Mainly she touches upon the financial reasons, and how it gives women in the areas to negotiate their standing in those societies. if we understand these reasons we can come up with alternatives therefore eradicating this. I've read all of Waris Diries books, I was truly moved by her story. I've yet to see the movie, Im sure its very upseting but i wish for everybody to see it... there needs to be more awareness about FGM.... This is still happening to this day in africa, europe and the western world... its wrong, so wrong.
I ran a half marathon in 2006 to raise money for the Waris Dirie foundation..... she is doing an amazing job campaigning but more awareness is needed.

This tradition has been going for many many years, its all done to satisfy the men, a man in that society will not marry a girl if she is not cut. and society will down on her if she is not cut, they do this so when the girl gets marryed her husband will know that she is a virgin. Mainly she touches upon the financial reasons, and how it gives women in the areas to negotiate their standing in those societies. if we understand these reasons we can come up with alternatives therefore eradicating this. I've read all of Waris Diries books, I was truly moved by her story. I've yet to see the movie, Im sure its very upseting but i wish for everybody to see it... there needs to be more awareness about FGM.... This is still happening to this day in africa, europe and the western world... its wrong, so wrong.
I ran a half marathon in 2006 to raise money for the Waris Dirie foundation..... she is doing an amazing job campaigning but more awareness is needed.
