with his analysis quite well. I never said he was or was not a conservative, I said he was a democrat. Stop trying. The cops are and serve democrats, both parties are corrupt, you fit Cain's acronym. enough is enough.
@DeepSouth16 That is one of the reasons they are protesting you fucking moron. There are no jobs. the other reason is that the government promised Americans that if wall street got a bailout the unemployment rate would stay the same. What a joke
@DeepSouth16 Only a fucking moron would tell someone to "get a job" when there are 14.5 million unemployed (by Obamas lying stats) and only 2.5 million jobs open. Read a newspaper you fucking moron.
@DeepSouth16 lol you obviously have just been watching tv you moron. OWS is pretty crystal fucking clear in their message and you'd have to be a total braindead moron not to know what it's about.
@tensachan Why? Because he actually has the balls to call the police officer out on his blatantly illegal behavior? Because he's actually standing up for his constitutional rights instead of being bullied like a little bitch?
@DeepSouth16 "GET A FUCKING JOB" What a deep, thoughtful response from someone with the username "DeepSouth." Would you like to know why most protestors who up on the weekends? BECAUSE THEY HAVE FUCKING JOBS, you stupid ignorant piece of trash. Go back to your hole, watch more NASCAR, and please DO NOT PARTICIPATE. We don't need you.
@DeepSouth16 You think that the protesters are "disrupting" this perticular business? This video doesn't show them occupying Mom and Pop's flower shop, it's the fucking WFC you dumb cunt. They've "Dsirupted" millions of people, fucked everyone over for years, ruining families, and you think this protest is "disruptive"? Go choke on a 9mm and pull the fucking trigger.
The one thing I love about Ameica is its hypocrisy. Just the other day, ol' Hilary was talking about not doing businesses with tyrants and countries that limite internet and media freedom. How they should protect the right of protests and how individuals should be treated humanely if they are protesting. God Bless your hypocrisy, America.
I am totally for these guys but I kind of get annoyed when they just yell "shame" when someone is getting arrested. I feel like they should do more then just stand there for some reason. (Of course if the person is getting arrested for no reason) But It's the beginning of something nonetheless.
Thank you mr photographer for showing things the way they are. Bloomcorrupts personal army behaving like the Fascists they are -knowing they are on film. Imagine how they treat the Occupiers when not on tape? I hope that FAT COP chokes on a hotdog.
New York Times protest Fuck! You have a clear case of common law assault and battery. I am going to have to switch to civil rights law, it is a booming industry with the new police state.
It sure looks like there are a whole lot more cops than OWS folks there. Think some of those cops are going to be taking in well over $200,000 this year?
@missdoe2u i thought the same thing when anynomous and all that first became popular, i think they are going to find and arrest every person who put their name on that list due to the way things are going. this country is shot now, theres more police then there are protesters
THIS IS WHY EVERYTIME A COP( MERCENARY) GETS KILLED I LAUGH MY ASS OFF.AND BELIEVE ME IF ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE AROUND WERE PACKING THESE DISGUSTING PIGS WOULD NOT DARE PULL THIS SHIT.
I love all this talk of freedom, but what about the rights of everyone else? What about the rights of those who do not agree with your cause? What about the rights of people who wish to conduct commerce and use public space without interference? What about the rights of the people to hire officers of the law to maintain peace an order? We live in a society and your rights to protest do not supersede everyone else's rights to continue their lives as they see fit.

You stupid fucking cops realize what you're protecting don't you? Have some balls like the guys in Albany and stop taking these bullshit orders. I hope the photographer get's that idiot who was blocking his shots in trouble. READ THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION YOU FASCISTS
When the Popo ask you to move when you're on private property... you move, done. It's not really difficult. That photographer was purposely using veiled threats towards the officers, it's amazing that they showed so much restraint.
@randallvorisek it does not matter what he acted like all members of the press have the right to FREEDOM of the press under the first amendment of the United States Constitution and if you're an American i don't care what you believe and if you hate the New York Times you better believe in that freedom and not argue to protect the idiots trying to take away our rights as citizens.
The quasi military arms of monied murdering freaks. What stupid violent NYPD. As a native New Yorker it is hard to see this Bloomberg luxury boat fascist colony of overpaid pigs who wear the NYPD uniform.
@EquaLRiiZeN You only attack my character because you do not have a strong argument. But, I have never tackled, sat on, handcuffed, abducted, and detained anyone when they had not broken the law.
Where were these mindless robots when the Progressive Senate passed a law two weeks ago authorizing the police state and when Obama signed the executive order in January 2010 putting these actions into play\?
@bydesign001 Speaking of mindless robots, you actually think that the two parties have completely separate agendas? LOL!!!! Divide and conquer, dumb dumb.
The reporter should file a simple assualt claim because there were no exigent circumstances or reasonable cause for the officer to place his hands on him. The city will just write him a check to make it go away. Same thing with false arrests and false imprisonment, one might in return get a check with lot's of zeros on it. This is to avoid bad records of the offenses by the city/state/fed from being public record for eternity.
@paulrob55 Oh yeah theres a few people that can make a living off the settlements. Knew a guy that got 50,000.00 and didnt even step in court for false arrest.
Amazing how everyone complains about the police when it is these Marxist invaders who are disturbing honest hard-working trying to go to work and earn a living. Self zombies.
This is how they're treating all the protestors, and with as little reason. Now stupid enough to do this to the journalists. Not a smart move. There is NO reason a police officer, acting as he is supposed to, won't welcome having the press there, if only to avoid any undeserved abuse accusations.
To all the police who think they are somehow different from us and can violently abuse our rights as humans I say, watch out, because the world is going to change with or without you. Pick your side. If your not with us then your against us period. Continue your role as slaves while we fight for our freedom as human beings. We will win in the end.
@usaeagle1776 you do realize those leftist vermin are fighting for your goddamn rights don't you? While you sit back on your ignorant ass and turn on the people that are on your side.
@crayyawn not my rights or that of any American. That is why OWS has not caught fire with the 80% of Americans who not leftist. We dont associated with communists, David Duke, rapists, drugs, violence, diesase other filth that comes with the OWS. I dont want my country turned into a socialist shithole. No thanks.
@usaeagle1776 You need help. Badly. Damned ditto head piece of trash. I love how ignorant you rethuglicans are. Here's where you try to tell me you're independent.
@PardonOurDust1 : You really need help badly. Instead of having your leftist vermin head up your ass, live in the real world instead fantasy. And no, I am not independent. are you BOY? ignorant DEMOCUNTS.
@usaeagle1776 Wow, your ignorance is glaringly obvious. You don't even try to hide it, do you. One look at your uploads and we all know how much of a "winner" you are. Ignorant asshat.
@PardonOurDust1 :ignorance huh? oh. maybe if I put up the rapes, drug use, the diesases, public defacations, violence, clashes with police during the OWS...would that be better to your liking boy? fucking dumbass leftist dipshit.
@PardonOurDust1 ah yes, the truth that stings a libturd always. Bet that really pisses you off uh boy? Not in mommies basement and sucking her tit like you boy, and you are very predictable. pathetic.
@usaeagle1776 Wow, you are seriously trying to overcompensate for something. Calm down. Wouldn't want your mom to find you dead of a heart attack. She'll probably find you dead of autoerotic asphyxiation, but we all see that coming.
@PardonOurDust1 yeah, that "truth" sure is over compensating. Pathetic. Just like a brain dead kool aid drinking leftist, when faced with the truth, hurl the invectives. good little libturd...you do it well.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
--First Amendment to the United States Constitution
Tell me again where it says it's okay for the police to behave like Brownshirt Sturmabteilung Totalitarian assholes.
in response to reading through these comments, I have one thing to say: never mind the protesters. whether you are for, against or impartial to the situation, I find that the main focus of this video comes during the second half of the video. yes, the cops may have been "doing" their jobs, but seeing as they were preventing the press from doing their own jobs doesn't make the cops any better - or right in that matter.

This is how they're treating all the protestors, and with as little reason. Now stupid enough to do this to the journalists. Not a smart move. There is NO reason a police officer, acting as he is supposed to, won't welcome having the press there, if only to avoid any undeserved abuse accusations.
