  • 第一首曲子叫什么啊?挺好听的。。

  • Funny, for the first time I can see you using the guitar over the right leg in one single music (I Believe), why, something special?

  • green sleeves is french

  • wikipedia still says "a traditional English folk song"

  • @ClassicalJoeNo1 It is of English origin, but, Wikipedia isn't always a very reliable source as anyone can post what they believe on it :P

  • Are you still looking for students? I believe I fit the requirements.

  • PIĘKNIE ...BEAUTIFUL ... :)

  • hi joe1,

i live in sweden, far away from the usa, but that doesn't prevent me from appreciating your performance. in fact i love listening at you, now is it possible to teach me the classical guitar? my question sounds stupid, though! lol

  • If you have a specific question, I might be able to help. Send me an email if you want.

    Thanks.

  • My finger are too short to play guitar as well, i learn about two years then give up...sigh

  • Short fingers are not a big deal. It might be a little bit harder for stretching your left hand. But the hard part of playing classical guitar is your right hand. You don't need long fingers. You need nails :)

  • use a shorter guitar like liona boyd

  • this is one of the solutions

  • Joe, I fulfill all 5 criteria...AND I live in the Inland Empire. What would be the best way to discuss details with you?

  • We already talked by emails:)

Sorry for the late reply. I'm actually way behind my YouTube messages :(

  • What part of L.A?

  • City of Alhambra

  • Are non-Asians welcome too?

  • Yes, it's more than welcome:)

  • Wow... I wish I was in LA... :'-(

  • can i writer a letter in chinese?

  • sure

  • okay. What is the name of the first song with the newspaper animation? Lol That one doesn't say. thanks man. Big fan of your playing. I see one every other day. very inspirational

  • The name is Se Ela Perguntar. Same composer as the 2nd piece.

    Thanks for comment:)

  • joe are u korean???? 한국사람?

  • No. I'm a Chinese.

  • I think you are more than an amateur (though you call yourself one in your channel).

I like your "student-requirements". Sounds like you have some experience in teaching :-)

    All the best...

  • Thanks. I did teach a few:)

  • how old are u joe and how long did u play guitar?

  • I'm in my 30s. It's been quite a long time since my first touch of the guitar:)

  • You are so awesome. I hope Ill be xable to play like that someday.

  • Thanks. You practice, you will.

  • Hi, I'd like what you on this particular video, please let me know what is the name of the song ? Thanks again !

  • I did put all the names of each song.

  • thanks.

  • LOST ANGELES!! that's too bad :[[[

  • too far away?

  • way tooo far away haha

  • I think, among people who play and know classical guitar on youtube here, you're one of the best. Been seeing so many videos of them and nobody could match the technique and composure you got. Well, I play classical guitar too, but my skill way below yours, hey btw, what piece did you play during the first 1 minute? I would love to be taught by you but I am living in washington.Heheh, keep up the good work joe, you're almost a pro

  • I've seen lots of amazing classical guitar players uploading their videos. But thanks for your compliment.

That one in the 1st minute is Se Ela Perguntar (Dilermando Reis). You can hear my whole recording at /watch?v=9W_cnl-rCFY

  • Joe, You are amazing. One question thought...you put an ad for student/s, how can we get info or enroll?

  • Thanks.

You can use YouTube to message me first.

  • I live too far away in Asia, else would definately like to sign up.

  • That's ok. Thanks for support!

  • Joe great stuff... the guitar world is better with people like you in it. Question for you... if you could spend up to maybe ummm 4,000 dollars on a guitar what make would you look for? Any comment would be appreciated. Oh yea I love to play ALL kinds of repertoire. Thanks.

  • Sorry for the late reply.

I don't know much about brands of the guitar. I think the one I'm using is around this price. But I never compare to the other. So I can't tell much about it.

    Thanks for comment.

  • I would love to be your student but I don't live near you.

  • it's ok, thanks for listening

  • I'm trying to find a classical guitarist to help me in Sudbury Suffolk England...wish I lived in Los Angeles

  • thanks for comment.

good luck at finding a teacher:)

  • Love your playing! Maria

  • thanks, Maria.

  • Hi Joe do you only want one student? Hehehe.

  • mnn... wouldn't think of two without one:)

  • You mean a,m,i use the thumb side to touch the string?

Yes, I do. But I usually use almost the center of my nails to touch. Same thing while tremolo. I think my right hand style is totally different from Segovia's.

  • That's a good thing in my opinion ;)

  • Forgot one thing, I started to play the guitar when I was in middle school. But as an amateur, time doesn't mean much. I think, in average, who spend 3~4 hours/day in practice can reach my level within 2 years if he/she is running on the right track.

  • Thanks! Peo plays much better than me. He is a professional guitarist.

I really have nothing to say in detail without knowing your situation. What I do to improve myself is to ask what I want to do, what problem I'm facing, then try a few different ways to solve it. That's how I teach myself. It's painful, sometimes, I wish a teacher can tell me what to do and I just do it as a no brainer:)

  • can u teach online, coz i dont live in the US. ^_^

  • I think classical guitar is hard to teach through videos. For general technique explaination is fine. But for teaching individuals, my experience tells me that everyone has different barrier. Teacher is the one who discerns the problem and points the way out.

  • well, i think 4 ppl like me, we just want 2 learn how 2 play the song and not actually the technique of playing guitar. if u know wat i mean, bcoz it quite hard 2 find the writen music or figure out how 2 play it 4 these classical pieces. ^_^

  • Technically, how to play it and how to play it well are whole stories IMO.

If you just want to find some lovely pieces of music and demo videos, I'm sure you can search plenty of them at YouTube. I might be able to help if I have the sheet music.

  • I mean ...whole different stories...

  • thanks ^_^

  • Technique is sooooo much more important than what you think it is lol.

In a way it's more important than any one piece because if you have great technique, you can learn at a faster pace, along with more complex pieces giving you a wider repetoir, and you will be able to give a near flawless rendition of them with good technique. Look at Joe for example - his technique is obviously good if it weren't he may be able to play the pieces but they would be messy and not pleasant to listen to.

  • yeah i noe that... i've kinda learnt guitar for 3 yrs @ skool but didnt learn much, i got the basic technique n stuff but to improve my playing i sure need to practice more challenging songs, unfortunately im a slow learner so i need someone to show me how to play, that's all

    thnx newayz ^_^

  • There are always ways to improve as long as we can aim the target correctly and practice effectively.

  • Thanks for comment.

Classical guitar is not a easy instrument to master. I still have long way to go.

  • Interesting. Playing brazilian music

  • Thanks for comment.

  • You pretty much described me. =)

  • Sounds very nice Joe. I don't live in California, so I'm not prospect. Was wondering though, do you have any suggestions for a "decent classical guitar" for beginners? (Something below $1000) I'm sure you've help to inspire some of us viewers to want to learn to play.

  • It's NOT like a CPU for PC, classical guitars don't have a industrial standard to name the level. According to the guitars I tried in the market in the U.S., I suggest to get one at least US$200 and up. More $ the better in general. For a very beginner, it's good to have a less expensive one to learn how to take care of it(You WILL hit it someday:-)

    Thanks for your comment.

  • i love your guitar man

    adil

  • I know you do:)

    Thanks adil.
