I meant the 200sx from the late 90s was almost like the late 90s sentra... does anyone remember? there was also a late 80s and I think even into the 90s Nissan 200sx, the hatch back style that looked like the back to the future car..... that one I think turned into the 240sx.... Im not sure but thats my theory....lol
The stock motor isn't too bad for drifting I drift and race daily in mine I have less than 100,000 miles on my engine and the cars in fairly good shape, I race and drift with my friend which has a Datsun 280zx both beautiful cars and great for drifting though swapping the motors would be good for the 200sx since its only a 4 cylinder engine stock
Datson was a separate company until Nissan of Japan purchased them and took over In japan Nissan was a very successful company and didn't want their name being ruined so they changed the Datson name to Datsun to honor the sun in their flag, they used the name datsun in the US to protect the nissan name and the 200sx is actually the Nissan Silvia that's its name in Japan like here its Datsun 280 in Japan its Nissan Fairlady
Yes when Nissan came to the U.S. they created Datsun. Once they figured that they come make it they changed the U.S. name to Nissan. It was in the early to mid 80s when the name change happened. You would even see name plates that said Datsun by Nissan.
@YamahasRAwesome no, this 200sx isn't on a sentra/sunny chassis. this car is rear wheel drive and became the 240sx in the late 80's. the name 200sx was just stuck on the sentra 2door body in the mid 90's for a while.
@YamahasRAwesome yeah there was a nissan 200sx, I dont think it was meant to be more than just a sentra... I remember my engine said Z on the top and even though it was a 4 cylinder... it had 8 spark plugs... so did my dads datsun pick-up with Z engine... I dont know why but they did.... does anyone know why?
WOW i havent seen this car in years, I bought one back when I was 16 for 400 dollars, same color, this was in 1996, the car was running fine, the car radio with the extra cassette deck worked fine and the only thing that didnt work properly was the sunroof because it leaked. Loved that car. Miss that car. 200sx 1981
@jakesaintsrow123 Hey!!!!! I actually sold it to a friend of my dad, they used to work together, i drove it for about 2 years, and then the guy that bought it had it for about 4 more years.... he eventually sold it but it was still running strong... I wish I still had it..... yes that little car was fast also. my first car!!!!!!

Also the rear wheel drive was awesome. It had a 6 cyl and I would smoke My Friends Ford Ranger.

"40 MPG? 1980? Wow...we have gone backwards."
Factors that contribute to that:
1. Speed limit was 55mph back then.
2. Cars were much lighter and didn't have as good crash protection as we do now. More crash protection usually translates to more weight.
Which car would you rather be in a collision, 1979 Datsun 200SX or a 2009 Altima coupe?

They should bring back Datsun.

The 200SX sold in Europe and Asia was sold as a Nissan (US imports were marketed as Datsuns)...

This is a 1980 200SX, not 79. 77-79 body styles were different, and 80 was the 1st year of this style...just a little FYI
