Mr. King, I don't know if a matchbox could hold your clothes, but those two guitars sure held some magic. I honestly think that Albert King was in awe of Stevie's guitar playing. Shoot, who wasn't!
Love the song, great blues feel. Love the interaction between the two of them. Notice at :49 seconds, when Albert says "I remember them day real good" Stevie says " I KNOW" The funny thing is when Stevie was 9 years old, Albert was 40 years old. So, let's get real here for a minute. Albert was probably talking about the hard times he had trying to be a musican when he was about 30 years old. So how in the world would Stevie "KNOW"
I try not to copy Albert King directly. It's just too obvious and I think people will say "Hey, them's Albert King licks!". Somehow SRV got away with it, though.
These two men are responsible for me taking up the guitar and learning to play. I want to spread the knowledge that music should be about passion and less about making money.

i am only 23 i am a youngster but i love the blues bb king gary moore jimmy and also albert king etc my friends keep telling me i was born in the wrong era i love listen to old school music
man this tune just give's me goose bumps stevie just nail's those lics and albert was just get blowen with a little awe but nothing really too blow him out of the water because after this is albert king and stevie was in his mid prime plays durning this recording may be if they got back together 4 years later from this date of this recording stevie prolly would have had some moves too blow king a way but i love the way stevie looks at albert king like a little kid in a candy shop egar to learn
@Sly6035 It's not anything out of the ordinary-I don't know what key it's in, but if you listen to the lick you can probably nail it, it's just bends and vibrato, no crazy techniques, pentatonic...
Gee thats really neat how Mr. King has picked up on Stevie's style, voicing and inflections on the guitar for the blues so fast.He must be a big fan of Stevie's to catch on so fast.I wonder what came first the chicken or the egg?
After listening to Stevie for nearly 30 years of my life I am still blown away by his gift for improvisation. Every aspect of his playing is top notch but his phrasing draws a limitless amount of variations from such a simple scale. He didn't run around like a speed king to show off, it always SOUNDED good and he knew exactly where he was at every moment. The man played guitar with his soul.
@evh7775150 don't forget about fun. it's obvious albert & srv are enjoying playing together. there's no sense of anger, woe is me, or doom-n-gloom feel. notice the smiles and joy on their faces. i'd find it surprising if the listener doesn't automatically tap their foot & get in a good mood when watching this. i don't see/hear this in most of today's music.
@LoekSijbers It's from 1983. Part of a short lived "In Session" program that was meant to put people like this together and record them. There's lots of outtakes that weren't released that are worth looking up :)
I still love telling the story how I walked into Rasputin's Music in Berkley , Ca and I was trying to find a rare Stevie Ray CD for my brother. I couldn't locate him in Blues so I asked one of the blue dyed hair punks that work there if they had any SRS. He told me "yea, in the Rock section"....I told him Stevie Ray Vaughn is Blues....the kid looked at me funny and said "no he's rock"...I wanted to break his face but I remembered he's just a 3 chord aficionado what does he know about music
It's been a week, and I'm still listening to this track daily. It's like a crucial part of my life now. Stevie's solo is phenomenal. Albert's voice is as velvet as it ever was.
@Redk00laid u aint never lie bro im 25 but i guess society want me to jam the lil wayne or drake bullshit fuck that im gettin game from the old school!!! not this lost generation..
this is still kickass about the 4:00 mark when SRV is wrapping up his solo and u wonder how hes gonna turn it around , then about 4:02-4:07 he nails it, and albert king cocks his head and grins and says, "Huh".....stevie laid it on ol' albert bigtime, and i love it......like Muddy Waters would say, "shit hell mutha fucka u got that one down"
i had this same video saved last year from another person, it was taken down claiming copy rights! who in the FUDGE is going around do that when this thing is not even on a DVD yet!!!! SO OVER DUE YOU IDIOT RECORD PEOPLE!!!!
