Let's also remember that "giving back" or "community service" is often meant as low or unpaid work - at a time when people under 25 are more in debt than ever in our history. More young people would love to volunteer if they weren't trying to hold down two jobs and still keep up their GPA. In a way, "not being unemployed" is exactly the kind of community service we need, and we should recognize those who don't get around to planting trees, but who still struggle every day.
