  • The Viet Nam war played and sounded a lot better than this.

  • I do agree with comments, sounds to have better graphics but music is so awesome on C64!

  • Okay the graphics look nice, but the c64 game was programmed in less than 2 months and this version came out years after. Also the c64 Hubbard tune is unsurpassed. The only thing hating about the c64 version is the lack of all the levels!

  • @teletubbles the c64 version plays and sounds, in my view, better.

  • wow, this game takes me back. all i truly remember is the stuff up to the giant commander guy. loved lobbing grenades :D

and the console had better animation and gun sounds.

  • to be hnest, this version shouldve sounded better than this....

  • Its 8 bit, not 8 bits....

  • I think the console versions are better than these computer versions.I like the Atari 7800 version.

    get your ears tested

    C64 commando game

    had gun fire sound at

the end of the 3rd area

    building character runs in

it also had a sound when

    the character got shot

  • My ears are fine. I was talking about having gunfire sound effects throughout the game, as it should be, not just at the end of some area. It's obvious, they traded some basic sound effects in the game in order to have impressive music. It's just my opinion, but I don't like the trade-off, no matter which system it's done on.

  • Commando game Atari XE Game System never released

that port can't be classified as a version of Commando

  • C64 Commando looks more like the arcade game than the Atari 8-bit ports

  • Commando Amiga & ST graphics looks like they're very close to the arcade version

  • Ahle2

have you played or seen Commando arcade game ?

i have it looks the same as Amiga & ST port

i'm not sure Commando Amiga & ST had an audio problem

  • C64 version had better audio

  • Yea, C64 has better audio... No gunfire sound at all, and strange sound effect for bombs. What kind of shooter has no sound for gunfire? If the Atari freed up the voice used for gunfire, do you think it could have used it to do a better version of the music track too? You bet!

  • Amiga & ST versions look better

  • Barely, the ST/Amiga versions looks awful!

They could have been done a lot better...

  • It looks better than the C64 And ZX Spectrum

    versions

  • But the score on the C64 rocks... ;) Try to find it.

  • it look pretty good

  • The Commando version of Atari includes the 4 levels of Arcade game. And finishing that, there is another round of 4 additional levels. Total:8 levels. There are beginner, normal and expert mode. The best ported version.
