  • Honestly, this music works better for me than anything I've heard by Weather Report.

  • @happystance9able

Completely agree - this has an "edge" and a power to it that I've never heard from WR.

  • Chick Corea as a solo artist has been around longer than Wayne and Zawinul as the GROUP Weather Report. Joe Zawinul and Wayne as solo artist have been or were (joe's case) around long before than Chick Corea. It's that easy, I think. Weather Report and Return to forever are simply contemporary.

  • this may not mean anything but Wayne and Joe were born in 1933 and 1932 . Chick was born almost 10 yrs later

  • !ANYONE NEED CHICK COREA ELEKTRIC BAND MUSIC SHEET!IF YOU WANT TO COVER A SONG BUT WONT FIND IT AT ULTIMATE.GUITAR.COM,CONTACT ME. I DO MUSIC TRANSCRIPTIONS 100% ACCURATE!,ILL SEND A FREE TRANSCRIPTION IF YOUR NOT SURE.

  • Sounds like any 80's TV series suspense music :D

  • Nice pocket.

Both great bands, no need to obsess on 'music as a contest'.

  • Chick Corea is a great musician. I like his music since I heard of it in 1973.

  • who gives a fuck

  • Sick drumming. So syncopated and over the bar line for so many measures - AWESOME - LOVE IT!

  • watch?v=3ijj2Bk2zIY

  • It's my favorite things...listen about the stacatto it's nice....harmony...cool...and dramatic...maybe if I remember the jaco pastorius......

  • It's always a pleasure for me to see Chick playing on the KX5. One of the kind KX5 player.

  • @bapyou Im pretty sure Chick's been around longer than Weather Report.

  • @believer06 Joe Zawinul and Shorter been around WAY longer than corea man. Do your homework. And I'm 100% with bapyou, electrik band is like Weather Report with all the mid 70s funkyness and latin music replaced with late 80s cold-ass jazz fusion schools attitude.

  • @SlikkTim Weather Report came out in 1970. Chick was putting out music since 1966. Thats all im saying. Anyway, both Chick and Weather Report cranked out great music. I doubt highly either would steal ideas from the other on purpose. Both were consistantly good for quite a few years.

  • @believer06 Youre defo right on the stealin ideas on purpose thang. I just happen to find the zawinul or herbie fusion stuff more pleasin to my hears. It's kinda funny their 70s stuff sounds less dated than the 80s stuff.

  • @SlikkTim - Corea and Shorter were both with Blakey's Jazz Messengers in a band that also had Chuck Mangione in it. If you can find it; an album, 'Buttercorn Lady' had their replacements on it. Keith Jarrett and Frank Mitchell.

    Now that's HOMEWORK ! HA !

  • @SlikkTim Zawinul, Shorter, Corea, and just about anyone who became anybody in jazz fusion in the 70s started with Miles on Bitches Brew, and many other notables appeared with him live or on other studio sessions during the early electric period 68-75. First Weather Report release was in 71, Return to Forever's in 72, but Corea ran with the Latin fusion vibe from the beginning. Don't imagine they were as petty about who did what first as you are being though, it's simply musical paths meeting.

  • @digimaton Zawinul and Shorter started in the 50s...

  • @SlikkTim dude we are discussing jazz fusion here not trad

  • @bapyou well in Jazz, we imitate -- err no, I mean in music we learn from each other.

  • @r3ck0rd Right on. To this day, Im stumbling across old tunes from influences of mine which i havent heard in ages which have elements of my style in them. i did not deliberately take anything from them intentionally and ever claim I had been the one who came up wih the riffs, techniques and whatnot. They just became a part of my style. To just an average listener of my music, they probably wouldnt even notice. Anyway, Im sure this goes for all musicians. No one is 100% original.

  • @bapyou

    Weather Report with groove.

  • @bapyou How can you say that. Chick is a great composer, making music, maybe before you were born. MAYBE YOU WILL SEE THE LIGHT ONCE!

  • @thegerrie19561 Yes, Chick is a great musician. This particular piece is imitation Weather Report however.

But it's alright: many of the fusion groups of the 70s/80s were imitation Weather Report; Spyro Gyra being the mosty egregious and awful example of the trend.

Weather Report were a cut above the entire crowd because of the great compositional depth of Zawinul, Shorter and a top-shelf youngblood like Pastorious. Z and S were around since the 40s. That band had mad soul.

  • @bapyou I wouldn't count Spyro Gyra as a fusion band. They sound like a wedding band to me.

  • so nice ! です.

  • Is that footage from the movie "Fame"? I love this album.

  • @fiveinslide6 Nope. They have videos for about all the songs on "Inside Out" LP. Yeah, it's my favorite LP of his. Can never get tired of listening to it.

  • song should be called mullet mania :)

  • Dave Weckl = amazing drummer and best mullet ever

  • this is good! :)

  • ja minähän en tee elämässä lainkaan virheitä.

  • Kikka Korea feat. Jussi Pattitussi Rocksfshss..

  • Fantastico il pezzo, strabilianti tutti loro... tutto sembra scivolare come l'acqua nel corso di un'esecuzione di un pezzo complesso e affascinante... magia allo stato puro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chick Corea with the KX5 and FM sound is one of the best things that has happened in keyboard music, at least to my opinion. He can feel that instrument so well. As well as he does with an acoustic piano, and any kind of keyboard for that matter.

  • Check on youtube! ;) Kikka Korea feat. Jussi Pattitussi

  • most of the song is in 4, just alot of intracate syncopations and phrasing.....my fave song off this LP

  • this song if you can play it on the drums, separates the men from the boys.

  • every musician is this band is so good at what they do and ya the drumer is a nut he can play some intence beats at weird timing

  • I have the whole VHS tape. They play the full album (minus Stretch it). They recorded and filmed at the same time. It has puzzled me for a long time, since we don't see many (if any) mics around the drums. Anyway, Tale of Daring is so impressive to watch. There must have been weeks of rehearsal to be able to play it without the charts!

Ah, and I forgot: In the official score, you can read "the music was written in one week" and "Thanks to Bela Bartok for the inspiration". No comment...

  • WoW! Electrifying and dramatical musical scenes accompanied by flashes of great elitist dance choreography! I love it!!

  • Can you imagine this video clip being shown on MTV these days? In between such highly accomplished musical geniuses as Eminem, and let's not forget the ever awesome Nickelback.

  • I must admit that I cannot imagine this being shown on MTV, nor can I imagine MTV actually beginning to play music :p

  • @666Luftballons

Your comment is, of course, meant to be ironic, right? ;-)

  • This is the best jazz fusion band ever!

  • master piece. a classical. minimum resources. perfect armony.

  • jajajajaja l

  • wow i like the way he uses various runs of P4 intervals :D

  • P4 intervals?? Please explain!!

  • Comment removed

  • Nah. Its just 1-5-8, no matter if maj or minor

  • wat is the time signature of this song becuz i dnt think its in 4/4

  • i think most is in 4, they are just super syncopated. (and maintain that groove so well)

  • i think too it's mostly in 4, atleast i get the most sense out of it by counting to 8 ( mostly that is lol ) but very neat tricks.

Sure drops me out of the rhytm many times with it's trickiness. Anyway, totally awesome song/composition. I never remembered this song was this good.

  • Ah classic Corea minor 11th chords. I love this tune from Inside Out. Very open solo sections. I like the motif at 2:26 and the outside stuff at 2:34 the best. Superb ending, I couldn't have written anything better.

  • Who is the beautiful lady dancing in the background?

  • toda la banda sois genial !! a ver cuando visitan nuestra querida ciudad de monterrey a ver si asi se nos quita un poco lo ranchero .

  • search for 'kikka korea' and watch the first video in the list :D

  • :DD

  • What album is this from?

  • Inside Out

  • whoa!!! Chick corea made a video for this? where can i find more? im interested to see?

  • I recorded this off TV (BET) back when the LP first came out. They made videos for every song off the LP (Inside out). unfortunately, this is the only one I have.

  • The video exists - Ive seen all of them at one time. But, I havent been able to find any of the others... on youtube or anywhere else.

  • This is why people want to learn how to play jazz

  • I totally agree. Dave Weckl is half the reason I joined the school jazz band lol

  • these is an all-star band man..

the best jazzist in the history

    Chick Corea

    Dave Weckl

    Eric Marienthal

    Frank Gambale

  • what about patitucci?

  • lol man Patitucci please LOL

  • Patitucci is the man in this band!

  • man,, what can i say,,, this is my ever favorite chick corea's song... hundreds of times listened and ever happy

  • corea's electric band is the only one that I like the most (in fussion bands) cos they are the best ever.

  • Well put. You can only like one of them the most.

  • Inside Out (the disc this tune is from) is one of the greatest fusion records ever. Chick is at the top of his game writing wise, and the guys are a well oiled machine. The "cap piece" of fusion up to this point. There, I said it and I feel better.

  • I 'll have to agree with you friend ....out of 2000 cd's - this one will let you realize not only musics capability but your stereo ( and neighbors) qualities ;)

  • You da man humbolt...CRANK IT UP!

  • Look! Chick Corea on a Kurzweil!? Where is his Yamaha synthesizer?

  • The Original Members of Chick Corea's Electric Band:

    Dave Weckl (awesome drummer)

    Eric Marienthal (killer sax player)

    Frank Gambale (skilled guitarist)

John Patitucci (deadly with the bass)

Awesome Stuff. I can't get enough of it. Great Post!

  • simply amazing

  • guau is chick. i saw Chick with electric band and isGREAT. LISTEN believer chick need a new invited in his band, Yoger ( you tube) guitar player from GEOXTIGMA, play jazz and metal progressive inst you will like.

  • capooooo ese corea se las trae ¡¡

  • gambale is like the best guitar player ever

  • remember now, when this came out jazz artists were trying to match the rest of the mtv world with produced videos of they're own. there was an attempt to go from pure live footage to something else. Fortunately, someone desided that jazz doesn't need gimicks like scantily dressed women.

  • I agree, but I just have difficulty getting into this electric band stuff.

  • You mightn't have to, seeing that this "electric band stuff" was done twenty

years ago. Of course, that'd make RTF even more dated. Chick's long since

moved on, as well he should. As for the rest of us, we can keep pace with

his continuing artistic evolution if we so choose. If not, we can rely on

our CD and vinyl collections for those special trips down Memory Lane.

  • Sry, guys, its all about RTF, at this point Chick is goin downhill.

  • Apples and Oranges, bro. I dug Return to Forever too. But, that was a different time. Don't you think it would be boring if he put out the same music for 20+ years straight? You have to respect the fact that Chick's constantly moving forward.

  • Yeah! Well said. Musicians evolve, move and experience life differently not even year by year but month by month. Everything could change in one breath of life. Chick has stood as an outstanding artist that keeps giving it a new turn. That's what counts.

  • Whoa Dave Weckl was killin back then and is Killin now!

  • back when dave played with some fire...now he sounds like an old man with hemorrhoids, eww...

  • hahaha...good one!!

  • your crazy he even sounds beter now

  • De los mejores musicos reunidos!

  • and what about cozy powell?

  • allthough the fashion wasn't that good i love this band, man.

dave weckl is maybe one of the best drummers...

  • maybe, but terry bozzio is not bad either

  • One of the great fusion masterworks, for sure! Thanks, believer!

  • Frank looks hilarious

  • What was this taped off of????

  • is there a Chick Corea choreography studio ..

  • You guys suck you probably don't even play any instrument this is some cool shit great musicianship

  • The "Inside Out" Album is still a great Inspiration. The best "Elektric Band" of all the Times of Chick..

  • these dudes are my heroes

  • ahhhh, the good ol days

  • Heartless wanky late 80s fusion at its best

  • you dont get the taste

  • no klasstek, what instrument to you play?

  • Bass... there's so much good fusion to hear. From the same era, the Yellowjackets or Zawinul Syndicate was puttin out far more pleasant shit

  • You know what they say about assholes and opinions. This music inspires lots of people. I suppose you think you are a better judge of music than all of them.

  • i love this album, but now i wont be able to listen to it without thinking back to these cheesy 80s jazz images :o I mean Chick Corea playing a keytar?!?

  • I don't think the dancers distract too much. It's just another dimension of artisty. Nice Video!

  • cool

  • eric marienthal is there doing his thing... hes soo fun to perform with... hes been doing that dance since the 80's... yeah he still does that wierd dance thing... yeah hes awesome

  • great job mr. Dave weckl

  • Brilliant stuff - THanks for posting it up!

    Keep it coming

    Je'Ran

  • Amazing song, amazing musicianship, shame about the Wig and Scientology! ;)

  • amazing work.........i love this album, out of this world

  • bloody amazing. beyond world-class. brilliant and a huge musical inspiration to nearly anyone that hears.

  • was anyone else wondering what the fuck those dancing women were about. i mean i'm all for scantily clad females on screen and whatnot, but when it's in such poor taste and blocking out musical brilliance, wtf?

  • It's the theme of the tune. Kicker=Dancer

  • agreed

  • Good god...Jazz Videos. I wonder if this even got played at 3:30AM Tuesday mornings on MTV in the 80s.

  • Don't Let Frank Gambale Out... He's Awesome Too... All of them are Killer Stuff!!!!

  • thats a bomb video! corea, weckl, and patitucci are out of this planet

  • I love John Patitucci and Dave Weckl

  • i love patitucci man

  • Ma alora anche tu???

    E, a me anche piacce!
