  • I am a different case altogether. Due to having tubes down my throat as I born born 3 months premature, my vocal chords are scarred. My vocal chords do not meet properly, n so not much sound comes out. My voice is very quiet and it sounds like I have either a cold or laryngitus. My surgeon has injected my right vocal chord with Radiesse, which has made it so they meet better. My voice is now clearer than it was but still quiet. thanks for sharing your video !

  • Thank you for helping me understand this better. Sincerely

  • hi..i am not sure whether i suffer from SD ot not but the symptoms of SD fit my conditions now...this happened since i was 13 (i'm 20 now)

i always got difficulties when communicating with others, especially talking to somebody in close distance where i need to talk in lower voice...

i found myself developing involuntary stress on my throat after talking with them in such situation for a long time...

i'll meet doctor tomorrow and hopefully its gonna be alright...

  • I HAVE THIS SEE MY VIDEO

  • I found your video to be extremely moving. I just came back from the neurologist today & was informed that I have generalized dystonia. For the most part its manifestation is involuntary movements & pain but I've also been told in comments on my YouTube videos about shooting pellet guns that I sound like i'm 12 years old. I'm 37. My voice isn't always like that, but I have no control over it. You are one very brave woman putting yourself out there on YouTube like you have. I hope to learn more.

  • do you get a sore throat when you talk too much? my voice is effected by having had so many breathing tubes in my throat from surgeries. my voice gets really sore after a while. i also don't have much lung power so i avoid talking more than i have to.

  • No, not really. I don't have any pain with this. My vocal cords just pull apart spontaneously, which causes the breathy breaks in my voice.

I've considered going to singing classes so I can build up more strength behind my voice.

  • You're very pretty. I hope things get better for you.

  • Hi you! This vid came up related to one of mine (tag dystonia). So your dysphonia is a type of dystonia in the muscles of your throat. Good job raising awareness.

  • Yup, sure is! Funny seeing that this video is making rounds :).

  • Hi there, I have been diagnosed with the condition too. Except the physician said its a temporary one (didnt realli know if there is one from my research of the condition). I have taken a mixture of two TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) herbs. One of them is cordyceps which is said to have helped with the resp system. Have thankfully recovered from the "temporary" SD and now the hard part, look for a job and start all over again.
