  • Modest Mouse deserves so much more recognition

  • Favorite song

  • If I could send a message to extra terestrial life to prove we aren't all idiots, I would send this song.

  • Isaac Brock has been an inspiration to me for over 8 years now. These albums have become a part of my life that I will never forget. People don't realize that this isn't the kind of music you just listen to for fun. There is deep meaning behind these lyrics, offering insight into Isaac's own life and experiences. You listen to this music to learn about life, to learn about the person who wrote it, and to hopefully learn about yourself. I don't think I'd think quite the same had I not listened.

  • @DDball Hah that is exactly the way I feel about MM music. Well said man!

  • @DDball Hah that is exactly the way I feel about MM music. Well said man!

  • Sometimes I think he just means exactly what he writes and that were the ones who make it deep and/or complex. Either way this album is the deep, meditative, existential one and it is unique in this way. But I've always thought (may not be true) that Isaac only wrote a few songs on this one and that they took the lyrics from the writings of a friend or acquaintance that was or went insane? No?

  • @fuentcent Well, that I'm not sure about, but whether they are the words of Isaac, a friend, or both, they still seem to have a great overall meaning. I'll have to look into that tho :)

  • the end is just so damn beautiful

  • I would effin' bear Isaac Brock's children. And I'm a dude.

  • @GreyAlaska lol

  • Modest Mouse is probably the most talented band of this generation you just have to be musically and intellectually inclined to understand it. For people who say their music is a bunch of "noise"..try reproducing it yourself. The definition of an amazing band to me is the music + the lyrics...you can't have one without the other and define greatness. This shit is ineffable. Issac Brock is a lyrical genius. I can only hope that one day I write so well...And yes I know my sn is original..

  • @MrModestmousec hey did you know your sn is original ?

  • @hensly77 original and epic!

  • i hope they have a cd soon. been playing their old stuff for way to long

  • Calculus Man is better.

  • this album came from hanging out with Califone and Lsd plus he said he always wanted to make in album about space in article

  • @hensly77 You have any link of this interview?

  • I pooped my pants.

  • modest mouse makes me merry :)

  • Isaac Brock = intellectual dream boat

  • this band is just too good for dumb people to appreciate.

  • @mocachinomacdaddy Just because you enjoy a band that isn't that mainstream doesn't make you better than anyone else. Musical preference is subjective. Modest Mouse may be my favorite band of all time, but even a child could appreciate the music they put out. I'm sure you were pointing out his lyrical genius, which is unheard by many by the fact that they don't buy spots on the radio, therefore less mainstream. If you want to be taken seriously, you should consider acting more mature.

  • @codbloopz calm down, bro. im not looking "to be taken seriously" in a youtube comment. and idc what anyone says... if you cant appreciate this amazing music (not even talking about his lyrics, which are amazing) then u r dumb, musically. and if it makes u happy then i will attempt to "act more mature" in the other comments that i dont even remember posting.

  • @mocachinomacdaddy Like I said before, musical preference is subjective. Not everyone is going to enjoy the same music that you do, and it's difficult to appreciate music that you don't enjoy. That definately doesn't make them 'dumb'. If you live by such a self centered mindset, you're going to have a rough life

  • @codbloopz k, man, thanks for the life lesson.

  • why are these guys so unknown, first time i heard this and instanltly recognise it as a master piece composition, who are these guys and why does this only have a measly 29,000 hits? probably coz it has substance and most people dont

  • My favourite song by them, just beating King Rat.

  • Interesting piece of work I must say. Not the all around heard pop. Keeps my interest to check what else do they have

  • MM's songs about space are their better ones.

  • I love this song soooooooo much. Modest Mouse is as good as it gets plus more!

  • On the What Modest Mouse song are you? applaicaton on Facebook, this is what i got. It describes me well. I love this song as well even though this is the first time i have listened to it.

  • Its nice to see musicians expressing themselves. Fantastic song.

  • Ya' wanna be blessed and be cursed for sure.

  • I really do just love everything about this song. It's like a hand crafted masterpiece made just for you.

  • i think this song easily is my favorite song of all time, you won't find more profound music.

"God is a women, and the woman is, an animal that animals man, and that's you"...

    where do circles begin?

  • The Moon and Antartica is one of the best albums

  • the cool part is when 'Wild Pack of family dogs' comes on rightafter and wakes me up from a trance that i just got put under. i think its their best song by far

  • this would be twice as amazing if it faded into 'third planet' with the guitar <3 :D

ahhh modest mouse, you are my valentine. :) <3

  • the opening guitar is so mean, like actually angry sounding you can just hear it

  • I was always pretty sure 0:00 to 8:47 was amazing as a whole. The Moon & Antarctica is their best album

  • life in eight minutes and forty seven seconds.

  • actually 3:33 to 5:40 is the dope part imo......the lyrics are about as good as any lyrics in any song ever made, and i am not a modest mouse fan boy by any stretch

  • i was at that edgefield show at 3:07.....it was awesome!

  • So who's the handful of faggots that are "thumbs downing" everyone who doesn't say "omfg this is the best song EvER"?

  • I agree. Youtube Fascism runs rampant.

One of my replies to an Iron and Wine song was actually thumbs-downed so much that my post was no longer visible because I said that I didn't like the live version of the song as much as the studio version...

    Fascism much?

  • @ForgedAlliance well iron and wine is terrible and all fans are fucking tools

  • @thecaz16

    1. i think iron and wine is good, its just there kind of music isnt your favorite.

    2. just because you dont like their music dont take it out on the fans, i know some iron and wine fans and they arent tools.

  • @iPodAwesum key word "some" yeah and how many is that? and that is his opinion and you have yours.

  • @ForgedAlliance Learn what fascism is.

  • @ForgedAlliance I had a "Thats what she said" comment on a song, it was at like 158ups but then people kept downing it....

  • @HipHipForChe Hiiiii?

  • Hiiiii?

  • @ForgedAlliance Yea don't criticize the band. Like go on a Phish video, its funny.

  • indierocker1000, if you didnt mean 'shit' like in 'the shit', ACM1PT

  • know what's interesting, the moon actually kind of is a projector because it reflects the sunlight.

  • why would someone thumbs down this comment?

  • @captainmurphy52 the moon isn't a star

  • i didnt say it was, i said it's interesting because the moon is basically a projector.
