  • I got caught in a reverse bent armbar while in sidecontrol once. It was pretty embarassing for me reguardless if the guy was a purple belt or not that did it I was embarassed. It takes alot of class to actually put a video of yourself getting submitted in and advantagous position. Oss!

  • damn he got choke the hell out lol,

  • just a little tip when ur in someones gaurd and there reaching for the baseball bat choke do not try to pass because that sets up the choke juss try to break down the arms

  • Its so cute to see BJJ guys use Judo techniques and claim it for themselves.

    Fools

  • @judopathoftruth Check your history, JiuJitsu is the predecessor to Judo. Judo is the sport version of the fighting style known as JiuJitsu.

Jigaro Kano was a JiuJitsu practitioner of JiuJitsu before he developed the toned down version know today as Judo.

I've competed against many black belts in Judo and have easily defeated them all. Granted they were better at throws, but were easily submitted.

  • I rolled with Shaolin at his school in New York and he caught me with this. At first I couldn't believe I'd passed, and then next thing I know I'm tapping!

  • ur all a bunch of faggots ill nok u all out in like a blink of an eye

  • @tylerbligey1 You can't possibly be serious. so you have some hands, big deal so does everybody else! Prepare to go to sleep as soon as you face somebody that has ground skills as well as kick boxing. I'd give you a golden shower once I put you out just for the faggot comment. I guess I'm just not as classy as James.

  • @tylerbligey1 Not if it was a spelling contest.

  • my favorite choke. especially wen im on the bottom i catch a lot of guys. they think theyre passing but the choke just sinks in deeper. ive been sleeping a lot of people with this choke... not on purpose though lol! cheers!

  • Very clever! - I recently pulled this move off which can been seen on my channel video titled "BJJ Gator Choke - Baseball Choke" - You have to be careful when trying this on more seasoned BJJ practitioners, you can easily get arm-bared if you know how to defend this choke.

  • hey im consdering in starting to start traing in a mrtial arts form can u tell me about BJJ

  • @crimsin03 The theory is very basic: Take the fight to the ground. Dominate the position where you can effectively attack, and not be attacked, and end the fight with a submission i.e. choke, armlock, or leglock.

It's fun, it is 1 of the most practical arts out there. It's relatively safe. Try it!

  • @tapskilz What belt are the guys ?

  • @tapskilz is baseball choke where you grab both sides of the opponents collar and make a X with your wrists and squeeze? i learnt that in my first lesson last week. pretty slick. can choke u out fast

  • @AidanXD10 In a baseball choke you use a grip reversed from what you would normally. This isn't useful UNTIL your opponent passes your guard on the proper side at which point you have leverage that you wouldn't otherwise have and can choke him.

  • @tapskilz love it how BJJ they jump and get you in guard it's so annoying to go up against that...

  • @tapskilz HAA dude aint bjj one of the most deadly styles on the ground cause i got my muay thai skills down so im gonna tackle bjj and join the ufc

  • @tapskilz Works great for a single attacker...but when you get 2 or more, you're screwed...you get on the ground in a street brawl, you're dead...but it's a good cardio workout...great for that.

  • @tapskilz Telling someone its safe when your showing a video of YOURSELF laying face down unconscious isn't the smartest thing to do/say.

  • @tapskilz

You never wanna take a fight to the ground lol. BJJ is just incase it ends up down there. It isn't very safe eaither

  • @crimsin03 Honest bit of advice,if you aren't using it for competition, just for street usage, learn to fight standing up for GOD sakes,if you try any of this in the middle of a club, all the dudes friends will lay the boots to you and jump on your head,if it's for tournament use though, theres a reason most MMA fighters have a base in JJ or BJJ,hope that helps :)

  • Man, I love doing lapel chokes from the top or the bottom. My favorite, this one time I had a dude in closed guard and he was trying to stand up to attempt a pass and I grabbed his lapels and pulled myself up and started it while he was standing. I love BJJ!

  • you hit it from the bottom... didnt think that was possible. respect

  • nice!

  • this is the only choke i've ever used that put some one unconcious. it wasn't intentional but it just happened so fast the guy didn't even have time to tap.

  • oh dude, eddi camden taught me that if i get into a choke and the guy is layin ont he ground on his side holding u like that, press the blade of your arm on him, put your other free hand with monkey grip on ur wrist, and put a lot of pressure on his head, then pull ur head up, push ur body a lil forward(12 o clok) then twist out to the left(11 o clok) is what i was taught. I dunno how it would work with a collar choke though..

  • i cant tell, is the choke done with the collar or something?? i wish this vid was higher resolution

  • Wow, the ref. didnt see the end till Robin let go

    props to both parties

  • it's very very cool to see some humility here. You really show a lot of character and self confidence by sharing this vid. Mad props to you!

  • I'm going to sign up at Robin Gieseler's academy in Westerville, Ohio soon....can't wait.

  • does the blue outfit represent a higher grade

  • No. In BJJ competition you can wear either White, Blue, or Black.

  • excuse me to disturb you.....2 questions: first, what song is it :P???and second: as long as I know the baseball choke would be a collar choke/ kata eri jime???

thanks 4 ur time man :)

  • I'm not sure of the song. It is the band, Finger 11. Youtube made me replace the original song.

It is a collar choke, but not kata eri jime. Kata Eri Jime is what we would call a single wing or single lapel choke.

  • @tapskilz

    Or red :)

theres a few guys from belgium with red Gi's. Ive also seen some guy with a green camo Gi, that looked pretty damn cool!

  • no, well in judo if you wear a blue gi, you dont have to put on a red belt.. if you wear a white gi and is the "opponent" you have to have a red belt on, while the other one has a white on..

  • James is a BJJ instructor here in Indianapolis, Indiana. I took my first course from him. I think he is a brown belt in BJJ and Blackbelt in Judo.

  • MPA2000- Who are you? Do you still train?

I am actually a Black Belt in BJJ and a Brown Belt in Judo. I have had my Judo Brown belt for nearly 10 years now! LOL

  • Wow, man, I can't believe you posted a video of yourself getting choked out. BJJ guys are the coolest ever. I'm not being sarcastic. lol

I saw a video of Xande Ribiero getting choked by a rear naked and he was clapping for the guy right after he tapped while they were still on the ground.

    Definitely agree with MMABuddha's comment.

  • Class act James for posting this, and credit to his opponent.

  • This is my favorite choke, and it's super quick when you get it right. I choked someone out with it in Judo class before I even realized what was happening.

  • I have never learned to do a base ball choke from the bottom, I don't see how that is possible. Does anyone have a link of a how to video clip?

  • ii'm pretty sure ou can get it from anywhere. keith owen has a video, search his name and baseball chokes and you should find it

  • just do a search on youtube....I just got done watching the tutorial for 2 different approaches to the baseball choke..

  • Great job and great choke. Impressed with your sportsmanship. Very few people post videos of themselves losing, or getting choked unconscious. A class act and a true sportsman.

  • What a humbling experience. Thanks for posting it James and nice choke Robin!

  • What is the name/artist of this song?

  • "Strangle Hold" by Ted Nugent I believe.

  • well, it was, but youtube made me change it. Now it is finger 11, not sure the song.

  • Robin you are the man....When are you fighting again in Columbus? - Kratzer

  • Thanks to James for posting a video on youtube that actually shows me winning a match. He is definitley one of the classiest guys I know in jiu-jitsu and a great competitor. It could have easily been me getting choked out.

  • @robingieseler nice that you acknowledge that but after watching this vid, and seeing you not very concerned or not even going to try lift his legs up after he goes unconscious and just walk away after the win made me quite upset to watch. I tought that was quite not a classy thing to do, to not even go to him when he was passed out and try help the ref wake him up.yes you went to him after he woke up lol but u get what im getting at... other than that great match and very nice sub. oss.

  • @GrapplersPlanet That is something I always regret when I see the video. I went off the mat to hug my instructor Relson. I let go as soon as I knew he was asleep. Lifting his legs I think is a bit of superstition. I wish my actions would have shown more respect for the other competitor. I certainly didn't mean any disrespect and James and I continue to be great friends to this day. What I should have done was go to the corner of the mat and kneal until he was awake and okay.

  • @robingieseler I didn't ever see any disrespect in your actions. I have actually choked people out in Judo competitions and they DO NOT want you touching the person in any way, shape, or form. Let's also not forget that we didn't know each other well at the time. THEN I would have done the exact same thing. Not to mention you just won the National Tournament!!!!!! NOW, I I may act a little differently, maybe not. LOL

Robin Gieseler is a great competitor and above that, A GREAT PERON!

  • Man, I've seen people faint in judo before, but I haven't seen a video like this where the choke actually works and the person being choked actually rides it out.

    Thanks for the video man.

  • thats my black belt here in columbus! go robinho

  • Agree, thank you James.

  • Props to James for posting this vid... proof that he is a class act with no ego, just love for the sport.
