  • with sound, engine is a fully healthy

  • sounds awesome what pipe is on there

  • My 1994 YZ 250 (bought some days ago) make the same noise, similar to a piston which hit the cylinder head.

In fact now I'm here on Youtube to find videos like this.

But in some other videos about YZ 250 there are no strange noises from engine, like mine and tours, this make me paranoid!

  • sounds like a proper running yz250 to me..

  • judging by the vid thats sounds like a pretty healthy engine to me

  • Thanks

  • dont worry bout it

if ur still think its busted do a compression test

  • Sorry, I thought the comments werent posting. Can you delete the extra copies i had sent. Cheers

  • The tapping is normal and you are being paranoid. For me your bike sounds reasonably healthy, it does sound like there is a bit of top end chatter, nothing to worry about right now, but you might have a top end to do in the near future. Admittedly I only am hearing a recording and it's hard to tell. If you really are worried, load it up and take it to a MX track or bike shop. Someone there will give you an opinion. Hope this helps.

  • Thank you for the help, everyone seems to think its sounding healthy. I have a new spare top end here so ill chuck that in.

  • When it's warm, does it quieten down at all? If it does, I wouldnt worry about doing the top end until its noisy when warm. Remember loose means fast. Good luck.
