Having seen both builds. You could use a "short" buggy frame and stick the bike in like the first build and end up with a fine looking ride. I have seen just such a build using a "long" buggy frame. And by using a VW Beetle torsion tube front end, you don't need to custom build it. And the speedo drives from the left front hub.
