I dont agree with him 100% but i see where he is coming from, everything has become commercialized, and a great example is the Jonas Brothers, anybody can go and play jazz, metal, pop and the reason is to make money, but i think there is still something pure in DJ and underground music, they arent there to make money, but to create music..... just my take,
Agreed. Jazz isn't dead at all. It hasn't gone mainstream and it hasn't turned into a "business", wtf. Turn on the radio and what do you hear these days, 90% of the time... pop. Yeah heavy music is starting to go downhill too, but I wouldn't say Jazz is at all.
@FaithIsAccidental Jazz is not dead, and IMO will never die because it is highly appreciated by multiple audiences and there are so many levels of expression in jazz, as well as funk or blues. The sad thing is, many musicians want money and fame, and thats what kills a genre. Any genre itself can be successful, but if the musicians behind it have alterior motives that crave money, fame, and drugs, they ultimately become their own enemy. THAT will not only kill the genre, but them as well.
I think this stuff has an effect beyond youtube comments- I work in the music business and can't get my peers to understand this music, but when I first heard jungle mods by 'u4ia' it changed my life... and I too feel compelled to figure out some way to do this sort of thing, from my own background and abilities.
its not the first time songs have been dubbed...king tubby..1960's..and his was much better..not to mention lee "scratch" perry..for the end and uroy was the boss #1 dj...
i like it but i won't buy it its just not my thing jungle to me is junk puttogther now not saying all jungle is like that buut i like trance better u can do more things with trance that drum and bass or jungle so its all good thought
really? i find trance kinda limiting, myself. maybe i haven't heard the same kind of trance that you like. but as i see it drum & bass doesn't have a lot of rules, whereas trance is a bit more structured. it relies on that 4/4 groove; but drum & bass relies on a broken groove, and it can be broken in many different ways. do you see jazz musicians leaving the jazz scene by the side to play live trance? food for thought.
Yes, jingle stick...but notice how he's using it on a mounted tambourine for a double tambourine beat...if you use the jingle stick while drumming try not to hit any cymbals too hard as they tend to crack under the stress of the heavy plastic it's made of...

3:01 Just because a genre isnt going through a movement does not mean its not artistic or necessarily dead.
