Everybody use to identify with big pete because he was more mature and always the most sane in the family (a family with a grumpy mom and a dumb dad) and the small pete was to just roll in the floor laughing, anyway the greatest part was when they helped one to each other in case of trouble.

God. I am born in 1997. But i have a 26 and 21 year old brother. They kept my filled in my entire life. and i LOVE Pete and Pete. I wish i could say i was a 90's kid, but i can't. People around my age are going "Yeah 90's woo!" and there saying the easily remembered shows like the "Amanda show", and "All That" (which i love, don't ge me wrong) and I say "Yeah, what about Pete and Pete?" and ever body is like.. "Huh? Are you retarded?" and i just puke, everywhere. Oh well. Still a great song.
Went back and watched some old nickelodeon shows for the nostalgia. I realized how amazing well written this show was. It felt very emotionally real even if it was just nonsensical. I love it when children's entertainment tries to be unique and doesn't feel like it has to dumb itself down.
On a side note, when watching these old shows I grew up with, I realized something. Hey Dude was fucking dogshit.
@arouska I've always hated Hey Dude.. I was like WTF MAN.. and get pissed an throw my fruit roll up at the TV and I FUCKING LOVED FRUIT ROLL UPS >_<!!! i'd still eat it after
its mighty strange....you looking at the leafy range...ive could told yous shimbag or have you kicked your dog yet it's in me?! got your dog? Its in me? I been away, in that species, in that badais, people talkin funny, b ut guitar hit the folk comin, got your dog it's in me...got your dog it's in meee!
Do you guys know any other band kinda 90'ish like this or Miracle Legion and such? Something like "It's the end of the world as we know it". I'm looking for this genre but I can find a description.
@lopeztrasmiranda It was called alternative or college rock then, but everything has that tag now. try looking for the MTV show "120 minutes" and you'll find a lot of stuff.
i hear this song and think...somewhere, out there in the world, artie, the strongest man...in the world is running free, doing battle with the atlantic ocean, moving houses, and staring down queen bees...i miss that man.
We of the 90s watched the Power Rangers & even played the first Mortal Kombat at young ages, yet turned out just fine, as the television & games served as a vent for life's frustrations, as opposed to kids killing themselves by imitating cartoons like Naruto or accidents like the Ken State tragedy (which "Hey Sandy" references) that so many are ready to blame on the makers of violent imagery, even though it is the parents & kids themselves who are at fault for what happened.
@streetphysician: "Could you settle to shoot me? Or have you picked your target yet? Hey Sandy! Don't you talk back. Hey Sandy! Four feet away...End of speech, it's the end of the day. We was only funnin', but guiltily I thought you had it comin'."
I remember waiting for Adventures of pete and pete to come on and as soon as this song started I got up dancing!!! <333 Takes me back! I feel so old! lol So terrible what things have come to these days....especially coming from this...So depresssing!
The famous "a can u sail-a-shume-bay" line. I remember always wondering what Polaris was saying there as a kid! Alas it's "Could you settle to shoot me?"
@dbzdude2002: "Hey smilin' strange. You're lookin' happily deranged. Could you settle to shoot me? Or have you picked your target yet? Hey Sandy! Don't you talk back. Hey Sandy! Four feet away...End of speech, it's the end of the day. We was only funnin'l, but guiltily I thought you had it comin'. Hey Sandy! Don't you talk back. Hey Sandy!"
Eerily similar to the Kent State Massacre (poor Sandra Schreiver [the Sandy mentioned]), much?
I remember when i had 7 years old, and coming right of school, eating a sandwich watching the new cartoons, the fuckin beavers and hey arnold. The best part comes when i fake a cold and stay in home, i watched Pete & Pete all morning. I wish i can be on that time. now are 15 years! im' 22! SHIT!
This thread is hilarious, I'm gettin' a little tear of nostalgia! From a UK POV I will say I think kids TV we grew up with (80s 90's) was way smarter, edgier, funnier and damn cooler on both sides of the Atlantic than the fucking weird terrible kids shows on now
@cjstevens8 well - kids are a lot edgier today than they were in the 80s and 90s. Smarter? morally. Funnier? Sure. Cooler? Undoubtedly. Even a couple of innocent dbags like Pete and Pete make Drake + Josh and Zoey 101 (among other shows) look like fucking trainwrecks. Back in the day though you didnt think the kids portrayed on these 80s and 90s shows were anything out of the ordinary, but now it;s like a snapshot of the pre-internet age, in comparison better, in most ways simpler.
lyrics. Hey smilin strange you lookin happily deranged could you settle to shoot me? or have you picked your target yet Hey sandy dont you talk back hey sandy 4 feet away end of speech is the end of the day we was only funnin but guiltily i thought you had it comin hey sandy dont you talk back hey sandy (frickin epic guitar solo) hey sandy dont you talk back hey sandy hey sandy dont you talk back hey sandy heey (closing riff)
@djpetrick222 It's peculiar and ironic. This song is about a girl named Sandy who was killed in the crossfire there when a bullet when through her throat.
@djpetrick222: It's not. Peculiar means strange and it's ironic, because the song is theme to zany sitcom Pete & Pete, yet is about the Ken State massacre, in particular, Sandy's tragic death.
@Andalucia727 Okay, if anything, this song was picked due to the fact that its lyrics were only half comprehensible and it sounded cool. Nickelodeon most likely doesn't support stuff like that.
These kids now are missing out now with their stupid Big Time Rush and Hannah Montana CDs. In the 90's, this was the soundtrack worth listening to for a kids' show.
@retrogroovygal111 thats because we had real songs by real artist that did the openings to the old show....like how TLC did All That theme....but now if you have a show that makes you a singer as well...how did that even happen...i mean really
@retrogroovygal111 Honestly, I would have agreed with you before, but now I really don't think so. To them BTR and Hannah Montana is their thing. It's not meant for us because we're adults now and we need to move on with our lives. Think about it, do you think the generations that grew up watching Looney Tunes, Clutch Cargo, and Scooby Doo really thought are shows were any good. I'm certain they said the same things when they grew up. Let's just enjoy our shows and let em have theirs.
@OniLordMiki true, there were some complains, but no, i dont remember that there was such a conflicts in between generations, most of the parents in the 90's would actually understand our ways of entertaining, they sure knew our cartoons were dumb, but now there 2 generations thinking that the new series are messed up.
but there ARE things that the kids now will actually look back at and remember how good they were. not the pop things though, i mean... who the heck can remember the BSB?
@OniLordMiki: Funnily enough, we were the Silver Age (ex: Kid's WB, the debut & success of Nickelodeon [i.e. Nicktoons like Rugrats & Hey Arnold; game shows like GUTS & Hidden Temple; brilliant live-action shows like Pete & Pete, Alex Mack, or Salute Your Shorts; its answer to Tales from the Crypt/Tales of the Darkside/Goosebumps/Eerie Indiana via Are You Afraid of the Dark; etc.], as well as classic Disney & the fledgling Cartoon Network).
@OniLordMiki: You say our previous generations would've disliked our shows, but the airing of shows those previous generations grew up on right alongside our own (ex: Looney Tunes, Charlie Brown, The Muppets, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Underdog, etc. all airing on Nickelodeon right alongside the Rugrats, Kablam, Hey Arnold, Alex Mack, Pete & Pete, and other 90s Nick classics that prove--like the TeenNick latenight block--"The 90s ARE All That") disproves that.
Anne Sweeney = Disney Destroyer (Mickey as a Dora knock-off, replacing CR on a 2010 CGI Pooh show--which Clare Milne sued Disney for--and her direct statement about how young girls now are only thinking about being hot, as opposed to the princesses & tomboys of the past)
Stu Snyder = CN Crusher (he came up with CN REAL)
Teen Mom = Self-explanatory
Toddlers & Tiaras = Toddler exploitation by putting whore-ish looks over actual personality
Iam From mexico, and I liked to watch pete & pete, for me it was one of the greates shows in the 90's and this song always makes me feel in the 90's wen I was a kid... I always wanted this song to last a little more XD sorry for my english
@caatgunr Wow cool the 90's tv shows and the music were the best for m:D nice to meet you bro I am from Durango Mexico I would like to go to LA some day... Do You have facebook or sometin' ???
Are you guys kidding about the tv being better in the 90's. It just seemed that way because we were younger. Any of you ever tried to watch any of the old tv shows you used to like in the 80's and 90's?? Unwatchable.....
A lot more channels and options today. I think the problem is that society has degraded so much in the past 10 years (as evidenced by popular culture) that people are finally starting to get mad about it. I guess one good thing is that there were no reality shows.
@WorshipInTruth good point..thoush i can still watch pete and pete or sertin how and get a kick...as a adult i find the show martin evan more funny. but now is seedy.
@WorshipInTruth when i was a kid, i watchedd exo squad and (the good) sonic. both were about heroic "freedom fighters" resisting the tyrannical world government. today, kids shows are about how good it is to submit to world government so they can save us from imaginary problems like global warming.
Wow!!!! I never realized how creepy the lyrics were!!! i mean when your a kid you don't pay attention to the small things . this was the intro to one of my favorite show PETE and PETE>> But the intro still takes me back.
Actually, the whole album is the only thing ever done by Polaris and was done for the show. Everything else the band did outside of the show was done as Miracle Legion.
@zemzembamzem sorry I kinda screwed that one up a bit, forgive me for being tired. It's: I'll give you a shell if you shoot me. Referring to a shotgun shell.
I just built a time machine who's coming back to the early 90's with me? Days when Nickelodeon and Michael Jordan ruled the tv. When there was no Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, but Billy ray cyrus and his achy breaky heart. these days may be gone but at least we lived through them and enjoyed them. i rate the 90's 10/10.
im so glad i was born in 89 i was able to watch and enjoy nickelodeons golden age with all its great shows pete and pete and salute your shorts was my favorite, then all of a sudden its gone and we're stuck with sponge bob and the rest of the shitty shows.
While not to break everyone's nostolgia...I never want to go back...my years as a child were filled with way to much being pushed into the ground...assholes.
Wow...I didn't know that a simple musing on my part would apparently strike true with so many people. I'm just as glad as I am surprised, however. It's incredibly good to know that I'm not the only one who feels that way.
When you're in kindergarten, you want to be in elementary school. When you're in elementary school, you just want to get to middle school. When you're in high school, you just want to get to college. When you're in college, you just want to go back to high school. When you're at grad school, you just want to be there at college. And when you've gone up and down the corporate ladder, and you've seen the peak of the highest mountain, you just want to go back to kindergarten.
@Nothwithstanding Isn't that the truth. Goes to show just how trivial our wants and needs are as human beings, when all we really want is to be kids again.
@Nothwithstanding I literally said that EXACT SAME THING in 6th grade my first year of middle school I swear to god. Except Ieft out the grad school part. I cannot believe society has gotten so dull minded that they gave you 40 thumbs up for something I disregarded as completely jack-off attempt at a philosophical quote before high school.
Your page says you're 23. when you're significantly older than 23, you might end up having a different idea of what time period you'd ideally like to go back to. like for example, when you're 45, you might lump your college and grad school years together. who knows?
it's almost hard to listen to this song. It sure is great to hear this again but I know that I'll never be able to relive the 90's and that time of magic. I miss how it used to feel in fall, when the leaves fell and that smell was in the air.
Everybody use to identify with big pete because he was more mature and always the most sane in the family (a family with a grumpy mom and a dumb dad) and the small pete was to just roll in the floor laughing, anyway the greatest part was when they helped one to each other in case of trouble.

XR11995 6 months ago
@OniLordMiki no way, man. my parents knew that the adventures of pete and pete was quality.

TherealRNO 4 months ago
@OniLordMiki: You say our previous generations would've disliked our shows, but the airing of shows those previous generations grew up on right alongside our own (ex: Looney Tunes, Charlie Brown, The Muppets, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Underdog, etc. all airing on Nickelodeon right alongside the Rugrats, Kablam, Hey Arnold, Alex Mack, Pete & Pete, and other 90s Nick classics that prove--like the TeenNick latenight block--"The 90s ARE All That") disproves that.
TherealRNO 4 months ago
@OniLordMiki: Another thing that disproves it...
TherealRNO 4 months ago
@retrogroovygal111 Make that for adults too, I mean all it only was a half-way decent underrated 1990's rock band.

@caatgunr Wow cool the 90's tv shows and the music were the best for m:D nice to meet you bro I am from Durango Mexico I would like to go to LA some day... Do You have facebook or sometin' ???
Kaifanef 1 year ago

@cyberpsygen7 Same propaganda in the 90's. It is just more blatant now.

so pete and pete had an exclusive track? cool.

@AntiVenomFangX

When there was no Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, but Billy ray cyrus and his achy breaky heart. these days may be gone but at least we lived through them and enjoyed them. i rate the 90's 10/10.
joshman783 1 year ago
@joshman783 I agree. Even though we have to look ahead to the future, we are pretty grateful to live through and enjoy the 1990s.

I used to watch this show when I was like 8 or 9, everyday after elementary school, good times I wish to go back so bad : (

Goes to show just how trivial our wants and needs are as human beings, when all we really want is to be kids again.

bryanbko 1 year ago
@Nothwithstanding I literally said that EXACT SAME THING in 6th grade my first year of middle school I swear to god. Except Ieft out the grad school part. I cannot believe society has gotten so dull minded that they gave you 40 thumbs up for something I disregarded as completely jack-off attempt at a philosophical quote before high school.
CharlieMansonIsGod 1 year ago 6
Your page says you're 23. when you're significantly older than 23, you might end up having a different idea of what time period you'd ideally like to go back to. like for example, when you're 45, you might lump your college and grad school years together. who knows?

it's almost hard to listen to this song. It sure is great to hear this again but I know that I'll never be able to relive the 90's and that time of magic. I miss how it used to feel in fall, when the leaves fell and that smell was in the air.
