tarantulas, praying mantis, lizards, scorpions, pirahnas, food animals, honestly i want a big list over favorite insects, or other reptiles, i have just openned my eyes in this type of collectors world, and i feel like this is the key to happiness fuck television.
Her comment that Trantulas as pets are like Fish where you just enjoy them by looking at them and should not handle them much is absurd. Restpectfuly, that is BS. If you wont handle your tarantula more often, it will become very aggressive. It will try to attack anything that moves... try it with a pencil! It will attack it! and then there are more chances you to get bitten too!
2. heat rocks are renown for over heating...not needed
3. heat mats can only be used when placed on the side of the tank...may use on outside on one part if dont have room temp
all my T's are at room temp in my arachnid room an only heat is heated room with thermo to reg the temp an mist every other day for my tree spiders to get humidity high for them.
would recomend wood chip due to ulcers..i prefer coir, cocofibre works best
@zookeeper2345 Well Rose hairs are pretty much the easiest Tarantulas to take care of. Room temperature is just fine. Assuming you're not like me, and keep the house extremely cold all the time. Though normal 70 degrees is fine for them. And don't worry, they get their own heated room =) No mats or lamps though. No real T owner does any of the shit she recommends.
@MrSamuelPascal no worries mate. the best place to put them is at the back of your tank this way you still get a hot and cool end without heating up all of the substrate. if you put it underneath the tank and your T gets too hot it will burrow to try to cool down but obviously if the heat mat is underneath it will just get hotter and mess your T up. if you find that putting it at the back doesnt seem to heat it up enough give me a shout and Ill help you figure something else out.
you will need to buy a humidity gauge... then look at how humid the tank should be for your species then spray according to the gauge, if its low spray more often or if its high less often.... it also depends on your substrate, if you use potting soil, then that holds moisture quite along time, i find that in my cobalt blue set up, i only need to dampen the soil once a week, but some other set ups i have to mist the tank every 2 days. you really need to get a gauge, very cheep £2 or $3 on ebay
@Wolvve it depends on what tarantula you have. Find a care sheet on the internet that will tell you what humidity they will need (e.g.70-80%) and then buy a humidity gauge that will tell you how high the humidity is in your tarantula's tank. If it's too low spray it and check the humidity gauge every now and then.
The best way to get ACCURATE information on tarantulas is to look up care in a tarantula forum, each different SPecies has different requirements and MANY petstores are off a bit on their info, thinking care is like a reptile, which it is not. My advice is to google ANY tarantula forum to get accurate advice on how to care for your pet.
Temps for tarantulas vary a bit. Usual rule of thumb is if your comfy, they are comfy. 65-90 F is good for most T's. Heat rocks and Heat pads are VERY bad for them. You will fry your Tarantula. Heat pads are usually put under the tank. Tarantulas instinctively burrow to get away from heat, so you will end up cooking your pet. Not pretty.
are you a fucking idiot? "heat pads are usually put under the tank" "turantulas burrow to get away from the heat" do you know anything about the species?
i had a chillie rose but it unfortunatly died yesterday of dehidration so thats why im getting a mexican red kneed tarantula and it is also why im watching these videos but awsome videos like this one will help me

NEVER USE HEATPADS. THIS LADY DONT KNOW SH*T. Just use a normal compact heater in your room.
SlashNBash971 1 year ago
You do NOT need a heatmat, they can cook your T, and most T's love it bone dry.

how much do you spray down the substrate? How many squirts how often?
